Is there a way to remove the idiot markings on a firearm? I do not purchase guns with idiot markings on them but I am considering breaking that rule soon. I don't care if it ruins the resell value of my gun I don't sell my guns ever and never plan to so this is irrelevant. I just want a method of removing it that doesn't ruin the aesthetic or look of the firearm.
Could I just take it to a gunsmith and have them do something?
yeah, you grind it off then refinish the gun.
I don't have the time or skills for this. Is this something gunsmiths offer? i.e. I drop off the slide, let them know I want the idiot marks machined off, and then have the slide refinished? Will the end result be essentially the same look but without the idiot markings?
People always defend it saying "muh lawyers" but I own several handguns and none of them have idiot markings. Some of them are made in the USA so that's not an excuse either.
>You'll want a machinist to mill it down past the lettering and refinish it.
Do they need to mill the entire slide or just the part with idiot marks? Any machinist or a gunsmith specifically?

0/10 bait, no (you) will be given
>Is this something gunsmiths offer?
Some of them, yes.
>I drop off the slide, let them know I want the idiot marks machined off, and then have the slide refinished?
Yes.
>Will the end result be essentially the same look but without the idiot markings?
You better hope so.
>Do they need to mill the entire slide or just the part with idiot marks?
A good one will do both sides evenly to make everything match nicely.
>Any machinist or a gunsmith specifically?
I don't know where you live so I don't know who would be good for you, but a gunsmith with a proper mill (not a drill press with an end mill chucked up) would be a decent bet. Ask around.
Lol no also blame ruger for not b***h slapping the moron boomer that didn't watch enough john wayne movies.
>Could I just take it to a gunsmith and have them do something?
You'll want a machinist to mill it down past the lettering and refinish it.
Why exactly do you NEED to have that warning removed?
It should be there so it should stay there.
It's a constant reminder that we're surrounded by subhuman trash.
>Why exactly do you NEED to have that warning?
ftfy
>READ MANUAL BEFORE USE
Ugh, only morons would want that on their gun
>FOR MILITARY AND LAW ENFORCEMENT USE ONLY
Woah so cool stamp that on my post 04 lower right now!
56796724
Who are you quoting? I don't want that shit on my guns either.
When we say idiot marks are we talking about "GRIP ZONE" and "READ OWNERS MANUAL" type bullshit, or are we talking about idiot scratches where a used gun has marks all over it from some bubba trying to assemble it or disassemble it incorrectly?
>When we say idiot marks are we talking about "GRIP ZONE" and "READ OWNERS MANUAL" type bullshi
That is clearly what OP is asking about, though you're right, "idiot mark" usually refers to a disassembly or gunsmithing frickup, or maybe hitting the frame with a punch trying to move a sight or remove a roll pin.
We're talking about OP's pic related. So yes, gripzone, owners manual, etc. You sound like you need idiot markings on your gun if you couldn't figure this out.
No, the guns where you are required to read a book to disassemble are next level
If you try to scratch them out forensics investigators can still read them with ultrasound. You have to completely remove the metal to remove all trace.

bot reply or moron? I only want to remove idiot marks I'm not touching the serial #.
Why does smith and wesson have so much annoying shit on their guns?
>idiot stamps
>hillary holes on revolvers
>wavy gay lines on their grips that go straight through the grip texturing
>you don't understand, I NEED to give my money to people who think I'm moronic, because...because I just DO, OK???
>Damn, that's a lotta words...
>Too bad I'm not read'n em!!
Get a white paint marker, rub over it, then white it clean with a rag
>end mills, what even are they!?
Former gunsmith here. I removed all these off my Rugers using a metal hand file and then polished and reblued. Not that hard if you know how to use a file but the finishing work and rebluing or what ever coating will require a gunshop with the right equipment.
I want firearms labeled that CAN'T fire with the magazine removed
Last time I tried and it didnt work it felt like living a nightmare
Frick the C9 for that reason
This makes me think. Can you alter an existing gun so that it can only fire with the magazine removed? Like chamber a round, drop mag, fire, put mag back in, repeat?
No? The firing mechanism on most guns isn't linked to the magazine in anyway at all.
>people who don’t know there can be a round still in the chamber after removing the magazine can own guns
Do Americans really?
Oh totally yeah
There's a funny article written by and about an antigun soccermom who bought and carried a handgun into starbux, realized she had no idea about the state of it/potential danger, started having a breakdown and randomly approached a cop begging him for help, potentially like gun-in-palms shoving it away from herself at him but I can't remember or find the damn thing anymore
Forgot to add she bought it to either prove how easy and dangerous it was to do, or just because she could to see how it felt I forget which
>Do Americans really?
Yeah. Join the ATF.
For us Europeans, carrying a gun everyday is pretty much an idiot marking.
Removing the depth of material to make it unreadable wouldnt compromise the structure?
>mogged by somali hatchet or incel crossbow
Ok
>Europeans
>Not seething about something americans are doing
All is correct in the world I see.
>STOP TELLING ME WHAT TO DO, GUN!
grow up dork. you'd love it if it was in a different language.
>Is there a way to remove the idiot markings on a firearm?
yes but you need to not be an idiot to figure out how
>i don't own a single gun, but it's because i dont like the markings
Yeah you definitely need the idiot markings on your guns if you think there aren't plenty of guns that don't include them. I own 7 firearms and not one has an idiot mark on them.
>I own 7 firearms and not one has an idiot mark on them.
I'm sure you do, underaged poster
>idiot who bought idiot marked firearms realizes he's moronic and starts coping against anyone who refuses to buy them.
LOL
It'd be easier to fill and cerakote than machine it off and refinish
t. machinist
Correct answer
>calling the engraved warnings idiot marks
>instead of moron runes
why do you spend money on so many guns? It's not like you're gonna make it.
if you were looking to ceracoat the slide, you could fill in the lettering with epoxy
Lol expect a lawsuit from the manufacturer for removing safety features if anything happens. Those are for idiots like yourself, OP.
>t. moron who owns idiot marked guns and feels the need to cope about it.
Why would a manufacturer sue you for removing a safety feature on a gun you own, you noguns homosexual? It's your property. You're completely talking out of your homosexual ass.
you're trying too hard, kid
you could fill the lettering in with solder and sand it down flush and refinish it id recommend bead blasting the area before solder application
Pic rel is the only one that ever bothered me.
