This is a NATO declaration of war on Russia, you don’t need soldiers on the ground pushing towards the Russian border to merit a declaration of war. Russia is now more than entitled to use Russian weapons to “hit targets within Nato borders” most particularly the depots and munitions factories that are supplying Ukraine weapons to attack the Russian homeland. Like it or not but Russia has the power to turn every army base, dockyard, airfield, factory complex and city into a parking lot with the push of a button and thanks to this ill-advised decision the finger is on the trigger.

      I wish a zigger would.

Russians never ever run out of copium. Ever. They can't. It would kill them. The typical russian existence is so unimaginably bleak that coming to terms with reality would ultimately rip their psyche to shreds. It is this why they religiously cling to the lie, because if they would admit the state of their dogshit soul - the illusion of their humanity would be destroyed and the realization that they are lower than beasts would rush in and crack them completely. If you have a soul at least you can bullshit yourself into hoping for heaven after death. Without that they only have the miserable, repulsive existence as an aberration of human form. A twisted cattle for monsters worse than them. Mindlessness is their single blessing. The pretense is their only salvation. It is no surprise that Putin and the "elites" don't give a shit about Russians dying. They know what they are and what use they are for. With such existence death is an improvement. And Russians give themselves to it totally. There is no higher purpose in their life that they can achieve.

      >This is a NATO declaration of war on Russia
Yes, the west awaits Russia's response.
Unfortunately, Russia is simply too chicken to do anything.
At this very moment, Russia is no doubt trying to perform the most elaborate of mental gymnastics to explain how "akshually, it's NOT a declaration of war and we don't need to fight NATO" as NATO weapons continue to funnel into Ukraine and slaughter Russian troops in the thousands.
You see, this has been the plan all along, the great russocide is upon the starved and diseased foul in bear's clothing, and it will merely cluck and caw as Ivan's lands are burned and their people exterminated to make way for western ownership.
Soviet nukes will be dismantled in their silos, having never been fired.
Russian leaders will be dismantled in western prisons, having done nothing to stop it.
The Russian way of life will be dismantled in Russia, with the Russians simply rolling over and accepting it.
Russia will die as it lived, a nation of chickens.

You need a basic understanding on geopolitics.
Russia has made a land grab, something that hasn't happened in Europe since WW2. Now the west can ignore it and send the message that land grabs are ok, this will lead to a lot of new wars as other nations make their own land grabs.
The other option is to insure Russia loses sending the message that land grabs won't be tolerated increasing global security.

Sadly the west is weakened by internal politics right now so the response has been too slow and too weak but it's not too late to force a Russian loss and warn others not to try the same.

I need a basic understanding of geopolitics? You seem to assume that this ‘global security’ is influenced by whether or not Russia can achieve its goals in Ukraine when war for reasons like resources and security is unfortunately inevitable in my opinion.

Energy exports is LITERALLY the reason for this war. 12-15 years ago major new reserves were discovered in Ukraine, and the new government decided they wanted to be rich supplying the European market instead of Russia. They were also messing with the pipelines (google Russia-Ukraine energy dispute). Russia built Nordstream with Germany to bypass Ukraine but the US partnered up with Ukraine to help them with energy development and killing Nordstream for the purpose of cutting Russian energy off from Europe. Russia lost the political battle in 2013 and so escalated it to a military one in 2014, seizing the most import Ukrainian reserves in the Black Sea and driving out Western oil companies due to proximity to a warzone. Ukraine didn’t give up on the project, the US kept trying to kill Nordstream 2 and when Zelensky was elected who then doubled down on “energy independence” and re-taking Crimea one way or the other (ie alliance with Europe and forcing Russia out) — Putin decided he needed to settle the issue for good with a regime change.

The regime change didn’t work, but that didn’t mean Putin could just give up. The European energy market is everything to his government, it literally pays for the soft-power that makes it function and the fabulous lifestyle of him and his circle. Most importantly, it pays for their dynasty of new Russian aristocracy being put into place. NO ONE else on the planet can replace the European energy market revenue for them, which is precisely why the US was so comitted to the Ukraine project for last decade. It’s real-world realpolitik, all that matters is money and access to money, and Putin WILL pursue victory until he is literally incapable of pursuing it any further. tens of millions of Russian peasants can die, he doesn’t care even slightly as long as the small group in Moscow that runs the state and operates the machinery of civilization is fine everything else can be fodder.

He’s trying to do just that. But nothing can replace the European market because that MASSIVE capital investment was made by the USSR and which he and his oligarchs simply inherited for free. Pipelines to China have to be invested into. Also China appears to be cool on proposed pipeline projects and observers think they’re waiting for a more beneficial deal, something they know they have the leverage to get. But if those projects get off the ground they won’t even fully replace Nordstream, let alone the Ukrainian pipeline networks.

His gameplan is to win the war one way or the other in which his access to the pipelines is assured — at least temporarily — normalize relations with Europe and get back into the European energy market. If he is able to end the war on those terms there is NO reason to believe the vast Russian oligarch money won’t quickly open up any remaining embargoes in Europe.

              >NO ONE else on the planet can replace the European energy market revenue for them
China and India will be bigger markets in 20 years, China already imports $9.5B from Russia.

Russia has been in the position to be a major economic power for decades and still manage to frick it up because the top is filled with loyal people instead of smart people.

The problem is Chinese and Indian demand is simply dwarfed by supply at the moment. They simply can't use or even economically store all of the gas they could theoretically buy, the same way you can't/won't get everything at a Costco even if you got handed 10 million dollars at the door. In China's case, they've already signed long-term contracts that supply as much as they need from existing pipelines. And after those expire, green energy may be sufficient to supplant fossil fuel use, which is great for China's self-sufficiency. So for all of Putin's pretensions to great statesmanship, he SUCKS at playing the long-game.

Russia is a low-IQ peasant nation. All low-IQ nations will never develop a politically-meaningful middle class, so the elites will never be forced to share, so all the mercantile development of a middle-class society won’t happen. All the elites care about is taking whatever wealth there is to take and live in palaces, the end.

I wonder if /k/ bothers with actually reading news. Ukraine was given the okay to strike targets in Russia is VERY limited to strictly at military targets directly threatening towards Kharkiv. It’s literally just giving Ukraine a common-sense military option against an active invasion force within a specific narrow region involved in the attack axis. It’s letting them attack targets before they cross over the border in one specific theatre. Why is /k/ turning this into the end of the war? Get a grip, damn. It’s also too LATE, the time to hit those forces was BEFORE they walked unopposed across the border. Zelensky had been campaigning hard to get the US to give them permission to hit those forces as they massed on the border, but the Biden admin only relented now on that. Frankly Ukraine is fricked if this is going to be the norm.

Read the article. Ukraine was given permission ONLY to hit military forces which are currently or about to cross the border near Kharkiv. THey could hit, for example, an airbase which is being used to attack Kharkiv, but they couldn’t attack it if it was only being used to ferry in personnel and gear into the region. Or, if there’s an important military factory in range they couldn’t hit that, but only maybe hit a depot attached to an active invasion force. It’s very limited, and only in reaction to allowing Ukraine to resist an active military invasion force, it doesn’t let them attack strategically important targets that aren’t directly involved in the attacking forces moving towards Kharkiv. So they can hit a forward base mustering forces which are obviously going to be sent towards Kharkiv, but they can’t hit the radar site, barracks, HQ offices, etc, in a town right next to the base.

      >Ukraine was given the okay to strike targets in Russia is VERY limited to strictly at military targets directly threatening towards Kharkiv.
Slippery slope. What matter is, the taboo on direct strikes into Russia has been broken, so now the rest of NATO is free to follow suit and expand on that decision. The gameplan here is to have Europe attacking Russia with impunity while operating under Article 5 umbrella.

you do know that in the event of a nuclear first strike by russia their #1 target would be enemy nuclear sites, aka the ICBM silos, correct? Which is why the map you posted has a billion black dots on top of the ICBM silos?
Having hundreds of nuclear warheads ground burst on your territory = a frickton of fallout. They would be ground burst by necessity because a ground bursted nuke is the only thing capable of destroying a hardened ICBM silo, and in fact it's likely they would dedicate 2+ warheads to each silo to maximize the chances of a kill, meaning yet more fallout.

Putin cares about himself, his circle, their continued wealth and power and the security of their children’s new dynasty. He doesn’t care even slightly about the racial purity of Russia let alone anyone else. If replacing every single Russian with a brown person lets him keep his palace and European energy market sales coming in he’ll do that in a heartbeat. He’s literally no different from any other elite anywhere, and only differs in terms of wealth and political constraints. Russia is and has always been a peasant nation full of low-IQ Asian and minority serfs, and such peasant nations all follow the same trajectory; Russia and China are on top of the heap simply due to the abundance of resources they can sell (China: slave labor, Russia: energy). But because they don’t have many high-IQs in those countries there isn’t a politically powerful middile class which forces the elites to share. High-IQ Western nation elites must share with the high-IQ middle class, and that’s why our civilization is the way it is and theirs is the way theirs is.

You mean we get to nuke Russia into oblivion and have most of our liberal morons die off in one fell swoop? What's the problem, again?

This is a NATO declaration of war on Russia, you don’t need soldiers on the ground pushing towards the Russian border to merit a declaration of war. Russia is now more than entitled to use Russian weapons to “hit targets within Nato borders” most particularly the depots and munitions factories that are supplying Ukraine weapons to attack the Russian homeland. Like it or not but Russia has the power to turn every army base, dockyard, airfield, factory complex and city into a parking lot with the push of a button and thanks to this ill-advised decision the finger is on the trigger.

It’s referring to the use of American-supplied weapons. The reason why that’s very important for Ukraine is that most other weapons they’ve received from other allies have either run low or have been rendered much less effective thanks to GPS jamming. ATACMS seem is still effective thanks to its very wide range of effect and strong INS guidance. Also JDAM-ERs are still somewhat effective at 60% hit rate thanks to a software patch which helped with the jamming. So the way things stand now what they really need are those ATACMS and permission to at least hit forces gathering at the border, which is what they just got.

They’ll put up with a small population of middle class types to run civilization which gives them comfort and security — but it’s just toleration. If everything could be taken over by robots they see the middle-class ended as well. In fact they especially dislike the middile-class because the middile-class has the IQ to organize into politically meaningful polities which forces the elites to share. Peasants are easier to deal with for them, although they also don’t want to feed peasant masses either. They would be happiest in a world with no one in it except a small community of elites as if the planet was their private palace grounds. Right now they have to have a middle-class around to support them but they’re already eager to latch on to any chance to reduce that number. If they can use AI tools to get rid of all the programmers — bye!

I don't find that argument very convincing. Putin will die sooner rather than later. And dictators typically don't prepare for succession, they hold onto power until the last moment. So whether he dies now or in 5 years won't make much of a difference. One exception being that if he dies during an active war the political power grab might be more unpredictable and violent than in peace time.
