Is the Benelli M3 a good shotgun?

I'm 2 day's and a thousand bucks away from getting one.
Am i getting something my money is worth?
Is it some sort of meme gun?

Eurogay here by the way, so normal Pump-actions are out of the question.

Starting to debate grabbing one since I keep seeing one in the shop. Though I'm not sure if I should given I already have a Saiga

I doubt you'll regret it, and if you do, just sell it and get all/nearly all your money back.

Like my M3, funnily enough I mostly use it in pump action despite me thinking that'd I'd barely if ever use it. I take it you're Austrian, I've always wondered how it and the SPAS-12 were classified

It's great quality. The combination of semi-and-pump is a bit gimmicky generally speaking. I don't think there's much practical use for that for most people. If you're on a budget or you want a pump for pump's sake then buy a pump. If you are willing to pay more for a decent semiauto then there's no reason to keep the pump feature, just get a dedicated semi.
But if there's weirdo laws in your country that make pumps illegal and this is an exception which you can have? Go for it, I don't think you can go wrong with a Benelli.

Its Germoney, there are ways to get pumps but its a hell of a struggle with the
    administration.
Thanks guys now im convinced to get one

Why is this? I'm not up to date on your laws, genuinely asking

Currently its ridiculous. Everything is very influenced by hollywood, if a Bad guy used in in 80's movies its a big no no. No Fullauto, no Pumps, mags on semis have to be limited to 5 shots. Even knives (OTF, Balisong, Brassknuckels etc.) are illegal to own. Normal Knives cant be longer then 5 " if you want to carry it outside your home.

The only way to get a real firearm is by getting a hunting permit ~8-12k€ or joining a Shootingclub (~500€ a year members fee) and take part at least 1 year before getting backroundchecked

So you’re saying you can get a semi auto shotgun which with practice you can shoot 5 rounds in a second but you can’t get a pump

            yep....

Also there are cartridge size regulations. .308 &. 223 is fine but 7.62x39 is to "short" no under no condition you are allowed to have a weapon in that caliber. If you somehow get one you will be charged with the Kriegswaffenkontrollgesetz -> up to 10 years in Prison

              >7.62x39
Milsurp bro. It's a blanket law to basically destroy that market.
Can't have a bunch of Germans with cheap fixed magazine sks' now can we?

Ah I see. It seems that one thing that is consistent across the board in politics is the people that make the laws around firearms have absolutely zero understanding of them.

            >people that make the laws around firearms have absolutely zero understanding of them.
So, you can't have a "shoulder thing that goes up"?

          >~8-12k€
Stop talking nonsense, a Jagd is no way more expensive then 5k. I got mine for 1,4k. Mags on semis are limited to 10 cartridges, pumpguns are as perfectly legal as otf knives. Sks's and AKs in 7,62x39 are also legal. Cartridge length has nothing to do with the Kriegswaffenkontrollgesetz.
Ich glaube, du denkst dir die Scheiße aus. Bist wohl so ein beschissener Sportschütze.

If you have to pay even 1,4k just to own guns, Scheiße is what your laws are

I don't deny that. Our laws are shit. The other guy was just using an extreme hyperbole.

Eurofriend, why do you all use a comma instead of a decimal?

              Anonymous

A comma divides and a period ends. We're the ones that messed that up. You can see how he says 1,4k but we say 1.4k, when we mean 1,400 which uses a comma...

                Anonymous

I read 1.4k as 1.4 times k (k=1,000). I know its just because its what im familiar with but using a comma to divide things by powers of 100 and a decimal to denote numbers less than 1 just makes sense. Big things and small things shouldnt use the same system.

Pointless gimmick. It doesn't even have the cool factor of the SPAS 12

Yeah it unfortunately works unlike the SPAS 12, weighs less too.

Yes, but it has a very small after market and good luck finding a short barrel for it.

you won't be disappointed by it, but frankly, i think that's kind of disappointing in it's own way. it does everything right, to the point where if you wanted a gold standard, it's probably a benelli. i've just always been found of the weird stuff, but there's a reason a lot of competition shooters use a benelli.

Its excellent. M4 is too heavy.

It's the perfect shotgun and morons won't understand so don't listen to them. Of course it's beneficial to be able to switch between pump and semi, and the Spas12 is way too expensive and bulky/heavy.

There's a Turkish it clone but obviously it will break. More pump/semis need to be made, the M3 patent is expired so anyone can make a clone or similar shotgun.

It's the beneli m2 with benefits.
The m2 is a fine gun in its own right and I argue that the operating principle is better than the Benelli m4.
Get the m3 and you will have a solid shotgun with the added bonus of a cool factor of dual mode operation. It will also keep a good resell value as they are not as common as the other 2.
The m1 btw, is just the m2 but with more metal parts.
