Is This What Peak Performance Look Like?

>Has all the ergonomic advantages of the AR
>80% of parts are interchangeable with the AR
>Has better charging handle than the AR
>Has better reliability than the AR
>Piston design so no more gas in the face unlike the AR
>Much more optimized for suppressors than the AR
>Has a folding stock
>Accuracy on par with the AR
>Can mount any accessories that the AR can

How is the Perun not a total upgrade from the AR platform?
Is there any reasons why the Perun shouldn't replace the AR in the next 5 years?

Only issue is that it is a bit heavier.

    >same weight as an AR

    >folding stock for vehicle comfort
    >cartridge that makes 6.5 grendel look like ginger beer
    >each mag of 25 is same weight as 30 rounds of 5.56. So one extra mag per soldier (7+1 instead of 6+1) to get basically the same ammo loadout
    >means substantially greater engagement range and can thump through soft skin vehicles at range unlike 5.56 all while maintaining an undiminished volume of fire.

It'll probably cost 4 grand before you start talking optics and shit.

Same but 6 grand and rounds will cost 3 to 5 dollars a pop.

I still cant figure out how the charging handle works
does the shiny bit get pushed upwards as you're charging it
sorta like a dustcover or something

Best part of this gun is that is copied the XCR/Bren 2 bolt controls which are the best around. Charging handle location is a bit funky. Wonder how much it’ll cost if it’s ever sold on civilian market?

Has a sort of hybrid DI short stroke piston system which allows for better suppression and the use of a folding stock.

        >DI short stroke
That sounds pretty fricking complicated, is it used to reduce piston harmonics?

          Anonymous

Not really. The gas tube ends at the receiver where, there is an adjustable cup where the piston head resides.

So it's a standard DI action then instead of Stoner's moronic variant of DI? Not sure how this is revolutionary given that both the Hakim and MAS 44/49/56

              Anonymous

In essence, except its impinging on a short stroke piston inside the receiver instead of the carrier. Less revolutionary and more convoluted.

It's really not. Ian described it as elegant, and once you get into the guts of a detail strip you get a pretty good look at what he means by that.

Less of a consideration for theoretical military contracts, but then again it's not like the new M7 is particularly cheap for civilians at the moment either.

Huh, that's funny, I have an non-firearm lower from an old bushmaster that looks pretty much like that. Maybe I should get the upper and make a non-gun.

The upper rail is necessarily high over bore to fit the bolt and piston. This really shouldn't matter for AR engagement range but it's the main nitpick I can think of. The hybrid system is clever and the parts compatibility is nice, and the modularity is also thoughtful.

Uses the same bolt and barrel as an ar meaning it is as accurate as what any ar can be

Confusing and don't see any benefits in interchangeability.
The lower is different from standard and still needs to be changed for different magazine such as pistol.
The new upper now connects the stock and handguard. It is still the same "keep multiple uppers, sights zeroed and read to go" or "just change out the barrel or BCG and redo the zero to use the same upper" except more expensive and less choice.
It is only good for "I want to keep my upper to the appropriate stock for purpose and weight balance" /"I got a more affordable SCAR" / "I want my flashlight centered on the top rail"
The handguard looks like you can use any other's, except you need to slot them on top for gas tube.
    >you know what would be peak performance?
An upper receiver that keeps the magwell so the lower only includes the trigger and grip. In that way It can be any caliber for any mag, ready to go once the lower is slipped on and hammer force is appropriate.

Kurwa any native Pole (we know far more about this than you ever will) can tell you the MSBS is a completely original design that is nothing like the ACR. The receiver is more like a SCAR, if anything, why would we copy a failed gaypul design?

Have you ever shot an AR? Like, ever?

        Anonymous

That's not how it works noguns.

ARs are no dirtier than any other gun, gas comes out of the BARREL not the gas tube. All gas from the gas tube is ejected out the side of the carrier, nowhere near the chamber.

If you use a silencer that produces excessive backpressure, just as much shit is going to get into the bolt/chamber area of a Perun as with an AR of any type. Changing the method of operation can never stop it.
