Though honestly and not really against your point, but I actually think this is a mistake. Arctic ice is breaking up with global warming and that whole area is going to become navigable at least some of the year, and it's at least one area that is a genuine, major weakness for the US Navy. We've got piddly shit for serious, nuclear ice breakers. Obviously we've got top tier submarines but that's the extent of US Naval thinking about strategic competition in the Arctic, going and operating underneath the ice, not in surface ocean above it.
I'd really like to see that change. We're one of a handful of nations with actual arctic land frontage and an otherwise top tier navy and we are very hampered. Rather then throwing money at retarded shit like the LCS I really wish Congress would fund American nuclear ice breakers and have them be considered as part of strategic logistics.
