They did try to cripple the infrastructure and all the shills gloated that it was done withing 1 hour of le special military operation, but it wasn't and they instead flattened various civillian targets (initially on accident, but then they stopped pretending to be nice) and superfortress Pisky (still not taken entirely).

They are starting to question things.

Yes I remember it. It was during the first 48 hours, that they tried to take down some radio tower or something like that, and not only did they miss, but they also killed a family that was nearby. That was basically the moment that I knew that the operation was going to be a failure.

this is what westerners dont understand
every russian commander and intel officer lies about their results or info to gain favour from putin

this has resulted in that the russian high command knows jack shit about the frontline because every single officer is trying to save their ass because its something they have been doing since the brezhnev era.

this is also a big factor in the soviet deficits, every single manager was lying about meeting the five year plans, which led to the government knowing nothing about the state of the economy, because if you didn't lie your numbers would be so appaling that you'd get fired

its why auth regimes are shit, if you cant say the truth without being fired your military situattion will soon devolve into chaos
keep in mind, putin really thought that the war would be won in 3 days, which is why he sent 100k genderarmie to kiev, because he was expecting to deal with riots and not military resistance, so what happened is that all of them got fucking obliterated, because they were not ready for actual combat.

Yes the mighty powers of adaptation in the Russian military are legendary.

Its not that I disagree so much as I can't even begin to understand why someone would claim this in the first place. If they are capable of that god-tier level of fluid coordination why did we watch them fuck up basic attempts at manoeuvrism before retrenching to mass fires. They don't even have the comms for it, let alone the command structure, doctrine, training or ground-breaking revolution in military affairs to enable it.

The frontline and the coast/roads are basically the only strongholds. Once they breach it they can sweep behind the rest.
Once they get past the first frontline, they could literally just bypass most of the land and pop centres, just like Russia did, and then collapse in on said forces afterwards.

Still, if all goes well with Russia then we no longer have the need to be prepared for two major global conflicts. And we're poised to make a lot of money off of the arms industry. It becomes exponentially more difficult the longer they live before they start training, though.

Jackson city's regional government not fixing it's own water problem is not the fault of the State or the Federal Government. They just brought up Ukraine to whine.

I think what Ukraine has discovered, between their successful Twitter feint and this blitzkrieg, is that if you can get passed the target zone of artillery and then move fast enough that they can't get it sighted in (not to mention you're too close for them to their forces for them to use it), then you can beat the Russians at record pace.
They were already worn down from a month of supply depot loses.

      Anonymous

Correct. I think they figured that out during the twin cities battles (getting in so damn close, the Russians couldn't use their arty-spam).

The Russians are vulnerable to close-quarters battle.

The Battalion Tactical Group is utter shit and they're going to lose the war based on a Nationstates tier understand of warfare. Russia worldbuilt their nations entire military around cramming as many fancy weapon systems into a battalion as possible while nerfing the entire infantry component. Only two hundred infantry, not even two full strength companies, protect the entire formation. As a result, they have a real bitch of a time taking and holding ground. On the defense, it can spit out a lot of firepower and keep the enemy at arms reach, but if there's a breakthrough, they're totally fucked. Even if everything worked exactly as designed and there were enough comms to support the army, which their isn't, the absolutely fucking anemic infantry element just cannot protect the entire formation... And that's why they're retreating like morones in the face of a mechanized advance. This is not going to rectify itself throughout the next few months. The Russians went all in on a retarded doctrinal concept and they're getting buttfucked.

Sure, maybe the BTG would make sense if we were fighting a war on Mars, for fuck sake, but this is the planet Earth... And here on Earth, unprotected artillery and air defense get closed with and destroyed by the infantry.

Putin humiliated Russia, he needs to get the Lavrenti Beria treatment, a "special session"

      >Beria and the others were tried by a "special session" (cпeциaльнoe cyдeбнoe пpиcyтcтвиe) of the Supreme Court of the Soviet Union on 23 December 1953 with no defense counsel and no right of appeal. Marshal Ivan Konev was the chairman of the court.[55][56]

      >Beria was found guilty of:
      >Treason. [..]
      >Terrorism. [..]
      >Counter-revolutionary activity [..]

      >Beria was executed separately; he allegedly pleaded on his knees before collapsing to the floor wailing.[58] He was shot through the forehead by General Pavel Batitsky.[59] His final moments bore great similarity to those of his own predecessor, Nikolai Yezhov,[60] who begged for his life before his execution in 1940.[61]

        This.

Russia basically sped-run through the last six years of Nazi Germany in six months. Right down to a sick and enfeebled Putin basically locking himself in his own Führerbunker and proceeding to have a psychotic break from reality as his entire life's work comes undone.

their defeat in Kyiv completely eroded any possibility of a victory in any reasonable length of time, and yes it did cost them the war in the end

but heres my two cents, not to underestimate Ukrainian competency, but the Kyiv offensive failed mostly due to russian mistakes and incompetence

the Kharkov offensive succeeded here because the Ukrainian plan was simply strategic genius, in a way this is more "their" victory than Kyiv

when the books about this conflict are written, the Kyiv offensive will be a cautionary tale, and the Kharkov Offensive will be an example

    >ITS A TRAP

Could be, but I think its just a fuck up.

I think the reality is that the Ukrainians pushed in an area where the Russians weren't focused and didn't place that much importance on holding and the 2nd rate Russian conscripts tasked with holding it collapsed. So Ukraine took a lot of territory which is a big propaganda win for them but maybe less strategically important than they'd like to believe.

Ukraine does need to be wary of counterattacks though, if they get in too deep they invite having their supply lines cut and risk being surrounded.

Izium is absolutely crucial for the RU war effort since they rely so much on rail

      Anonymous

Izyum is essentially THE staging point if you want to attack the Slavyansk-Kramatorsk line from the north, or try to flank around it to the west. Izyum itself had freakin' 1st Guards Tank Army sitting on it. 4th Guards Tank Division, 2nd Guards Motor Rifle Divsion etc. Like, the literal fucking Taman Guards, the single most elite division of the entire Russian Army, with other prestigious ones accompanying them.

They guarded their flanks at Balakliya with seppie militia and SOBR, because Kherson and their attempts to go for gigafortress Pisky were drawing too much manpower south and everything was overstretched.

Strategically, losing Izyum and Kupiansk is a total disaster for the whole northern front and any future attempts to push the Ukrianians out of their main line of defense in the Donbas.

As for counterattacks? 1. NATO glowies are laughing at you. 2. Rsputitsa is about to start. Good fucking luck to the Russians trying to coutnerattack in that just after their main supply dumps for the area got overrun.
