Is Kherson about to fall?

I keep seeing articles about how Russia is evacuating the area around the city. Is this finally it? When the frick is it gonna happen?

The "reinforcements" are most likely just the forces they are pulling back from the outlying villages and countryside. Otherwise it's more hastily trained conscripts they're shipping directly from Russia.

The only reason Cascade Falls didn't result in a nuclear holocaust was because the Americans did it on their own (internationally recognized) soil as an act of defense.

That's sounds more like a Pyrrhus situation where the enemy nuke themselves as a last ditch attempt to turn the tide and then go on to loose the war regardless.

        Anonymous

Really depends on how much of the enemy force you are able take with the attack.
Ala the Atlantic Federation taking out 80% of ZAFT's attack force when they used the Cyclops System (Concentrated microwaves array) to destroy their own GHQ.

        ?t=1123

Realistically, I doubt the Ukrainian army would commit that much towards even Kherson.

That's a really small nuke anon

      Anonymous

Not only that, but blame them for 'stealing a nuke' in a suspiciously forward deployed launcher. A 'radialogical event' stresses Ukrainian logistics and morale more than casualties in a few big tactical yield booms. Then they can destroy the dam in the name of "reducing fallout". Not only is the river impassable now, it's glowing. They could send as many troops as they like north to do the human wave schtick, which is all they ever got.

      Anonymous

Yeah I think it's more and more likely they will.
It's going to be completely obvious, nobody is going to buy it, and it's going to draw worldwide condemnation but they're still going to fricking do it because every generation of Russians must suffer the consequences of their leaders actions, and this will be the point for this generation.

        >a cowardly nuke
even the shills are spreading the dirty bomb meme
holy shit Russia is actually going to false flag a fricking nuke, aren't they?

What really gets me about this dirty bomb business, is that it feels to me like it's just a downgrade from the nuke threats. They figured that nobody is buying the nuke threats, and rightly so, because even the russians are not stupid enough to use one. So they're moving on to something that still touches on the nuclear taboo, but isn't as bad, so maybe the west will buy that they actually mean it this time.
        Pathetic.

          Anonymous

Let's say that's it, a dirty bomb blows up, spewing radiations and such, wouldn't the bomb and its specific nuclear material could be traced all the way to the specific facility that are creating the bomb because of how specialized it is to make such device?
I believe i read about that from the stuff that happened with Alexander Litvinenko and how the brits managed to trace the plutonium all the way to the specific Russian nuke facility that are processing the stuff. I wonder if the same line of investigation is possible in case of a nuke going off.

            Anonymous

            >Alexander Litvinenko
My understanding of this is that the russians used a specific isotope of polonium that only they possessed, in order to send a message. If they'd used uranium or plutonium it would have been impossible to trace, but they used that isotope of polonium as a way to say "frick you, what are you going to do about it".
But really it's not like you'd need that kind of forensics to figure out it was the russians, just like the gazprom pipes, it's the russians because of course it's the russians

It's probably going to take a while. Russia's options to evacuate forces is extremely limited since they only have the dam and a single pontoon bridge to get vehicles across the river.

Ukraine is most likely biding their time until the frontline forces weaken enough that they can effect a breakthrough and set up a tighter perimeter around the city itself where it will be much easier for them to bombard forces inside the city and on the opposite bank.

Interestingly the US SecDef was the only person Shoigu didn't mention a dirty bomb to in his calls yesterday. US, UK, and UA all made statements about it, but France and Turkey haven't mentioned it yet. Seems like they want Russia to know how openly we are sharing intel, even with private citizens, but such a concept is completely foreign to the Russian mind. Kherson has been about to fall since April. I wouldn't count on it. The Russians would be smart to abandon it though, keeping soldiers on the right bank takes up a lot of resources that could be used elsewhere.
My guess is sometime soon we will see Snihurivka liberated and the Russians will reduce or abandon completely their positions on the left bank of the Inhulets.

If the Russians are STUPID enough to try to buy time with amateur troops rotated in, it's very likely the new guys will break under the pressure. The Ukrainians will then position themselves to exploit the breach.
