Scandinavian countries unironically have both Pagan and Christian blessings/symbols/saying/etc. tied to their militaries.

The U.S. Navy has some pretty big Catholic-ish blessings on ships and aircraft.

Germany still uses the iron cross and various other symbols from the Teutonic Order.

The Vatican is the Swiss Guard's employer.

Most people absolutely seek cash money above all else. Most people climb the ladder for money. Most people worship money as God Almighty. Period. It is their source of whatever they call life. Spiritual satisfaction doesn't even come up as a priority for most people until they hit a dead end and start wondering, and even then their first inclination is to solve it with more cash money.
I have nothing to say about military wages. I don't even know what's going on ITT.

It'd be more effective when Japan does it given what Shinto is

  7. 2 months ago
    Anonymous

Shinto isn't really a religion at this point, it's more a bunch of traditional cultural practices.
They say in America people believe in God but don't go to church; in Japan it's the opposite, people don't really believe in kami, but they still go to shrines a few times a year, especially during hatsumode.
.t I practice Shinto as a way to learn more about Japan

        Anonymous

A sort of ancient nature worship.
Pretty much everything has a kami.
Mt Fuji has a kami, your computer has a kami, trees have kami.
Then there's more major named kami like Inari and Amaterasu.
People go to shrines to pay their respect, buy lucky charms, and pray for things.
There's also traditional Shinto weddings which are cool

Yeah. I'm sure you could find a shrine dedicated to that kind of thing.
If not you could probably have a priest turn your tank into a sacred object.

          >it's machine spirit as applied to damn everything.
          Also sort of.

"Kami" is not a term that translates nicely, as it's insular, novel, extremely broad and metaphysical to boot. It covers concepts that in English would include (among other things) "spirit", "deity" and "god" but the tl;dr is that for the kind of Kami being talked about here pretty much everything - including abstract things like "craftsmanship" and natural phenomenon like storms - possesses or can possess an immaterial and imperceptible spirit or spiritual nature to some degree that is mollfied by respect and angered by disrespect. To attempt to explain it more simply, that blessing is not for that discrete plane itself or even for that model of plane; the blessing is for everything that the plane represents - the object itself, the idea of the object, previous planes that served, etc.

The only reason Japan isn't a shithole is because it adopted Western values during the Meiji revolution. Before that it was a bunch of malnourished manlets who killed eachother with long obsolete weaponry. Christianity served Europe fine for centuries; the recent cultural decay is a result of giving women political power.

          >The only reason Japan isn't a shithole is because it adopted Western values during the Meiji revolution.
          Jej.

          >Before that it was a bunch of malnourished manlets who killed eachother
Just like pretty much everywhere else, including Europe.

          >with long obsolete weaponry.
The Japs took to guns like fish to water. They got their hands on matchlocks in 1543, figured out how to mass produce them in 1544 and inside of ten years later they were the dominant weapon of war. They also did the same thing after Matthew "I fucking dare you to not let me in" Perry opened them up to the rest of the world.

          >Christianity served Europe fine for centuries;
Christianity is a philosemitic tumor made palatable to the masses only via cribbing from the European weltanschauung, especially the Romans.

          >the recent cultural decay is a result of giving women political power.
So what's your excuse for why so many other Christian nations - many of which are extremely observant, such as those in Africa and Latin America - are some of the world's premiere shitholes?

No, I said that Christianity served the Europeans fine, meaning it didn't work to their detriment. I also didn't say that lack of faith was killing Europe, I said that giving women political power was. While these two are arguably tied to one another, I didn't implicate a decline in religiosity itself in the decay of Europe.

            Jej.
every facet of modern day japan has been formed by the 3 bleachings.
1st contact with European traders leading to development of western studies and their counter school that wanted to return to "true" japan with the emperor at its center
2 Perry and the meji restoration forcing all aspects of the japanese nation trough western forms and molds
            3 US occupation
Modern japan could not have come about without the at that time still Christian West

The Emperor returning to the picture took centuries though. I'd say it was the Portuguese introducing firearms to Japan that was the foundational event allowing the land to be unified for the fist time in a very long time under one consolidated state, slowly stripping away the power and influence of the different clans. European guns provided a decisive edge to Nobunaga and later Tokugawa, who ended up setting up the Shogunate that would rule for over 2 centuries afterwards.

It's basically Pocahontas "spirit of the wind" shit. They think every object has a spirit and some spirits are powerful enough that it's worth gaining their favor through offerings of food and drink. It's a rather primitive religion that's survived for millennia because Japs are autistic.

Tell that to the national socialists of the 20th century. White middle class women in education was some of the highest demographics of party members for the german national socialist party and the british national socialist party. Both of which rejected the trajectory of where Europe was going in. Intrinsicaly "non-liberal" political forces relied on female support. So shut the fuck up retard and get to know the history of western politics and why things are actually going to shit and not parrot half baked takes that america first homosexuals like to scream at every chance they have.

Ok so the main issue comes from globalised trade and industrialisation. This is not a Ted talking point and has been around since the 18th as well as 19th century. In Europe industrialisation started to expand from the city trade streets to the country side and beyond. Cities grew as well the free movement of people in general as the increased trading in goods and materials led to larger ports and more international visitstion of merchants or imported labor. Cities started to take the form of the modern cities we know today and agriculture in alot of European countries started to become more and more urbanised. The people that lived in small communities either found themselves being sucked into this new age of industrialisation or fled to other more remote communities before they too got consumed. The day and age where communities were tight knit, self reliant became company towns with nuclear familys that were insular from their neighbours and dissconected from their enviroment. Locals began to be absorbed by the county and the county by the capital. These same families now uprooted from communial community culture and local history then began moving from place to place, unable to plant roots for prolonged periods of time and beginning the decsent of a lack of identifying with the land and country they lived in. Imported labour began warping metropolitan culure into a homogenised boiling pot as a new age of industrialisy oligarchs replaced the aristocrats of old. Globalisation, and soon libertarianism as well as the ideas of egalitarianism followed. As industrialistaion shifted physical life to a "modern" world, these new political and social policies began "modern" thought. This is where you get into the idea of history being seperated from the old world and the new one, and fringe rigthoids like myself believe that the concept of a modern world is destroying the order of human life.

Participating in the local community, a connection/appreciation for the land and enviroment you live on along with a respect for the cultural order, usually represented in the form of castes. Also if we are talking full on occoult territory being connected to the metaphysical and spiritual. There is also the idea of Hermeticism, that human nature and the secrets to life have been lost to history progressing to a modern world. In order to rediscover this knowledge and utopian being of human nature we must move the pendulum the other direction to the traditional world instead. But I repeat that is the more occoult angle. Usually it is down to the individual to find such Hermetic truths as an understanding of the occult is reserved for the aristocratic caste so technically I shouldnt be telling you this and it is down to you to discover it. If you cant find this stuff out, to the occult rigtoid you shouldn't be able to in the first place. This is as layman as I can get.

Part of the reason I can't stand some of the more mainstream "white identitarian" groups out there. They tie themselves to this north american centrist idea of identity and culture while strangling themselves by embracing some flavor of Abrahamic faith, tone deaf to the negative impact that such religious sects have had on western history

                >as well as the ideas of egalitarianism followed

christian universalism which is the genesis of modern egalitarianism (obviously) predates all of the socio-economic changes you speak of. BUT it was globalism and industrialization that allowed the previously present universalism in christianity to evolve into its logical endpoint. The ideal was clashing with the material. This is why Christianity was less gay before the modern period, the harsh material conditions limited its gayness. Now we have it so good (relatively) that all kinds of homosexualry is given space to grow even if it shouldn't. we are in many ways suffering from our own success. Hopefully we can find a nice synthesis without society collapsing first and regressing, I'm hopeful we can.

P.S. can someone photoshop a proper A2 upper onto barbies AR? ill give it a try myself but im not hopeful my skills will do it justice.

That's a lot of words to say israelites destroyed all sense of culture, family, community and trust in your fellow men just for them to gain power by replacing those with their own power structures. Depower individuals in all levels while hijacking power themselves

No that is not what I am saying and JQ is a pretty fucking basic take. Within the modern intellectual diaspora there were large amounts of secular israelites that contributed to modern world views regarding social or financial which are considered destructive and detrimental. But to say israelites are a monolithic cabal is stupid and deaf to the complex makeup of how metropolitan perspectives and globalised institutions form and coalesces. For each Secular israeli nihilist you had a dozen secular protestants libertarians, both demographics making up the vast majority of financial or industrial international conglomerates. There is an international coordinated effort to finalise the supremacy of the modern world for the next few centuries, but the enemy and takes many faces and forms.

                Nah.
Finland is probably among the cleanest western countries, and similar to Japan in some ways, but Japanese culture/society just cares way more about cleanliness of public spaces. They have better cultural value system.
Though, Finland's mostly agnostic society with deeply rooted lutheran christian moral values is not bad compared to shinto. They just don't apply to care of public spaces / cleanliness specifically. Also Finland has way more crime than Japan. It's a very safe country but not Japan-safe.

      >Shinto isn't really a religion at this point, it's more a bunch of traditional cultural practices.

Nope. Its a Folk Religion. Unlike Dogmatic religions (i.e. abrahamic ones) which are usually foreign to the people who adopted them and talk of the separation of the sacred/secular, folk religions are utterly tied to the culture of the people, where what is religious/secular is often blurred. This is not special to Japan as they got plenty of religious cues from Chinese Folk Religion as well, which communism couldn't even destroy as they dont know where the religion begins and where the secular culture ends.

        >ch of traditional cultural practices.
Like othe other anon said, that's just folk religions. They amount to mundane rituals, the worldview and so on, that's why Japs declare they have "no religion" in survey's and still visit shrines and also why something codified and dogmatic, like the abrahamic religions were nearly unstoppable in their spread.

A practice is not a religion. Religions are organized and codified and follow centralized rules and ideas. Shinto has none of that. It's just "6 million (read as: infinite) gods" and "do these rituals, maybe sometimes".

          >Religions are organized and codified and follow centralized rules and ideas.

That is only true for some sects of christianity. Christianity itself is the original LARP religion, as it was crafted to cover for the (israeli) organized crime gang that was the early church. This LARP gradually became more complex until it became the first early form of christianity.

I have studied the topic of religion from the paranormal/occult forces angle, and I have reached the conclusion that long ago, before the beginnings of written history, religion was a set of practices to communicate with supernatural entities. That means that a real religion has "magic", since these entities can fiddle with reality in ways that are difficult to understand, as the fox shrine guy earlier in the thread found out when he fucked around and found out. Modern mass religion is as fake as pro wrestling and christians that try to virtue signal their moral superiority because they are christians are just hardcore cringe.

I lived in Japan and initially it was the same for me. I was basically entirely by myself and overworked.

        >worked at an animal "shelter"
        >really just the pet project of the American wife of a rich Japanese guy
        >living in run down 60s Japanese house by myself with 40+ cats and 3 dogs
        >owner only appears for an hour once every few days just to waste time
        >complain to her about the state of the house and how I need more actual help
        >"if you don't like it you can leave"
        >I have little money and don't know Japanese
        >she thinks she has me by the balls
        >"ok I will leave then"
        >she backpedals immediately, promising the moon if I stay
        >"No, you were right. I'm leaving"
        >walk out with all my stuff on my back
        >suddenly realize I have nowhere even to sleep
        >go to only other place I know, had been there once before on New Years
        >It called itself an English-cafe but it was really more of a host-club/bar that hires Western foreigners
        >"Sorry the owner isn't here" the bartender tells me
        >"I'll have a beer and wait because I have nowhere else to go"
        >While waiting I notice all the Euros only speak English as their second language
        >Owner arrives and I convince him he needs an actual English speaker at least for appearances
        >He puts me up in an apartment with the only other 2 guys that work there
        >3 guys and 15 girls work at the place
        >when we're not working we all go on adventures together
        >my Spanish surfer-guy roommate and I become legendary-tier bros for life
        >we each eventually date a girl we work with, for me a Japanese-French Hapa
        >watching the moon rise over a mountain as I sit on the edge of an outdoor hot spring while she sucks my dick
        >just one of infinite moments where my life became a surreal blur
        >people come and go and even Frenchie must leave soon
        >eventually realize this isn't a life one can live long-term
        >she takes me to the airport
        >we both cry

I enjoy my life now, but sometimes I wonder if I should've just stayed

In a religious context are unholy weapons actually a thing? Like is there a mace out there that is said to have had the 12th prince of hell personally bestow its armpit sweat onto its handle or something or is it more of just a broad catergory of weapons or philosophys that are considered unholy?

Depends on the religion. IIRC Hinduism has a few legendary weapons associated with the Rakshasa, Norse myth had cursed weapons like Tyrfing which would always kill a man when drawn, and was fated to kill its wielder

        >Praise be to the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, my fingers for battle.
        >The Lord is a warrior; The Lord is His name.
Please understand that everything in the bible and especially NT is a collection of stories from different people of vastly different time periods. The Bible is not the word of god nor an absolute command from Jesus Christ. It was touched up with modern ideals multiple times and constantly rewritten to include more hopeful and peaceful language when the zeitgeist called for it. You can find mostly older and more literal translations and scriptures that were written in time of war and catastrophe that support a brute and aggressive sentiment if you want.

Just stop looking at the bible as one book, with the same meaning across all its versions and translations and for the love of god - please don't take it word by word because that's not what the bible is. It's a historical context of vague stories and ideas and dreams written across hundreds - sometimes a thousand years apart.

It's worth knowing that the Israelites had not received full Revelation, but it was given to them piece by piece over time.
For an example that I hear sometimes, you know how atheists always say "well if you need the promise of heaven and threat of hell to be good, then you're not really good"? The thing is the Israelites didn't have that promise or threat. They believed what the Babylonians and their other neighbors did, there was a single afterlife that everyone went to regardless of what you did here. This place, which they called Seir, was a vast dark place presumed to be underground. It varies from culture to culture, but the general idea is that it's a place of ultimate despair where the dead lay around being depressed forever. It almost seems like an allegory for oblivion after death.
Then Jesus came, and told us that this wasn't true. That there actually was hope all this time. They weren't told probably because the idea was that they didn't need to know, just be a good person and you'll learn about what happens when it happens. But that wasn't working since people clearly were still doing evil without that knowledge.
I do agree it need be looked on as separate books, but also as one whole work if that makes sense. Keep in mind the context behind each book, but also how they fit together into a single narrative. In any case, one verse removed from it and divorced of all context or supporting verses, in it's own book and across the other books that came before and even after it, is a terrible way to judge it. Yet that's what people are doing, both Christian and not. It should never be said that there was no reason for priests and monks, they common man clearly is yet incapable of simply reading the fucking book and has to have a dedicated book man to tell them what's in it.

Look if any churches in your area do anything for the feast day of Saint Hubertus the patron saint of hunters.
It's common for there to be a blessing for hunting dogs, rifles, horses ect.

In a religious context are unholy weapons actually a thing? Like is there a mace out there that is said to have had the 12th prince of hell personally bestow its armpit sweat onto its handle or something or is it more of just a broad catergory of weapons or philosophys that are considered unholy?

The main difference is that this isn't so much a religious ceremony, just as Japanese people go to shrines and temples to "pray" they do it just because they've always done it, they don't necessarily believe in it. Additionally, they'll do this sort of thing for fucking office printers and laptops.
In contrast r*ssians do it very religiously.
Minor difference of course being that unlike vatniks, Japan isn't illegally invading another country or planning to do so

just retcon it already, christianity shouldn't be a religion for pussies

      >since the bible prohibits killing
      Is that so?

      >Blessed be the Lord my strength which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight
      >O daughter of Babylon, who art to be destroyed; happy shall he be, that rewardeth thee as thou hast served us. Happy shall he be, that taketh and dasheth thy little ones against the stones.
      King David thinks differently.

      >If a thief be found breaking up, and be smitten that he die, there shall no blood be shed for him.
Bible indicates killing thieves is acceptable.

      >Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
Jesus himself commanded his followers to sell the clothes off their back and buy swords.

      >Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I remember that which Amalek did to Israel, how he laid wait for him in the way, when he came up from Egypt. Now go and smite Amalek, and utterly destroy all that they have, and spare them not; but slay both man and woman, infant and suckling, ox and sheep, camel and ass.
But don't take anyone else's word for it, God has commanded the genocide of an entire people and everything they own, down to women, children, even infants still breast feeding, and the animals the people owned.

So where did you get the retarded idea that the Bible prohibits killing? Don't try to pretend you know what the Bible says when you have never read it. Far from prohibiting killing, it outright and in no uncertain terms demands it.

The Cristero War was in 1929, the Troubles (not entirely over religion but was part of it) occurred from the 60s to the 90s, the Balkanization of Yugoslavia had huge religious components to it, hell even the ongoing Azerbaijan-Armenian war has to do with faith

Russia does it at the behest of the false Russian Orthodoxy, hoping to curry enough favour with God to make it so that their shitboxes don't explode immediately upon contact.
Japan does it to appease the fuckin machine spirits, which is infinitely more based.

Yes. It is. Because Japan has a strong, good culture which appeals aesthetically. Aesthetics fill the empty moments, and that describes most of everyone's life. The deeper and purer the beauty of the aesthetic, the more warm and familiar it is. A handshake with history, casual and timeless, and friendly if you're that fortunate.

Japan is fortunate, but unfortunately is being invited and compelled to join other cultures in a "voluntary" decline, by the elements in those cultures responsible for it.
