To be fair Pakistan would actually gain something from this besides money. Russia‘s military getting fricked up will also inevitably mess with India one way or another.

They're in a geographically advantageous position for both sides and they like to play the geopolitical games. They're not as unstable as Afghanistan, they've got nooks, hate India, and they'll play ball with anyone as long as they get something out of it.

Right now as we speak, English speaking gentlemen in suits and dark glasses are carrying briefcases full of cash into the offices of anyone and everyone who might have some spare 155mm lying around and making polite enquiries as to its availability.

      >Blinken: That's appreciated but hear me out, I have a cunning plan
      >Blinken: You buy your oil from Russia and save some money but don't send anything to Ukraine, politely decline when asked and stay out of it in a way that seems to favour Russia
      >Modi: Sounds controversial, you know I don't like controversy.
      >Blinken: It will anger a few people but if you can endure a little international criticism, Pakistan will side with Ukraine over it and send crates and crates of ammo

Don't be taken in by brainlet news media. They aren't running out of shells. They still have a lot, although how many of those are serviceable is another question, and they have been ramping up production to produce more. There is never going to be a moment where they've fired their last shell and having nothing left. What IS happening is that Ukraine is making it exceedingly difficult for them to get shells to the front line. All those shells don't matter if they keep getting blown up in depots halfway to the front line. That's why they're firing fewer shells per day than previously.

      Anonymous

And also they've shot out a bunch of barrels and need to replace/refurbish them, which takes time, effort, and logistical support to move the barrels back and forth.

They're not able to keep up high tempo bombardment anymore. Ironically this actually seems to be helping because they're doing what I like to call "recon by meat"
Sending in a meatwave with drone oversight. Watch the meatwave get gunned down. Counterarty the enemy positions. Wash rinse repeat.

  18. 1 year ago

their entire military doctrine is to LARP as a global power and peer of the USA.
then they try their shock and awe elaborate set piece operation and realize they fricked the duck, nothing works, they aren't the USA.
Then they try to walk a creeping barrage from one side of the country to the other.
That usually works, but Ukraine is a bigger country than they're used to bullying.

They had poor estimates of shell consumption, the ammo depots that got blown up didn't help either. So they need to curb use until production can sustain heavy use again.
