Depends on your country, local ordinances, yada yada yada. Long story short, if you want to REALLY get rid of them you won't. These frickers breed too prolifically to ever reduce their population by a real factor unless we get some sort of government funded genocide program. If you've got some land and just want to keep them off then you can always get some of those trap cages that will catch a whole sounder at once and then you just shoot the frickers. Pro tip, though. Don't get one of those traps that drops the whole fricking thing when you trigger it. They're stupid. Get the one where the food pan is rigged with a pressure switch that will close the one door to the trap. Once the pigs eat enough food it will trigger automatically and should catch the majority of the sounder.

Do NOT fricking do this. Those things will maim animal and human alike indiscriminately.

          can they break the cage?

            Anonymous

No. The cage material on that trap is what's called a "hog panel". It's standardized prefabricated fencing that's specifically made for making hog enclosures. It comes in big sheets sort of like plywood. That trap has a welded steel frame (the brown parts) and has the hog panels wrapped around it. They CAN dig under it though.

              Anonymous

I got the knowledge in electrical, logic controllers and steel welding and was thinking of replicating something like that trap. What are the properties of the hog panel instead of using regular steel fencing on the frame?

                Anonymous

                >What are the properties of the hog panel instead of using regular steel fencing on the frame?
There are many different kinds of steel fencing made with different purposes in mind. You've got stuff like "chicken wire" which is light duty and has small openings but hogs could easily break it. Hog panels are specifically made to enclose hogs, they're strong enough the hogs can't break it. There's other kinds too, cattle panels are even stronger than hog panels but the openings are bigger so small hogs could fit through. There's other kinds of fencing designed for climbing animals, and so on. I assume they used the hog panels because they're easy to install, cheap, and proven to stand up to hogs. In a rural area they're easily found at any farm supply or feed store, lumber yard, etc. I'm sure other things would work too. Expanded metal or crimped wire screen certainly would work, though it's a lot more expensive than hog panel.

Interesting. Thanks! As long as they are weldable better to go with the purpose built alloy then.

                Anonymous

They are weldable, it's not some fancy alloy.
Another trap design you might consider is picrel. These are usually a lot smaller, you can't catch as many hogs at once, but they are easier to build so you can make several for the cost and effort of making one of the round style. These don't even need a trigger. The idea is the hog has to push up the angled door to get inside where the bait is, but once inside it cannot get back out. Just another idea to consider. You can see it's the same basic construction, a frame welded from steel angle and hog panel used to complete the cage.

              Anonymous

That means the WILL dig under it when they have realized that they can't get through it

                Anonymous

Yes. They are usually set off via remote control by a human rather than some kind of trigger. That's deliberate so you can wait until all the hogs come to feed and you trap them all at once. If the trap just had some kind of a tripwire or sensor or whatever to set it off then most likely one of the little pigs would have triggered it long before the adults came out of the brush. The adults are a lot more wary than the little ones. Anyway, once the trappers see that the whole sounder is in the trap they trigger it, and the hogs are immediately either shot or taken away in cages. Many of this kind of trap have a special "port" built into the side where a cage (often built into a trailer) can be temporarily attached to transfer the hogs.

That this heavy duty equipment, you need a truck to transport it. Also, the pigs get too excited when you trap them. They have to relax for days for tasty game. However, you have that tradition of marinading meat and also grill cooking the meat over night, so that will cover up for most turn-offs in taste. The rest can be processed in sausages. Actually, your hog heavens sound like a hunter's paradise. In Germany, hog hunting is pretty restricted although they are very well fed by CO2 fertilization of the forests and when there are too many hogs in the forrests they will go and ravage the farmlanda, they especially havoc Indian corn fields. The designated hunters have to compensate the farmers for all of the "pig's gold" (Indian corn) the hogs have eaten and destroyed. Yet, the dead hogs get a better funeral service than 99% of us humans. The ceremony includes the last grazing and songs with the bugle - when it is done right 🙂

                >That this heavy duty equipment, you need a truck to transport it.
Yes, though a pickup truck is standard for every farmer or redneck or anyone with a lot of land here (and even a lot of people without a lot of land), so that's hardly a problem. If you've got land with a hog problem it's a given that you've got at least one truck.

The hog problem is BAD here in the US south. People do eat them but they're really treated more like vermin (rats) than game animals and are exterminated on sight whenever possible. There is no closed season, no weapons restrictions, no bag limit, no other restrictions, i.e. you can shoot them at night, with spotlights, over bait, from aircraft (no, not a joke), with dogs, etc. In my state they even waived the requirement for a hunting license in order to take them unless you are hunting on public land. Private land? No hunting license needed. The state wildlife department estimates that if people were killing them at 4 times the current rate then the population would be held steady. As it stands the population is exploding.

hmm, in my state it's always legal to shoot an animal regardless of hunting season if you catch it in the act of damaging your property. For example, shoot a durr outside of season? Game warden will rape you. Shoot the durr outside of season while it's eating plants in your garden? That's legal, so long as you don't take any trophies. Perhaps something like that exists in Georgia?

Shoot them with 22 rounds and let them bleed out and suffer over a few days.

I've never gotten this psychotic shit.
I am very annoyed with hogs constantly fricking up my property and as a consequence I shoot them.
I think guys like you are really just nasty low iq psychos looking for a socially acceptable outlet to talk about your desire to torture animals.

Frick. I had a boss that hunted every weekend for fun. The way he and his buds stacked hogs up they could retire on that kind of bounty.

It would fail because people would exploit the system by breeding hogs specifically for the bounty. Why hunt them when you can just feed them garbage in a pen an let them multiply?

This shit famously happened to the days of British colonization in India
          >Damn, there sure are a lot of cobras. Let's put out a bounty on them!
          >People start breeding cobras for farming muh bounty
          >Government catches on, stops the bounty program.
          >The people who were breeding cobras now found their "livestock" worthless, so they just let them go
          >more cobras than before

Whites, Indians, and blacks are not equivalent.
Shit, American blacks and African blacks aren't even equivalent anymore.

Environmental factors, which can include everything from generational nutrition to international migration to disease to the effects of war, can dramatically effect the measurable traits of a group of people, including but not limited to IQ, testosterone, and criminal tendencies of various stripe.

In may ways? Of course they're not equivalent. But basic human greed and the desire to exploit is consistent everywhere. You think white trash aren't gaming the welfare system just like Black folk or the poos who bred snakes for the bounty in India? Doesn't matter what color people's skin is, if you set up a policy that's ripe for exploitation people will do it.

The devil is in those details you're ignoring. They determine degree, frequency, and commitment to various criminal efforts, yknow everything actually important about a determining the end result of a trend of behavior.
Because you're autistic, you're looking at two candy bowls, where two thirds of group A steals (and steals more per theft) and a tenth of group B steals (and steals less per incident) and saying "see? Everyone's the same because there's thieves in both groups."

dude, why don't we just make crime illegal?

Track sightings and kills of boar on a heatmap, after a few months of exterminating boar on all the public land/private land you have access to, you'll be able to see where the Boar are moving to and from, and any breeding grounds will become clear. Offer people tax breaks if they'll allow inspectors to comb through their property and livestock and make sure there are no boar.
Investigate malicious boar breeding under the same purview that allows the state to police chemical dumping and the protection of endangered wildlife. Impose heavy fines for the purposeful breeding of boar, exactly like you would for purposefully destroying the environment or dumping hazardous waste. Now people not only have an incentive to turn in dead boar, but also to let you clear boar off their property, and you essentially get free money for allowing the inspection regardless of result. Now you've made harboring boar more of a hassle than a profit.

The Indians did the exact same thing under the British (except with snakes) but worse since the Brits stopped the program once they caught on and as a result, those snake breeders released them into the wild since there's no more money coming in.

Once you trap them, you can go all Mengele on their ass with biomedical experiments while cumming on their rough fur. Also should castrate some of the males alive
For example I also hate chihuahuas and some years ago my ex’s friend left hers in my care. At first I put the gay little dog on top of an open door’s top edge, so it couldn’t get down. It was so scared and squealing lol
Then I put it in a 5 gallon bucket and added chlorine made by mixing bleach with muriatic acid in a small container and putting that in the bucket with the dog, so it doesn’t contact the liquid but is exposed to the gas
It was really flipping out and making choking noises. Interestingly, its corneas became opaque, cloudy. That’s when I took it out. After about half an hour its eyes became clear enough, so when the b***h came to get her dog back I didn’t get caught since there was nothing visible on it

It was a power trip. I was in an abusive relationship with a BPD psycho and this was an outlet. For what it’s worth, I didn’t want to cause any permanent injury to the dog, and I felt guilty afterwards. And the only other instance of such behaviour is locking an insecure dog on the balcony to make it squeal for an hour. Since then I’ve curbed such lashing out so I’m good now

Glad to hear you felt guilty, but why the frick did you stick a dog in a cloud of chemical vapors if you didn't want to cause permanent injury, which that easily could have done? That's like juggling knives and claiming you were trying to avoid getting cut.

Tannerite in a bucket above bait. Naturally put pebbles and rocks in it to help keep it upright. Drag the dead hogs to the edge of your property. It'll spook the rest of them, knowing your fields are a death zone.
