Every fucking time, thanks for reminding me how much I hate this shit
The Air Force has security forces, and even managed to beg for a SOCOM spot, so anything is possible. >Space Force
I really think that this is 30-50 years too early, the Air Force could have maintained command and control over the current satellite network.
I for one, think that 11B in space would be awesome. Just think of it. Spacemen first class getting smoked on the moon. You could get a Space RANGER tab. You could get your Air Assault rappeling from helicopters or your Airborne when you’re parachuting on the moon! You could have SPACE alcoholism!
Jokes aside AFSOC feels super underrated every AFSPECWAR guy I’ve met has been a smart stud and why do they have such great hair? Is it a selection requirement?
>Be a peaceful alien coming through a stargate to meet the people of this new world, set up trade, and promote harmony. >immediately get lit up an M2.
Doing John Moses Browning proud. Total Xeno Death.
No. There might be a case where they have a dude with a very technical SIGINT/satellite comms/etc MOS attach to a SOF unit to do something but under no circumstances would this hypothetical person be a doorkicker.
For guarding launchpads, sure. Its a pretty narrow remit though, so it would be a tiny corps of people. You could also potentially have recovery teams a la PJs for securing downed satellites and rescuing crews who reenter in hostile territory, but I'm not convinced that would be a common enough thing that it couldn't be done by any number of other SOF units; and it would really be down to who is closest to the impact site rather than who is most qualified to scrape burned metal off the side of a mountain.
Probably not. The battlefield in 2023 is already extremely inhospitable to infantry. In a future battlefield where the sightlines are thousands of miles in any direction with nowhere to hide and everything larger than fridge is protected by laser CIWS with functionally infinite ranges, I don't really think there's any place for infantry.
in the immediate future, other than for as base security no.
it is my expectation that the USSF when we are able to colonize other planetary bodies will simply choose to use the USMC as apart of a joint task force much like the navy. I could also see there becoming a further split of the USSF and a USNSF (United States Naval Space Force) much like the Coast guard and the Navy. where the USCG is for littoral waters, the USN is for deep waters, the US Army is for general ground forces, the USAF is for atmospheric combat, the USSF is for combat and defense of the gravity well of a planetary body, a purposed USNSF is for combat and defense of the Voids between planetary bodies (much like the freedom of navigation), and the USMC is a expeditionary fighting force, which with the development of technology would likely fund and manage a "Trans-Astra," specialization subset much like the Rangers of the US army. the problem here is similar to the US coast guard is that we need to have a pressing issue to actually need to want to use a Navy. we don't need one because as of right now short of rouge-bodies (comets, asteroids, and rouge planets or planitoids) there isn't a direct threat the occurs in the void of space. and the few threats there are, can be delt with using our current resources without special treatment. that said I do want to dub any US marine guarding a USSF base or outpost as a space marine.
that said I expect that any "space marine" in the future is likely to on average use marines with 5 years of experience as their basic infantry because of the sheer level of intelligence required to accomplish most planetary maneuvers and deal with the void of space.
Multiple countries are already setting up to stake claims on the moon. Mars of course is next. You're going to need boots on the ground eventually. And they're not going to just shuttle Marines or Army there with no training. No doubt they'll have their own training and ships eventually, but someone has to be first and likely we'll have Space Force corp eventually

bro why do I gotta spell it out for you?
This, and don't get me started on Uranus.
I want to start on Uranus.
When the United States collapses into civil war and Washington needs Volkssturm-in-space fodder in a futile effort to avoid total defeat.
So which fanfic is this? Chink fanfic or Vatnig fanfic?
Even better
MAGA fanfic
🙂
>Implying MAGAmutts know how to fire a gun let alone hold one
You're funny 🙂
to hold the space trenches.
yes as you need boots in the vacuum to occupy space
Does gunpowder combust in a vacuum?
yea. Vatnigs even fired a cannon in orbit from a experimental sat in their hayday
>Vatnigs

stfu vatnik. SLAVA UKRANI
>what, a person disagreeing with me?
>he must be pro-Russian, no doubt about it
you're pathetic
Why the fuck are you even on PrepHole if you don't know that gunpowder has it's own oxygen
yes, but:
> lube boil-off
> +1bar relative pressure increase
> zero air cooling
however:
> no drag
> no magnus effect
> no weathercocking
> no earpro required
Gravity, freefall, whatever, or the lack of it, is a separate issue.
>shoot gun on moon
>miss
>bullet is now on an orbit
>hits you a day later
A lunar day is 28 times as long as an earth day.
Plenty of time to get out of the way.
Goodbye birthdays.
This should happen to ALL gun owners, Megan's Law in action!

AFSOC actually does shit that's relevant to Special Operations
>not using other branches
>not cross training
This is why we can't get the infrastructure fixed.
Cross training on what? How to walk an airbase parameter as an 11B?
I for one, think that 11B in space would be awesome. Just think of it. Spacemen first class getting smoked on the moon. You could get a Space RANGER tab. You could get your Air Assault rappeling from helicopters or your Airborne when you’re parachuting on the moon! You could have SPACE alcoholism!
ok never served
next you're going yo suggest the navy should use airforce planes
the air force tried that and it got F-4 phantoms blown up in the tet offensive and pilots having to defend themselves with m16s and captured guns.
Too bad it’s like 12 dudes total.
Jokes aside AFSOC feels super underrated every AFSPECWAR guy I’ve met has been a smart stud and why do they have such great hair? Is it a selection requirement?
>The Air Force has security forces
Are you trying to imply that's a bad thing? You need them to guard bases.
Never too early to start, son.
I hope so.
Of course.

It's like you haven't even seen Starship Troopers.
Next moon landing will find a lovecraftian pyramid and tomb on it and you’ll see exactly how important moon infantry will be
>implying that shit isn't already classified up the asteroid

Who the fuck is fighting in open space? That's for spaceships. Still need people to clear out the shattered remains of cities.
What cities?
>clear out the shattered remains of cities

You'll be eating those words once we find Necrons on the moon.
I don't know, you don't know, and none of these gays know.
fastest way to elemental waifu
bro how are you supposed to board ships if you don't have infantry

fun fact: until very recently the Space Force had the only horse mounted cavalry unit in the entire military
The end of an era.
>Space Force
>horse mounted cavalry
What, Neighjor Tom?
Gotta get to them remote radars and telescopes somehow.
Also it's why they got infantry. They're base defense guys
Subtle.
>Space Force Horse
Source?
Of course.
Check the Space Force Race Course.
Mounted color guards don't count?
I know Fort Riley still has one.
You always need people to pull security, wash the parking lot, and paint rocks.
