Imagine the Belarusians manage to get their shit together and overthrow Lukashenko.

Imagine the Belarusians manage to get their shit together and overthrow Lukashenko. The Russians are naturally going to invade, if not now at some point in the future. How would this go for Belarus?

Won't happen but keep dreaming. You must be of the kind who still believe Ukraine can reconquer Crimea and the Donbass lel

I mean, I'm just curious, given that Belarus' geography is pretty damn easy to invade, and they got fricking butchered in WW2, I just wondered if that'd happen again with modern-day equipment

Lukashenko is a stones throw away from conquering Moscow.

If the colonel sees his chance, who are you to say he wouldn't take it?

Belarus is unironically a cargo cult shithole and the military is entirely designed and deployed so as to prevent a domestic attempt to overthrow the government, not prevent an invasion. It's a much worse situation than Ukraine was in because the Russian military is already integrated directly into the Belarussian security structure both to keep Lukashenko in power AND keep him in line, he has been kicking the can down the road on the Union State agreements for a long fricking time at this point and his reaching out to Russia for support during the last uprising came with pretty obvious strings attached.

There a lot of variables though, like when this would be taking place. If Ukraine really devolves into a full on Iran-Iraq style fricking nightmare and lasts 3-5 more years Russia will unironically have burned through all of their legacy equipment and munition stockpiles and be scraping the demographic barrel on available manpower vs men needed to keep their industries going. They might just be too exhausted at that point to effectively suppress an organic political uprising in the country. There is also the scenario where something medically happens to Putin as he ages and the Kremlin itself becomes paralyzed by infighting, the Russia state operates like a wheel with all the spokes leading to the Kremlin and without central authority directing them history has shown the tend to revert to power struggles very quickly. The fact that so many of these weird autocratic capitalist barons have private militaries just makes it even more of a fricking powder keg, nevermind that everyone just stopped and watched when Wagner started moving towards Moscow. That situation would be an opportune time to try to dislodge Lukashenko.

if it happened right now, this very second (i know, it makes zero fricking sense at all but just imagine), what could russia even do? it's already doing absolute dogshit against the ukes, starting a second war with a second country would probably be absolute suicide

shit i meant to reply to this post

Not great, but better than you'd think. Russia doesn't have the manpower to garrison Belarus given the current war. It'd be looking at either patchwork areas of influence or a Russian-aligned rump state with either option being very tenuous as Russia's enemies would be keen to turn Belarus into glowop central.

how the frick did that happen lmao

They tried in 2020, but Potato Colonel asked Monke for help, then HOMOs beat everyone up, and sent them to gulag

      >Potato Colonel asked Monke for help
Exactly. Luka had to beg for homos, cause when push came to shove, the army/cops wouldn't stand up for him. If the eggs hit the ass and Monke is nowhere in sight, there's nothing to prevent Potatoman from ending up like Ceausescu. His own buddies would be first in line to stab him in the back.

They also had to send HOMOS to Kazakhstan as well due to them being barely held together with hate an social dysfunction
Wouldn't surprise me if there was some kind of agenda to keep all the satellite states in a constant shit-fit of utter chaos that will keep them beholden to monke by having to bail them out of some kind of civil disaster after another. Keep em weak, barely functional but not so fricked up you're there all the time, just enough to keep them poor and nonthreatening. Which is sort of what Belarus is today, they don't have a lick of spit to run their own military, they don't want to give their military anything good or autonomy and its mostly there as being ornamental and sometimes used for parades.
Real homie business happens in the state security forces, they're the ones with their foot to come clamping down on anyone posing a threat to the political leadership

this is "Russian way" of dealing with satellites for centuries if they dare to have some independent thought - Russia starts sftly - dissinfo campaigns, then finance internal conflicts - if there is still none to be found small invasion and establishment of "peoples republics" regularly does the trick - if not full blown invasion commences - butthurt belt is butthurt for a good reason

The war in Ukraine ironically stabilized the situation in Belarus. Because the Belarusians are just thinking „how the frick did none of us die in this conflict yet“. Lukashenko is a very Smart Man.

They won't, it's over for them as a nation.
You can find more 3 digits IQ Belarusians in the open space of the mid size software house in Warsaw than on the streets of mid size Belarusian city.
