>It's been twenty years and the only comparable game is Arma 2 and 3
What gives?
And please inform me if I am wrong and their are good milsims out there I don't know about
Mods this is related PrepHole-core game threads have been board culture for 12 years
Go outside and get a real hobby, you are an adult start acting like one.
Go back to the Ukraine threads fuck face
I already shoot, what else is there beyond shooting and vidya
>HD2
Yeah the desert bits were great but let's not call it a milsim.
>that mission where you're defending an ancient oasis from germans with a squad of 4 and there's a Panzer hiding out in the sands that you have to either snipe with a bazooka (lolno) or savescum and crawl up to in the middle of the night to blast it straight in the ass
>that airfield assault that kicks off the Africa levels
It's a good game no doubt and definitely one of a kind, but until the enemies can't tank a .303 to the chest and still stand there and the AI can cover a corner without staring at the wall and getting blasted.....
>ate my image
Then you get to the Czech levels and can't stop your teammates from running straight into an SS squad's STG44s.
I think they did what they could considering the limitations of the time
Tarkov for cqc combat simulation is good.
Bullshit. Tarkov wipes the floor with ARMA.
>Tarkov wipes the floor with ARMA.
As much as I love Tarkov despite all the bullshit there's some retarded details where it makes you question if the autistic level of model detail is worth it
eg. full-auto animations consist of your PMC yanking the trigger over and over at like 600-1100RPM
"No"
Tarkov's damage model is worse than Arma's, hell, it's worse than the Red Orchestra series'.
>9mm does more damage to flesh than 5.56
>.45ACP does almost as much as .308 and shitty FMJ rounds will rip through class 4
>4.6x30 AP SX will penetrate GOST class 5 cleanly
The wiggle that killed tarkov
From my limited experience, arma 2 and 3 had very terrible teammate AI compared to cold war assault.
Cold War assault is unplayable. I don't know how those graphics even passed back then.
>Cold War assault is unplayable.
Gameplay wise it's ok.
>I don't know how those graphics even passed back then.
Don't really care about graphics
I don't either, hence why I mostly play old games. But pre-Arma 2 Arma is just dogshit man
>arma2
>old game
fuck off zoomer
Operation Flashpoint*
Codemasters can lick my hairy ass
Fuck, thats a game I haven't heard anyone else mention in a long time. S-tier taste, OP.
>be little kid.
>Watch big brother play because too young to play properly
>Bro would show me each gun and tell me about it, tell me about WW2 history.
>Some of it was fuddlore tier but he tried
>Get older, bro moves out, gets guns himself
>"Hey anon, remember H&D2? Wanna come to the range and try out some of the guns we used to talk about?"
>Later gives me the m1 carbine from the range day as my first gun when I move out.
Excuse the blogposting, stirred up good memories.
I had my hopes up for Ground Branch like a year ago, but it really is just a drip-feed of new content that will never really pan out to something enjoyable for more than an hour. Even Arma Reforger is dogshit. Servers with mods get fucking broken after 45 minutes because the gear queers make half-assed attempts to flip assets from other games that are poorly optimized. The last honest-to-god fun shooter I've played is Rising Storm 2.
Played the shit out of this, you've got some nostalgia googles on my friend
The game was fairly buggy and the mechanics were clunky as shit
Only reason i played it was because there was nothing better available at the time and i had many clan folks to hang out with
R6 Rogue Spear
Ghost Recon + D Siege, and Island Thunder
Full Spectrum Warrior
Brothers in Arms: Hill 30+ Earned in Blood
I really like the latter three bc you play out a narrative of a larger campaign. The location progresses mission by mission as your forces take objectives and allies that die are gone for good. You aren't just superman, soloing a bunch of disjointed locations in a larger unseen battle.
Operation flashpoint.
