The Secret Service can basically spend "lmao whatever it costs" money on small arms. ANYTHING that can be bought and produced in the western world is on their purchase list. Per unit cost, per ammo cost doesn't matter to them. They can buy literally whatever they want, no matter how boutique or gucci or small-unit-production, and they CHOOSE Knights Armament. That should tell you something

  11. 2 years ago

The M110, like every fricking thing fielded by the military, especially the damn SCAR, has issues.

I am a gunsmith. I have worked on SR-25's, FN-SCAR's, and M14's. The SR-25 is the objective best option of the three.

Most of the complaints regarding the SR-25's accuracy came from snipers, whom are used to bolt guns explicitly engineered for accuracy and nothing else.
Most of the complaints regarding reliability come from SCARgays, who don't like how the AR-platform's intended configuration is several magnitudes more effective than the SCAR, and use the SCAR's one half-decent leg up as justification.

Fact is, the AR-10 platform was engineered to have light weight, low recoil, and amazing accuracy for a semi-auto design. Eugene Stoner succeeded, and proceeded to watch the military force him to downsize his achievement to the AR-15.

The SCAR, meanwhile, was made to be an M14 in disguise, and has all of the same fundamental engineering failings.

Over reliance on weight to reduce recoil.
A shitty hybrid short-stroke long-stroke piston system that has the benefits of neither system.

These are the two cornerstones of the SCAR and M14; heavy and impractical abominations designed by committee, not engineers.

The AR platform was engineered specifically to solve the problem, every single marksman that had me fix their SR-25 likes theirs, and every single "operator" I knew that owned a SCAR tried to pawn it off to me when the damn things inevitably lost their charm and reality set in that they got scammed.

Either you’re the worlds worst gunsmith and you know very little about what you’re talked about…or more likely you’re a liar LARPing as a gunsmith to try and justify your disdain and inability to afford a SCAR. I do actually work with firearms, and I can tell you having shot the SCAR-17 and 16 multiple times they’re both extremely soft recoiling. Though I will say the SCAR-16 in all honesty is an over rated concept the 17 is excellent and typically the only work orders I’m filling on them are for dudes who have no idea how to mount a muzzle device to make it a suppressor host.

No, the M110A1 is a dmr with 200m less effective range than the M110. Funnily enough my old unit received theirs like 2 years ago and they were all immediately deadlined because of an extractor issue, and even after that was fixed they were never once (during my time there anyway) taken out of the arms room and used.

  19. 2 years ago

The one design flaw is the suppressor mount. It relies on a slip fit for alignment. As you shoot it, it will carbon lock onto the alignment features and will then hold zero. As soon as you knock it hard or remove it, it will change your zero. It's small, and it varies across all of them depending on how perfect the fitup is, but it's a real issue at range.

surprisingly light recoiling, it is absolutley not made to be shot from anything other than prone IMO, the suppressor really is frick huge. Carbon lock on the can is a concern however I clean mine after shooting to mitigate it. Overall it is a very nice gun that I like a lot and I really want to get their 6.5 upper to see how it shoots.

Not him but there were a bunch of FRF2s for sale on eurooptic a while ago.
The OG M110/MK11 has issues because it is a gun designed in the 1980s based off the original AR-10 pattern. They are also shit old and have been used and abused in inventory for quite a while.
When they were adopted there was no SCAR or AR-10 derivatives to compete with. Knights is responsible for the modern AR-10s that evolved past the Armalite designs.
              >KAC doesn't give a frick about the civilian market
KAC's civilian orders program exists to keep them afloat between military contracts. They cannot afford nor justify upscaling their production to be able to meet government contracts with a surplus of capacity to sell to the civilian market at the same time. Their backlogs are assfricked right now, because they are stuck fulfilling the Marines NT4 suppressor order and SR-16s & LAMGs for USSOCOM.

Do you know anyone who has used it? The guys I worked with from 2004-2017 who were issued it raved about it (there's a lot of them). Put in great work with it. Had many, many combat deployments under their belt with it. The guys who were unfortunate enough to have gone from a modified M-14 rig to the M110 saw it as the second coming it was such an improvement in accuracy, reliability and manual of arms. I saw guys doing downright magical stuff with M118LR and an M110 at ranges that still boggle my mind. Seems like you are making shit up tbqh or relying entirely on dipshit internet gun nerds with no firsthand experience.
