It's over, Anglos

The British are getting annihilated by V1s and V2s. I expect this war to be over by the end of 1944. How can you cope, bongs?

V1 rocket sites were in northern France just across the channel. They weren't long range by any means. That was what the V2 was for.

I miss when video games treated WW2 like an actual conflict instead of a big dumb Hollywood action movie with TF2 cosmetics

Nobody today is old enough to remember what a genuine great power conflict looks like, so they've only got big dumb Hollywood action movies for reference

That Men of War or Call of Arms (WW2 version)? I tried to go back to them, I loved Men of War games (despite the autism fight over IP and shit) but I realised how awful some of the systems were. Like, I tried to play the WW2 Call of Arms map. Tells me to place defences. I have to go and find the items to pick up to construct them but they don't highlight when I click the 'highlight items' button because it has a inventory system. It took me 10 mins to find them, had to zoom right in and manually pick them. Then realised you gotta do so much micro managing to get the defences right. If they allowed you to click 'build' and then the AI went and gathered the required items, it'd be so much easier.

I loved Assault Squad though since you're always attacking and you can get some really fun shit going. I used to love spawning the Elite units of whatever faction (Guards for USSR, Rangers for USA I think, SAS for UK... or was it Commandos I forget, Panzergrendiers for Germany etc) and then ripping out 50cals or pintle machine guns and raping because they have 5* with every weapon. Apart from Commandos...or SAS or whatever the UK ones that spawn with De Lisle Carbines which make no sense in a game where sound has no play in how the AI reacts. They only had 4*. Was never worth spawning them. USSR had the giant mortar, like 180mm mortar or something silly which was great fun to use. Think the Germans had a Tiger tank as their elite spawn unit. Japan had a Banzai wave I think?

its Graviteam Tactics Mius Front/Tank Warfare Tunisia 1943-- they're basically the same game, but different theatres, Graviteam Tactics has way more DLC campaigns, though
More artillery autism that should be humanly possible, but as long you learn that, the AI tends to managed themselves fairly well, and the chain of command is fully simulated-- because it takes a couple minutes to give a command via phone or radio lines, or longer by sending a runner, its basically impossible to micromanage things, and its all about pre-planning and giving your guys the best chance of success. So no having to worry about telling your guys to individually throw grenades, etc. because they'll fight fairly competently, provided you give them enough support, a good gameplan, and if they have decent moral
High amounts of tank and vehicle autism too, if that's your thing

So the V-1. How useful was it? Seems kinda pointless for the payload and inaccuracy. V-2 at the very least is somewhat revolutionary even though practically useless for winning a war but it wins points for being really interesting and forward thinking. But again too expensive, small payload and inaccurate to be useful. Would the V-2 have been better with allied tech? I was thinking american electronics could make it more useful but i don't have much knowledge of that. But then again they had B-17's and B-29's for proper strategic bombing so what's the point?

I would assume they're just cheap and spammable, without the risk of losing expensive bombers, fighter escorts, and all the personnel required to fill them

not very accurate - just accurate to hit *somewhere* in a large city shoot if off on the bearing with approximately enough fuel so the engine cuts over the target.

        >what's the point?
        >V1 = Vergeltungswaffen 1 = Vengeance Weapon 1

Hitler got mad that the allies were dunking on his cities with bombers so he decided that if they blew up his shit he'd blow up their shit. The difference being that "most" of the allied bomber raids were on "factories" and "industrial complexes" to kneecap the german industry while ol' toothbrush-lip wanted to make the Brits seethe by plinking them with firecrackers hoping one would land in someone's ear and blow their head open.

The effect was pretty much the same, bombers proved themselves not capable of hitting anything smaller than a city anyway.

The V stood for vengeance. They had no strategic purpose, just spite and terrorism.

Vergeltung not vengeance or do you really think they used the english word?

Vergeltung (in the negative sense) is distinct from Rache (“revenge”) in that there is an element of objective justice (rather than just personal, emotional justice)
          Cool.
