Is doing on the spot Guidance a decent idea for your military preparedness?

Kim does weekly suprise inspections of weapons factories, units, even farms on a almost weekly basis. They have what amounts to a weekly reality TV show where he shows up at a random place, inspects everything and gives his opinions on how they react to him showing up and how he thinks they are doing.

Is it a good idea for a leader to visit his weapons factories and units to make sure they work like this? I imagine it can be never wracking to suddenly have God show up and start yelling at you about the lack of workers blankets, why the sight on the latest rifle wobbles or why the latest missle launcher hasn't been powder coatedbut it does keep them on their toes. I can't but think that Kim pays more attention to his MIC than Putin does. Is it good idea? He is micromanaging by some standards but it seems to be working.

He already has nukes, he isn't Quaddfi (PBUH).

He has something way more important to be pissed off about right now namely that someone fricked up and ruined his tidewater reclamation project and by their own admission flooded 27,000 acres of rice and corn with sea water.

Don't get worried that Kim Jong Un is building a few more nukes or a few hundred tanks more than he did last year, got worried because their state media is showing him getting really pissed off over a failed crop that his underlings ruined due to mismanagement of a stratigic non military project.

Does he look like a happy Kim in this KCNA picture?

It really is pretty awesome, the sites are easy to navigate and are almost impossible to 'spoof' or fake. Because their self contained web is so simple they can't really fake stuff, they just go balls to the wall with their web design. Their entire web is only about 500 sites and most of it is just archives of educational stuff, the rest is a bulliten board that their universities use. It's the internet from 1992, but Juche internet. .

An autocrat can get away with micromanaging a geographically small area, to a degree.
And if nothing else, creating internal propaganda that gives the appearance of North Korea having a fully functional and independent economy and supply chains has its own uses. Think of it like a propagandized version of Modern Marvels.

I think that the reason it works is that it is so small. The best run nation on earth is Liechtenstein but that is a tiny abslout Monarchy run by a copetent and fantasticaly wealthy ruler. The DPRK has 25 million people and reasonably competent dictatoprs who have been doing it for a while, i think they are becoming Monarchs that actually care and are becoming competent.

Note that since the Korean war they haven't had a war since, the Kim's have kept peace. Also they are capable of defending themselves if need be despite having most of the world wanting them dead. i like that.

          >and only use a propriatary version of Linux for their entire web.

They really are the best Korea, aren't they?

Old article but it is very basic but functional:
          https://koryogroup.com/blog/naenara-exploring-a-north-korean-computer-internet

It is based on Linux, any windows or Mac functionallty is a built in app like how it auto spell checks words like KIM and puts it in bold letters one size bigger than the text.

I actually like Kim, more meant that any photo involving autocrats inspecting weapons brings that scene to mind. While I think Juche is an inefficient ideology I can respect the idea of trying to make yourself self-sufficient as a nation even if it's foolish.

I like how it's small enough that if someone fricks up the leaders will fix it, even if it is a Kim showing up in your flooded rice paddy. This is way past that point, Kim should not be that damp and is probably really pissed off.

I think it's mainly a Mao-style thing where he shows up and looks at the rocket and asks them a few questions about how they did it, and whatever the answer is, he says whatever they did is good. It's kind of like being an encouraging mommy. Xi also does it:

500-650 of the top generals, officals and factory managers in the DPRK are either direct blood relations of the Kim Dynasty or married to a direct blood relative with children who will become direct blood relatives. If your union does not produce a directblood relative you get divorced.

Party membership and rights to live in a big city like Nampo or Pyongyang are at dependant on 12 years of military service in a system that promotes officers from NCOs.

It's a very well organized gangster state that combines the best qualities of a Monarchy, the Yakuza, a fuedal state and a nuclear armed 25 millon man missile factory. It might suck but it works. If you lived there you would be working or fertilizing a ditch.

Those excavators have a weird base. Are they on a barge?

I think they are just big chinese excavators, they are reinforcing a tidal barrier so the rocks they are on top of are pretty big. It's a huge excauation project, both Kims have done them. It's a tidal barrier to create a fresh water river delta.

Every one of them seems like nice people, they just have hard lives and wish everyone would leave them alone. I legit don't care what NK does so long as it remains within their borders. The constant aggression towards Japan is the main reason why people are unfavorable towards NK, that and the nuclear sabre-rattling is just generally distasteful to everyone alive. If they chilled out on those two things people would go from hating them to being neutral for the most part. Problem is they're a bit of a vassal state since China does most of their trade with them, China really frickin' hates Japan, and honestly there's just always been tension between the Japan - Chinese - Korean peoples. It's been a big deal that South Korea is now working with Japan on some stuff militarily, and it's honestly impressive that entire part of the world has kept their beef with each other to constantly shitting on each other in the media and some missile tests for the last couple generations.

That article you linked is both brutal and funny.
        >Clearly stating that the damage is not a calamity caused by natural disasters but a human disaster by irresponsibility and indiscipline of the loafers from A to Z, he said that pardon can never be allowed for those politically immature persons who do not keep step with the appeal of the Party Central Committee, mental under-wits who do not accept the warning as a warning, bureaucrats who ignore the safety of people's lives and property and those who are unfaithful to their duty for the Party and the revolution. He gave orders to the Organizational Leadership Department and the Discipline Inspection Department of the Party Central Committee, the State Inspection Commission and the Central Public Prosecutors Office to ferret out the responsible organs and the persons concerned and strictly censure and sternly punish them by the Party and law.
Hearing Best Korean writers translate their insults into English is funny as hell. But the officials that caused this disaster to happen are going to feel the state go full dedovschina on them.

Russia is a puppet state in a Iran/DPRK/PRC power struggle which they are not allowed nor capable of joining.

North Korea is a weird, Western hating hermit state due to the US carpet bombing the entire nation during the Korean War. Look up how many bombs were dropped on NK and how many Koreans lost their lives. If your nation were completely brutalized by a foreign power, you'd probably hold a grudge too. I also don't trust Western medias take that it's a dystopian shit hole. NK surviving the war wasn't supposed to happen and the current state portrayed to us, I believe, is done so to convey the illusion that even though we didn't really win, we still won.
