They are present in Eastern Europe NATO members since 2015, and Ukrainians were training with them for quite some time.

                vatBlack person confirmed.
                >Among the amendments approved as part of the deliberation process was a provision from Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) to authorize $100 million to provide training to Ukrainian pilots and ground crews to become familiarized with American aircraft. Ukrainian pilots and defense officials have pleaded for the U.S. to provide them with aircraft such as the F-16, and while thus far the Biden administration has rejected those calls, Kinzinger’s amendment was agreed to in an uncontroversial voice vote.

They would just fly them low and at night like basically all the missions on both sides are being flown. AA is a non-factor. The majority of downed aircrafts are coming from MANPADs.

Honestly pulling a "soviet pilots in korea" stunt is probably the only way A-10's will partake in the war. I can barely operate the fricker in DCS and that's with the manual in my hand. Now if there were some skyhawks or something in storage that might be a bit more compatible with eastern european air operations

a-10s are worthless. low and slow will just get an airframe killed. look how well helicopters are fairing in this war. russian helo pilots are so scared of getting within range of AA they're firing rocket pods as indirect fire weapons. what do you think will happen to an A-10? they are only useful in insurgencies where the enemy has absolutely 0 AA ability outside of a pkm.

It would be useful as a way to supplement Ukraine's missile capabilities. The A-10 has a decent number of hardpoints and could be very useful in such a role. Imagine a few A-10s patrolling behind the lines that can pop up and take out a Russian Orlan hunting for targets or lob a couple AGM-65s on positions lazer by ground units.

Main differences are the radar, which the A-10 lacks, the a-10 overreliance on the archaic concept of gun runs and the near 300Km/h speed advantage of the frogfoot

Is air support really a priority for either side right now? Don't they both have in-depth air defenses? I seem to remember one ukrainian claiming that while they don't have modern AA systems most places, what they DO have is a boomer TDF member with a stinger/igla posted up every couple kilometers, which is just as effective (against russians, mind you)

Even if Ukraine got 100 planes and 100 trained pilots tomorrow, would it make much of a difference?

Anything with a sniper pod is useful for Ukraine.
The main uses for this would be chucking Mavs and APKWS from max range and low altitude, also maybe lobbing paveways if they can get separate laser designation.
They would also actually be quite useful for attacking patrol boats ect.

Obviously though, Russian AD is too threatening for them to do much beyond that, and even then they would be at considerable risk if RuAF CAP shows up.
training pilots would actually be not too hard, the real issue is training maintainers.
IMO, it's a better use of time to train maintainers on F-16s.
F-16s can do all of that stuff, but also perform CAP and cruise missile defense, whilst being able to run away to Ukrainian AD bubble if the RuAF shows up in force.
