It seems i have gotten my drain cleaner device stuck in the drain and I have no idea how to get it out. I pulled for 30 minutes and nothing. I tried pliers too and it's just so fricked. I was getting water in the tub as I showered so the drain was a bit clogged with hair and whatnot. Wtf can i do? I know I'm moronic, I never had a dad.

unscrew the drain carefully so that you don't sheer the cross in the middle. if they brake, there is a tool you can get at any home improvement center. re putty when you screw it back in.

I wasnt sure you can even take out the silver part. I tried and as u can see it started to chip the paint away on the tub

the only chip I see is quite far from the "silver thing" and appears to be a chip in the enamel from an imoact. run a razor around the "silver thing" to loosen any attached paint, then look up the rest on youtube. if you cannot digure it crom there, you deserve to pay someone to come fix it for you.

Fill the tub with water, then drain and pull it out as the water flows out

It just gets jammed on the middle part though because it has that yellow knob

Cut it off. Like when a bass swallows the hook, just cut the line and throw her back, feeling a little bad that she will be dead tomorrow.

Stick screwdriver into that quadrant that is opposite of where you shoved the cleaner in there. Jostle that b***h around and push downward on that side, the cleaner looks like it goes over and then upwards into the overflow preventer

The tool has several bends in it and is wedged in in several places. Don't just keep pulling on the handle. First try to hook the lowest piece you can see with a something like a coat hanger and work that out first. Then cut it and work on the next segment. Finally you can pull on the handle.

It also looks like it might be caught on the stopper. Loosen the screws on the stopper lever escutcheon and pull the stopper out.

How stuck can it be? Just pull harder and maybe some of the teeth break off.

Looks to me that it's bent at two right angles. Pulling harder is likely to just break off the handle. I don't understand what is just below the cross-piece that it is bent around.

Upon further examination, I think it's just bent in the right angle of the drain and not stuck on anything there although the bend will cause much of the pressure from pulling it to be applied to the crossbar rather than to the rest of the tool. I think the most likely explanation is that it is entangled in the waste arm of the plug/stopper. If pulling on it just breaks a tooth that would probably pass down the drain. However if it breaks off a section of the backbone, it will probably clog the drain. Safest thing to do is to remove the plug/stopper and waste arm.

        That's a good pic.
Some drains don't have a lever in the waste arm. They have a sliding valve in the overflow pipe. Either way, that mechanism is a good place to get things stuck. Try taking off the overflow cover and pulling the linkage up to free the drain tool.

Yes, of course it depends on what's clogging/slowing your drain.
They're great if someone in your family has long hair.

Those things shed more hair than dogs. Would not recommend.

Yes. I used one to clear out a completely stopped drain when I moved into an apartment that previously was occupied by 3 stoner girls. The drain would take a few hours to drain on its own.
When I used that plastic implement, what I pulled out was the nastiest mess of hair, complete with dye for said hair, that had wrapped around some cheap israeliteelry. The smell, which was beyond comprehension, was that of rotting death and chemical.
Flushed the drain with water, and then left some chemical drain cleaner in there for a spell. While not necessary, I wanted to salt the earth, so to speak.
Afterwards, the drain functioned as if freshly installed. 10//10 would recommend.

remove the overflow cover above the drain, it might be caught on the stopper.

Poor .5 cups of gasoline slowly and then light it. It ain't stuck if it's liquid.
