It seems like xoxolian ukrofascists have managed to establish the permanent presence on the left bank of the Dnieper. What are the tactical and strategic implications of this?

    nothing much really
russians would not react since they already have their strategic reserves deployed elsewhere and ukies won't develop it much since throwing whole mechanized brigade over the river would be pain in the ass and risky

I am pretty sure ukies will attempt bringing armor over the river
theres no other reason to invest resources into getting control over the antonovsky bridge if all you want is to just smuggle in saboteurs and harrass russian positions
Ukies will probably use whats left of the antonovsky bridge as cover for their pontooning attempt
no clue if it would be succesful though

The point would be trying to convince Russians you actually want to do that to tie up some forces there.

yeah but the most unexpected thing is to actually do it
ukies dont even need to send good armor across the river to achieve significant
just some old soviet MBTs and IFVs like maybe 12 vehicles max

This. The Ukranians failed at their attempt to do an armored attack over land, only an absolute retard would then try to do so across a river.

Diverts defenders from the frontlines, as having a lodgement would allow reconnaisance of obstacles requiring clearing as part of a crossing operation, so ignoring it is an outsized risk. Before the d-day landings SF parties were dropped to recon the beaches, that's what these groups will be doing regardless of actual intent to imminently cross. If I was Ukraine I'd be using these guys to keep the door open for if there's a hard winter and the dnieper freezes allowing a wider crossing - they're now in control of all the upstream reservoirs so can control the flow to their advantage.

If they can't move armor and supplies across consistently and reliably then it doesn't matter.

The other thread about eating a mouse is about this bridgehead. The Russian forces are under strict orders to ONLy fire 8 shells a day at it since they have to conserve ammo. Russia is not taking the bait and is doing the bare minimum to counter and contain it.

If things were so threadbare on the Kherson front wouldn't the Ukies force the river somewhere? I assume this is when the river at its lowest.

Same shit as their raids into Russia. They're hoping to stir shit up so Russia over-reacts and diverts forces to Kherson region. This tactic is so obvious that even Russia isn't falling for it. Ukraine's diversion attacks have been pretty lame.

So they should just call the bluff and send a real force and start throwing armor in there.

The point of the flag raising is symbolic; to raise the threat of a significant effort by Ukrainians in that area as a possibility. Same as it has always been, really, except now the Ukrainians are leaning even harder into it.
They want it to be known as a problem. One that needs men and material to stop. For Russia, that means pulling resources from elsewhere. Ideally, this can be done without Ukraine itself committing too much for the bluff.
    >but what if it isn't just a bluff
    now you're thinking

If russians keep ignoring it, ukies can use this area as a staging ground for diversionary and sabotage operations. I don't think they'll use it as a beachhead for a full scale attack across the Dnipro.

So based on Kharkiv and Kherson, a series of ineffectual chimpouts against civilian infrastructure. Got it.

Even more poorly-trained cannon fodder, armed with progressively shittier mid-century Soviet gear? If I was the AFU, I'd take those odds.
    >If hohols keep pushing then the nuclear taboo might be broken.
The U.S. "might" send F-22s and F-35s to secure air dominance, too. I'm not holding my breath on either.
    >Of course on a smaller scale punishments are performed, think of Bucha and Irpin but then even better.
Yup, thirdie regional powers in a nutshell: threatening further torture and murder of innocent civilians, as a tacit admission that their army is so pathetic it can't succeed on the battlefield against a much smaller nation. Just another sniveling bully who got a bloody nose and now seeks to torment someone even weaker than their first target, absolute human garbage.

    Netherlands GDP>Russia GDP
    end of discussion

      Anonymous

Dutch GDP is largely consumed by Dutch citizens privately to improve their quality of life.

Russian GDP is largely derived from state controled industries and is directed towards the ends of the state.

Hence the Netherlands produces a lot of happiness and freedom. Russia produces a lot of influence and control. Not really comparable on a dollar for dollar basis.
