It has been formally presented the requirement by the navy for improving the Italian navy in terms of quality and ships.
Beside the carrier, the navy also demands
2 more destroyers (for a total of 6)
1 support ship (for a total of 4)
2 other subs (for a total of 10)
I will leave my opinion, later, if asked, however beside this being a nice little trivia is yet another signal that the era of the "pax americana" is coming to an end, the next decades are gonna be brutal
can we name it Aquila (eagle) for the same name WWII carrier project?
why though? US and most of Europe are basically one through NATO. and in this framework the US has by far the strongest military
Italy's the master of the Mediterranean
And Italy has allies with bases all over the mediterranean. Buying another carrier is a shitty idea compared to buying more planes.
Financantieri goes toe to toe with the state so money is always coming back to it
>Broken window fallacy
I doubt that. Italy will not deploy outside the mediterranean or europe, and carriers are not necessary there, italian or american.
>I doubt that. Italy will not deploy outside the mediterranean or europe, and carriers are not necessary there, italian or american.
Italy already operates on the concept of "Mediterraneo allargato"
In 2014 the country made its first base outside its territories since ww2, the base in located in Djibouti
especially now with Crosetto as MoD
mare nostrum, crimea is rightful greco-roman clay
We live in a period of uncertainty, anon. Hard times are coming.
Everyone needs a carrier for the game plan to work. During a War with China a lot of NATO nations will take up freedom of navigation patrols so the US navy can put all its eyes on Pacific.
USA needs its resources shifted against China. A stronger Italian navy allows USA to shift some of those resources.

stronger Europe just means the US can focus more on China
>smaller NATO members getting serious instead of freeloading
>surely this will weaken the American order
I implore you, less 4chan and more meds.
The "Pax Americana" as matter of fact ended a year ago.
No it literally didn't. gay.
>one of America's biggest opponents attacks a tiny neutral party, eats shit and loses a colossal portion of its capabilities
>NATO helps the tiny neutral party, despite having no obligation to do so and despite the threats from the sore loser
>this means America is surely finished!!!!
Unfuck your worldview, my Black.
Do you know what "Pax" means dipshit.
Even if the challengers are dogshit, the American hegemony is openly challenged, and the pax americana has ended.
>zomg the US aren't protecting the whole Earth! That means they're finished!
>the US aren't protecting the whole Earth!
time to make our own domestic nuclear arsenal to safeguard ourselves
>the country that's being bankrupted by childfree boomers pensions and with a massive brain drain wants expensive toy
yeah ok lol
