I've recently bought a custom fitted plate suit, chainmail hauberk, longsword, and a sutton-hoo helmet. I've just been wondering if I should get ceramic plates to wear over the hauberk and under the plate so I can be protected from small arms fire?

The Sutton hoo style helmet is more anachronistic to suit of plate armor than a suit of plate armor is to today. Why would you have a 750 year anachronism of a helmet? If you want a face on your helmet, get a grotesque visor for a sallet.

So you are an Anglo who does not know shit about your own kingdoms history of armour but you wanted something represented of your heritage by having a helmet from a completely different era? Instead of a sutton hoo you could have gone for a Coventry sallet to go with the rest of your plate. That way you are using a unique English helmet design which is not incongruous with the plate.
