Is there any practicality in conceal carrying something bigger than a handgun?

Purely theoretical - was just thinking about the limit between practicality and size.

If you can do it with ease, then why not? It'd be nice to be able to carry openly while in town, but too many people react badly to it.

I think you either CC it well but cannot draw fast enough, or just carry it openly.

This. If you have to carry a full on rifle every day of your life you should change your lifestyle. Just having a compact 6 shooter is already a huge step up from your average Joe.

Get any modern day handgun, practice drawing from concealed carry and getting your first shot on target, that will do much more to keep you safe than a manpurse with an SBR.

nta, but IIRC from that study the furthest range in all those shootings was 11 yards and the max rounds used was also something like 10-13.

also, another big part of that study, was that zero of his students who had a gun on them lost.

      >Practicality
No, not really. For concealed carry you are best served with a compact handgun. If you want more capability (capacity, sight radius, power), you can bump it up to full size handgun or carry a backup. The important factors here are that it can be kept on your person at all times and that it doesn't cause undue burden as you go about your business. For the vast majority of people:

Back to the design board, Timmy. Your rifle should be in your vehicle. Zero reason to go shorter than 10.3 unless you're using 300 BLACKED

That would only happen if I'm sleeping or something, which I don't do around strangers. You can't just take someone's gun without a struggle, so there's plenty of time to shoot them while they're attempting to take it from your bag or the whole bag.

If someone tries to take the gun off me, I shoot them. You know, with the gun. That I have on me at the time. Do you keep a tiny man in the grip of your truck rifle in case someone breaks into your vehicle and tries to steal your gun while you aren't there?

If you think the chance of getting caught up in a riot or mass shooting outweighs the hassle of carrying it around all day, I guess.
If you're going up some dude with a rifle and plates, well, maybe you'll be able to pull off a headshot with your ccw while he's facing the other way like Dicken in Indiana but a rifle if your own would help even the odds.
If you're going up against a hundred "protesting" Black folk your goal is to presumably force them to disengage enough that you can gtfo, and take out anyone who draws a gun of their own against you. Most likely your ccw will be enough especially if you carry a high capacity mag and a reload but it'll be easier with a longarm. On the other hand, might make you more likely to end up being prosecuted afterwards.

Both scenarios seem pretty unlikely to me. I keep a shotgun, plates and a full-size pistol in my car just in case but I freely admit they're not something I really expect to need. Still, if any sort of disaster strikes while I'm at work or at a mate's then I'll be glad I can go get my px4 rather than be stuck with my bodyguard.

With first hand experience carrying a 16" AR into a metro a few years back, I should invest in a SBR or AR pistol.

    >St Floyd protests in Minneapolis
    >lived a few miles north of it all
    >had to go extract a few friends who lived in the middle of it all
    >business two blocks over burned down to the ground peacefully that night
    >had a few morons attempt to chase the vehicle on foot
    >didnt even get to close the door before rolling out

    Shit was wild.

From a legal perspective this is moronic. If a DA in even a moderately libtarded city finds out you pulled a fricking rifle out of a backpack and shot a Black person they will attempt to rape you legally.
    >BUT MY FAVORITE GUNTUBER SAID THAT THE TYPE OF GUN DOESN"T MATTER IN COURT!!
It doesn't matter in LAW. But it does effect whether the DA will bring charges and an image of you pulling a rifle out of a bag is not going to do you any favors in front of a jury of 40 year old white women and mailmen. Do what cops do and keep your long gun in the car. If you see a Black person riot approaching you should be trying to egress from the situation so you should be using your pistol to fight to your car anyway.

Yes it's worth it whenever you go out in public where lots of people congregate (e.g. Walmart), because schizo mass shooters can strike pretty much anywhere. Most people want to think their microcompact 9mm pea shooters will be enough in a situation like that, but I would rather have something bigger at my disposal if it's practical.

Ten years ago it might have been ok, but Black folk are a protected species in 2024, so shooting at rioters period will turn you into the next Kyle Rittenhouse. Basically the only way you'd be able to get away clean with using a backpack SBR is to stop a mass shooting.

I’ve been wondering about this myself. I work in a bank and there have been a couple black dudes running around pointing guns in peoples faces for their teller drawers. I carry a large computer bag in to work every day that stays in my office with me that I could definitely fit something bigger than my Glock 17. Can’t cc because I would be terminated on site if I was caught imprinting so it stays in my bag. Wouldn’t do shit about your average note across the counter style hood up but I know people that have been held hostage for hours during a strong arm robbery. What do you anons suggest?
