Jokes on you, now that Greece has F35 and Turkey has S400, Turkey can track Greek jets and sell that info to Russia.

    Should have given them Patriots.

Said Russia would be capable of doing anything with that info. They already have F-35 blueprints ffs.

they didn't even want the shitty vatnik missiles lol, they wanted the patriot TDP so they could go into business making and selling their own SAMs and nobody told the watermelon seller s400 was supposed to be a bluff to try to twist the US's arm

Why is Turkey obsessed with those gay Russian AA systems anyway? Obviously they don't work. Why is the world even buying Russian military hardware at this point? It's painfully obvious that whatever the West (or even the Chinese) produce is better.

because NATO is lagging in medium/long range SAM systems

NASAM is not medium range, but is extremely interesting and useful Sam nevertheless.

I hope, at least it can IFF better than in dcs

Tech transfer. They get to analyze it and study it. If only to compare turkey's native system and have a target to beat.

        >be south korea
        >get F-35
        >get latest F-15's/F-16's
        >also get to reverse engineer S-400
        >whilst also owning Patriots
why are americans so weird? why couldn't they just offer the same deal to Turkey i.e. you can use S-400's to develop your own missile system and only once you've wiped the vatnik off can you get F-35's

Turkey has changed a lot since the coup and its purges. The west is hostile to the now islamist dictator Erdogan so he looks east, what weapon doesn't matter, all work well enough, but buying weapons is a sign of goodwill and closer relations. It is a tragedy that such an important strategic position is controlled by islamist roaches sitting on the ashes of what could have been a western secular democracy.

        >the west is hostile to the now islamist dictator
It didn't help that the US was supporting PKK terrorist group to fight ISIS, right next to Turkey's border, when just a year earlier before both US/Turkey were key to fighting ISIS together.

So its a US turning against Turkey for what US perceives is "convenient". Don't get me started on why the EU pushed Obama into this. The whole Greek vs Turkey (600 years of ottoman empire history) geopolitics play into this.

Turkey literally helped ISIS and patched their terrorist up in their hospitals

Turkey had the option to buy the PATRIOT system, but Turkey wanted a technology transfer and the ability to manufacture and develop the thing on its own terms, which the US refused. Meanwhile, the Ruskies offered the S-400 along with the system's blueprints. So Turkey went for the S-400, and then promptly got kicked out of the F-35 program in retaliation.

The timeline is screwed up because of Obama's mistake in pulling out the PATRIOT missile for maintenance (unknown if thats true or not) + supporting Kurdish terrorist group to fight ISIS + Russian jet flying over Turkey's border forcing Turkey to shoot them down + the coup against the Turk president => Turks thinking US does not take Turk problems seriously and have nefarious plans against Turkey. This led to Russia trying to bribe Turks away from the NATO by offering them S400. Turks have lot of enemy on all their borders, Russia to NorthEast, Syria and Kurdish terrorist group to South, ISIS on South East, Greeks making trouble on west. Without any support from the US/NATO, the Turk's only answer lied with making peace with Russia for a bit to reduce risk for them.

It wasn't really about the S-400, Erdogan thought he could play both sides and make them buy his love but grossly miscalculated

Actually they wanted burger missiles, and America said no.
They still wanted to have an air defense, so they went to the Russians instead.
