Korean military equipment is mediocre. They have to offer tech transfers to even attract customers. People confuse this with them having a booming defense industry on par with the UK or something

That’s nice. Can I get 48 f-35s please. Throw in a few HIMARS batteries while your at it
the k21 ifv and the k2 seem pretty promising. whats wrong with them?
This. The mbt and ifv are best in their categories globally. Their not even cheap, thr K2 is most expensive in the world even more than m1a2.
Most a&d companies due some level of tech transfers to include LM.

Gee I wonder who's behind this post...
>>tech transfer bad
It’s definitely bad for the company who owns the tech. I see why it’s attractive for countries with the manufacturing capacity to build their own equipment
Let me guess that the person behind this post has a 300% profit on replacement parts.
Replacement parts or not the f-35 is just a better plane by a wide margin
My c**t's military uses a ton of Korean stuff
>they're cheap (cheaper if you're a repeat customer, even cheaper if you're their master's ally)
>easily serviceable, they even build factories and depots if you don't have them and spare parts are aplenty
>every unit you buy makes China seethe, doesn't matter since the asiatics have mastered the art of Chink diplomacy that they simply deflect the issue to America to save face and maintain good relations
>they send K-pop prostitutes to get nutted inside by your generals and politicians who will have a final say, doesn't matter if they get pregnant there's always a coathanger and falcon punch
The only thing they dislike is putting in other manufacturers inside their systems, they will outright replace Thales, Harris, Hensoldt, Selex, etc. with Hyundai and Hanwha stuff.
do regular-sized humans fit in them?
Koreans are european sized. Chinese increasingly to these days. All other asians are midgets to include nips.
It's nice seeing all these Australian armour threads on the front page today, I mean.. the redback
The kf21 doesn’t make much sense. Way late to the game and doesn’t have an internal weapons bay. I’m not confident it can sell in a market where f35 exists. I imagine the countries that aren’t authorized to buy the f35 probably aren’t interested in the kf-21
I'm pretty sure kf21 is supposed to compete with f16.
Or so i've heard.
Kf21 mach 1.8 55,000 ft service ceiling
F35 mach 1.6 50,000 ft service ceiling
Also its korean so quality build and won’t break down everyday like most of us manufactures which is where a&d companies get a lot of support maintenance fees basically a scam
KF-21 hasn't got in internal weapons bay, so unless you are gun only, the top speed is more like M1.2
Top speed is unimportant
Sensor suite and stealth are much more important. Both are superior on the f35. It’s why it’s sold so amazingly well
F35 can fly around with no external weapons and just direct GMLRS/PRSM strikes all day while retaining air to air missiles in its internal bays. That’s a useful modern usecase. Kf21 simply wouldn’t be able to accomplish that role. Kf21 is more akin to the f-16V
F-16V can go mach2+ and has an inferior radar unlike the kf-21.
So f16 can go faster than kf21 therefore it’s better. As
posted the jet with the higher notional max speed is superior
Give me that enormous samsung abus, now!
I'll rape your most popular kpop start otherwise.
Redback is pretty much a Bradley in a body kit.
Redback is over 50% heavier and much better armored.
because it has tracks and a turret?
Nah I don't think anyone's thinking they're up there with BAE or THALES, but tech transfers aren't necessarily a bad thing if you get to build your armour locally in-country instead of relying on supply chains from overseas. Plus it gives you technical specialists and subject matter experts locally who either built the thing or have the nuts n guts tech details on hand to get problems sorted out. That over the last 2 years has finally come into enough clarity for even the most doubtful and budget minded scumbag has to take that into account or be held to account the next time the worlds shipping industry takes a massive shit in its bed.
I mean overall I don't really doubt the Korean's ability to produce some fairly good quality technical items.
There’s a guy in here trying to compare kf21 to f35 by citing top speeds. The koreaboos are delusional
Its a bit weird because while I'm ex-army and old as shit, but pretty sure most weapons launches are done subsonic and all the higher speeds above mach are really just there for quicker intercept and taxi times, burning shitloads of fuel while they're never going superyeetosonic for dogfights.
Not that it matters if you're just chucking missiles at things 20 miles away
Overall though, most of us are using a monitor made in a Korean factory or sold with re-branded parts from one, plenty of samsung phones out there and the Koreans are generally quick to adapt stuff over to their military complex when it comes to some of the better target acquisition and fire control. What I'd be really looking at is their ship building capabilities, they want to go onto a war footing they can get some blueprints and churn out a fricking LOT of warships in a hurry. That double-duty of using your manufacturing base to make civilian stuff half the time and military stuff the other half is a really key asset for any country and Korea has a lot of westernised manufacturing lessons.
I'd be willing to give them the benefit of the doubt to make something decent. Better than something else, maybe not but I guess that's up to the buyer to determine
Vatnik cope thread.
Now hold on, this could be a kraut cope thread.
Frick off rheinmentall has nothing to prove.
Rhienmetall also doesn't make the Leo2
koreans barely even make their own tech, its all licensed copy from your typical big name defense industries
Are you from the 1970s?
>1970s
I was an intern in the 2000s and they were using my companies avionics in there F-15s (to be fair everyone did). I doubt kuch changed in that time. I had to make sure the tech document was in super basic English for them.
