Just found this dead tick on my calf. I already had lyme disease last year. Some of thr worst pain I ever felt but I don't feel like paying over 1000 for blood tests again. What are some alternatives to antibiotics?

    >1000 for blood test
That's absurd. If you're in the state of Nevada I will send you on my office's dime.

    Blue cheese like roquefort.

Doesn't the tick need to be on you for like 12 hours before there's a chance of getting lyme disease?

I've heard Borrelia, the causative organism that causes Lyme disease, is treated with amoxicillin
I've heard you can buy amoxicillin for fish online 250 mg capsules without a prescription
Just what I've heard and is in no way medical advice

I've done it. Cheap and works.

If you had crabs you also had to do this for Ivermectin during the peak of the drama about it last year, because even if you got a prescription, pharmacies are legally allowed to refuse to fill prescriptions and most of them issued a blanket ban on ivermectin prescriptions.

Ask for cash prices for blood tests. Shit is way cheaper when you're paying cash.

    >Dad a bookish indoors type gets cushy government job
    >Coworkers stereotypical middle class out of shape white boomers
    >Dad socializes with them outside of work, bunch of vulgar losers leading empty lives
    >Oldest one is decent guy, has grand kids he cares about, leads an active life, gives my dad good advice,
    >Dad tells me and my brothers about him, thankful someone looks after my dad at work
    >One day dad look a little spooked
    >Tells me Old guy (not actually old probably in his 50’s) is getting his 2nd heart replacement
    >Turns out the dude got Lyme diseases in his 30’s, shit has been reeking havoc on his organs
    >A year later dude is brain dead, wife has to take him off life support
    >My dad being the supper analytical type lists to my chronoglically all his organ failures and surgeries
    >Dad always paranoid about ticks, makes me and brothers always wear pants and tall socks whoever we go hiking, makes us check ourselves after we finish, cancels camping trips because high tick populations, publicly humiliated me because I took a tick off my pants with my bare fingernail

Pop’s has never seen a tick in real life. Lol.
To be fair my cousin in law has the thing where you can’t eat meat from Lyme disease and our closest famous/popular camping site is located next to… Lyme, Connecticut.

Permathrin my man. Permathrin. In the northeast especially, you should not be going PrepHole without treating all your clothes. You can get it on Amazon, no reason not to.

Also look into the antibody shot they're developing for Lyme, it looks pretty huge.

My neighbor. Sweet older lady, got Lyme 30 years ago. She physically cannot put on weight. Skin and bones the entire time since then. Chronic health problems. Physical endurance of a toddler. Don't play games with ticks. Lyme is nasty nasty.

It is honestly sort of terrifying how poorly parasitic infections in the US are understood. You can catch some shit that turns you inside out and the only thing doctors will do is give you a broad spectrum anti-parasitic with even specialists drawing a blank on what's happening to you.

I get dead ticks on me every time I go out because permethrin takes minutes to kill and ticks can crawl fast enough to reach my skin past my treated clothing. I'm no expert but I'm fairly certain they need hours of being alive and healthy to effectively infect you(tick regurgitate when they are done feeding and that causes the disease).

        Are you moronic?
Not if you keep intake to under 4oz per fricking 2 hours while PrepHole and drink plenty of water duh

Is it bad for your skin? How often do you apply it? I got a tick hiking but I'm in Idaho so I don't think I'm at risk for Lyme. Still hate ticks though so I'd like to know.

Jokes aside you don't put it on your skin, it's for treating your clothes, I've sprayed it ony skin in an anti tick fever during a field event and I would consider it less bothersome than 100% deet on your flesh, deet is worthless btw and does give u cancer(sounds cool tho)

            Footnote
10% or above is for clothe treatment, I hardly dilute for my outer layers/shit that won't be directly on my flesh, maybe better dilutions would be okay for skin

Anon if there was 100% pure tick poison I'd still wear it

you put it on your pants which are usually tucked inbetween two layers of socks like a pantaloon sandwich. Looks dumb ? maybe but this way ticks won't frick with you.

Same thing for your sleeves, you put it on your jacket and yes you'll may be a little hot but that's the way to go.

            shirt, tucked in pants.
            Pants, tucked in socks x2.

In almost all cases nothing happens after a tick got you. Just watch out for that red circle or early symptoms, then get the antibiotics.
    >over 1000 for blood tests
    what the frick

If I were to get tested again it wouldn't be more than a 100 or so for the antibody test. I think I'll buy some amoxicillin for cats and dogs anyway. It's too bad lyme disease doesn't turn you into a wizard haha

What do you even need tests for, just do the antibiotics course.

They weren't sure it my symptoms were tick related so they ordered labs for everything else. All it showed were the antibodies and a vitamin D deficiency. Taking 10000 iu vit d daily now.

I've never seen ticks this bad before. I'm up to nearly 80+ ticks so far this year with 7 just today. Haven't had them bite in yet, but I'm sure they will. Dog is on Bravecto, which is a Godsend. Most of the ticks are dog ticks, but there is one area infested with deer ticks. I'm really thinking of staying in instead of going out.

anytime I got PrepHole I take my guine fowl with me. the sound alone scares the ticks away

I live outside city limits so a dozen guineas might not be too loud, but god they're annoying. Kinda cool how they hang out on groups though.

They freeze to death in winter because they are too moronic to hunker down and stay warm.

Does the sound really scare them away? If so maybe I'll use their sounds and play it from my phone when I need to rest in tick infested areas.

Any type of anthelmintic works. Better yet a combination of Wormwood, cloves and garlic.
