Current Irwins are poorly designed, sloppily made garbage.
Don't know about Stanley's version shown, but everything I've bought of theirs in the last five years or so has been crappy, barely better than HF if you take time to pick the least shitty tool out of the bin.
Milwaukee makes a nice vice grip clone, made to very tight tolerances, has the same thumbscrew as picrel, and won't pinch the living shit out your palm when they snap shut the way Irwins can.
Made. Past tense.
The plant closed last year.

Is this decent or are there better alternatives for the same low price?
Anon, sometimes it's okay to just use a tool that works, and not expend any additional effort trying to find "the best" one.
If they grip and they lock, then they work well enough.
Just buy several cheap ones of different jaw sizes and configurations, I've got a draper 3 pack of them that I've been abusing for years that cost me a tenner. Get the needle nosed ones as well, they're great.
it's fine
Just buy original irwins, they arent expensive.

Seconded. I bought a set and they're Harbor Freight tier, and that's being generous.
Eagle makes the only one worth buying. They bought the original patent and make them here instead of Chyna

You're right but one never wants to be ripped off. Either way I bought them.
Somebody post Todd’s video already!
