In war, is being a soldier than being a civilian

I always hear people saying this. I feel like this sentiment is propaganda from the war hawks or people who have a warped view of the conditions soldiers are in during a conflict. They are practically bonded to the conflict whereas civilians have the option to flee.

People will say that soldiers are the first ones to be fed and are taken care of more. This doesn’t seem like the case from what I’ve seen but do you guys think this is true?

Depends. Can you get the fuck away from the fighting or are you stuck in a combat zone?

Statistically, you are obviously much safer as a civilian than as a soldier during a war.
However people really, really dislike feeling powerless, so they feel like, if they are fighting, at least they can have a tiny amount of control on how the war is going and when it will end.

There's a war going on in my country, but I can shitpost on basket weaving forums. Would I still be able to if I was in Rwanda in early 90s? Probably not.

As a soldier you at least have the power of some kind of logistics and organization backing you up. Your odds of death are high since you are an active combatant, but in theory you have a little more going for you. A civilian would be limited to whatever organizations are immediately available, maybe they become a partisan or get in some Red Cross shit, but one big benefit is that there’s really not much stopping you from GTFOing to a safer area. Its a shitty pick your poison type of situation basically.

I found that in war, being as soldier is even than a civillian, as civillians can, of combat, but this ignores that casualties affecting civillians will.

Women have always been the primary victims of war. Women lose their husbands, their fathers, their sons in combat. Women often have to flee from the only homes they have ever known. Women are often the refugees from conflict and sometimes, more frequently in today’s warfare, victims. Women are often left with the responsibility, alone, of raising the children. Women are again the victims in crime and domestic violence as well. Throughout our hemisphere we have an epidemic of violence against women, even though there is no longer any organized warfare that puts women in the direct line of combat.
