A gun you take to the woods

Woods gun would be a firearm typically carried into a woodland setting, primarily a North American forest. They are called woods because there are a lot of trees in forests and trees are made out of wood, hence the nomenclature of 'woods' being used in reference to a forest. The gun is held by the person who is in this terrain.

        >A gun you take to the woods
Wow, I couldn't figure that out. What are you doing with said gun in the woods?
Hunting? Animal defense? Crackhead defense? Are you expecting return fire?
Unless you're expecting to be shot at a full-size 9mm is probably all you need for self-defense.
If you're hunting durr an AR is probably just enough with the right ammo selection and good shot placement. Anything larger should demand a larger caliber because nobody wants to drag a big carcass any further than necessary.

A heavier bullet would suffer less deflection due to brush.

Brush deflection has never been proven to exist in any formalized test scenario. Rednecks on youtube do not prove your meme brush gun.

Lighter, faster bullets do deflect more.

I want very badly for someone to load these in a full sized rifle cartridge and push them to obscene velocities, see if they'll punch through steel plates and what they do to meat.

I suspect with the right barrel length you'd be at mach 3, if not over it, with any of the suitable full power rifle calibers.

Black person you must have failed basic physics.

I use .357 magnum so .223 in a full rifle barrel will be more potent than what I use.

ive been using a 300blackout. its lighter than using a 308. it does the job but when i go higher into the mountains I leave it for the 308 cause bears n shit. all depends on where you are and what your doing with it.

Depends on the critters in your area. Black or brown bears? Sure. I prefer 7.62x39, but 5.56 with the right loads are fine. Moose are mean frickers though. With them or a Grizz? Uh uh. .308 is my choice. But unless you have to deal with them, you can take a Mini-14 or whatever and you’ll be fine.

Mini14? But why? An ak or ar is so much better at everything.

Only reason to get one is its on extreme sale/hand-me-down, or your state has some law restricting ARs and AKs

Because it’s a comfy boomer gun for comfy woods times. ARs or BRs for fighting, AKs for STALKERing, Mini-14 for the woods. For me, anyway.

I have a mini 14 because I genuinely enjoy shooting it more than an AR.
