Just bought my first firearm. Should I train with the iron sight or just go the zoomer way and put on a red dot?

Why is that? Sorry if there is an obvious answer. I'm a gun moron.

Why the slide release look like that?
Do whatever you want, all that matters is actually training well with it.

      >Why the slide release look like that?
It works though. Is there anything wrong with it?

You're gonna suck either way, so learn on irons. You're also going to feel an intense urge to alleviate your sucking by buying a ton of bullshit aftermarket stuff. You must resist, and actually learn how to shoot.

You might be right. If I put on a red dot now I'll probably try to compensate my shitty skill with accessories

Are you going to carry it with a red dot or irons? That will answer your question

Don't intend to carry. Home defense only.

You're better off just selling it and getting into funko pops, seems more your speed

come on anon don't bully him, he meant well. As long as he sells the 19 and buys a 17 long-slide he can correct his course

This is good advice. If you can shoot well with irons, you can shoot well with anything. If you can’t shoot well at all, buying a red dot won’t help you.

    You should dry fire.
Watch some videos on how to hold and shoot a gun and dry fire 500 if not 1000 times.
Then when you've dry fired a ton go to a range and look like you're not a frick up.

    >he fell for the "flock 19 as the first gun" meme
I pity you OP, but I also made the same mistake years ago when I bought one after several anons told me it was the best option. Eventually you'll get fed up with it. It's not good enough as a competition pistol as far as sights or trigger, but is also too large to reasonably EDC. That's why I sold mine.

Red dot is for rifles. For pistols iron sights are enough.

don't listen to the other morons in this thread; get a red dot.

red dots changed the game with rifles, and it changes the game with handguns too. you'll be faster and more accurate than shooters that don't have a red dot unless they're extremely proficient.
irons take training, red dots are moron-simple, you could hand a 3 year old a red dot handgun and they'll hit bullseye

You don't have a red dot mount. Shoot it as is for 1 year or 5,000 rounds whichever comes first before you change A SINGLE THING on the gun. Don't fall for the trap.
