How common are 1907s? I haven't been to a gun show in years, and I saw one in a pawn shop 10 years ago, but wasn't old enough to buy it, nor do I remember it's price. I'd like to get one.

The real cool stuff is found in auction catalogs, not whatever plastic turkshit is being hawked at Shot Show each year.

      That is a unique prototype.

Tastes changed, or the marketer's assumption of what the consumer's tastes changed.

This, tastes change. These days most of the gun market seems to want cheap at the expense of everything else, or they seem to want something that looks like it came out of the latest sci-fi themed vidya. But media affecting what guns people want is nothing new. Today boomers pay megabucks for old Colt SAA's because that's what the cowboy heroes of their old TV westerns used, like the Lone Ranger, etc. The classic Pulp era sci-fi inspired stuff like the Whitney Wolverine is long gone, that's not popular anymore. Single-shot pistol shooting isn't very popular anymore either. Today it needs to look like it came from Counterstrike, be capable of magdumping, and being cheap enough that you can still afford it while you're blowing most of your money on Steam subscriptions and Doordash tendies.

Or if you're serious about it you can get a BFR with a custom barrel up to 24" in a much more interesting caliber.

At what point does a pistol stop being a pistol and become a rifle? I'm tempted to say it's a matter of length, but there are stubby pups like the Tavor. You could also say a rifle has a stock, but then there are smgs with stocks that are classed as "machine pistols".

I don't think anything in a pistol cartridge has been called a rifle since pre-1900. Carbine, sure, but rifle had a specific connotation by then.

        >stop being a pistol and become a rifle
When it is no longer designed and/or intended to be used with one hand.
        That is the definition

So the "maschinenpistole 5" should be renamed "maschinengewehr 5"?

No, because that's in german and a brandname, and therefore doesn't count. in ENGLISH, the MP5 is a submachine gun and not a pistol
also foregrips on a gun that size are beyond moronic, they should be grounds for immediate red flag confiscation
