Its been over 2 years of conflict in Ukraine.

It’s been over 2 years of conflict in Ukraine. What is /k/‘s verdict of the Ukrainian T-64’s (and its updates) combat performance in the conflict. How does it compare to the zigger tanks the Ruskies have?

It’s a death trap. Ours blow up as easily as the enemy. Sorry to say but it’s true.

Is it true it's mostly about your operational and tactical skill? If you were capable to get fully geared merkavas or abrams what would you prefer.

What about T64 Bulat? They suppose to have upgraded armor Nizh ERA and Varta APS. Is it enough to protect from pidar with gayot? Or it's only drones now and those upgrades doesn't matter?

        Anonymous

NTA, only a few Bulats were ever procured by ukies military, and it turned out the upgrades were just too much for the suspension and hull to handle, according to what ukies publicly stated (that it makes the automotive parts wear out fast as frick) so the whole project was canned, even despite lighter weight Nizh variant that got developed.

What causes the enemy’s to get blown up more often?

        Anonymous

The fact they're attempting to advance and being crewed by Moscow churkas. That said the t-series will never NOT be a death trap while it stores the ammo the way it does. There has only been ever one re-design, once by Ukraine and never by Russia, that stores ammo in a safe(r) way. THAT said, the t-64 line is a little bit less of a death trap than the t-72 line.

It depends, if you’re in a post war vehicle put into service with whatever happened to be laying around then you’re probably feeling like a mobik shoved into a T-72, but if you’re in a Bulat with the best equipment that Ukraine could afford then you’re probably in the MBT equivalent of the M-55, a flawed Soviet era vehicle operating at it’s peak

      Anonymous

Eh, I think looking at the T-64 like it's an MBT is the wrong way of doing it. It weighs almost half the size of the Abrams and has more in common with infantry support type tanks like the M10 and Leopard 1, to which it had excellent protection in comparison.

I think the Ukies used it as SPGs early war. I haven't seen any recent footage of them.

      It's a pile of shit.
It got fricking raped in 2014 and continues to get raped in 2022+.
They are just bad tanks, like all core soviet designs. It'll be no different with Changs versions when they end up at war as well.

Ukies learned in Donbass that they aren't a valid front line tool. They are used as assault guns and fire support at most, which is what most old tanks end up being, since even a 60 year old gun can lob decent HE at enemies, even old Soviet autoloaders.

what happens when the vast majority of tanks have Trophy APS or Ironfist APS installed?

    will missiles/mortars/shells/drones/grenades/jdams be obsolete?
    will tanks dominate everything?

The fact that they basically never show up in Ukrainian footage kinda tells it all. Meanwhile, we get Bradkino every week.

      >64 = 80 > 90 > 72 > 62 > 55/54
64 and 80 are more dangerous as the charges stacked vertical in the autoloader
      90 > 72 > 64 > 80 > Leo 2 > 62 > 55 > Abrams > shit > vomit > Challenger

I'm not even going to debate your ranking T72 over Abrams. It's not worth it but putting Abrams lower then T55 is just poor attempot at trolling. Even considering you tried to judge "observable performance".

In Ukraine Abrams has exactly 0 (zero) k/d ratio while its price is at 3x of T72, maybe even 4x or 5x I have no time to check right now. T55/62 are at least cheap. Challenger couldn't even reach the line of contact. Both Challenger and Abams have net nagative effect on Ukrainian efforts, these tanks redeem but don't deliver. I'd bet my left ball if Ukrainians were given fixed sum of cash and were offered to choose between buying N of these expensive tanks and N*x of Ts they'd choose Ts.

T80 is too expensive with barely any edge over T64. T90 and T 72 are both safer for the crew than T64 and T80, and are relatively cheap. Leo 2s performance looks comparable to the upper models of Ts but it is still much more expensive than Ts.

Considering they value lives of their experinced crews I bet they wouldn't. What now?

There are videos of Leos being hit by atgm drones etc. and not exploding/being able to move around afterwards which makes it better than any T series tank

Shes a good girl but could be better. T-64bm2 and bv standardization programs have slowed because of the war. But they're used far better than vatnigs. Most uke tanks have better navigational, situational awareness, and sights.
