I'm tired of mowing the lawn and dealing with weeds, but I don't want to just concrete the entire garden in case I change my mind later.

I'm tired of mowing the lawn and dealing with weeds, but I don't want to just concrete the entire garden in case I change my mind later. I'm looking for a semi-temporary solution to smother the lawn and kill everything. The only idea I currently have is ground protection mats which are normally used to protect soil from heavy vehicles. If I cover my garden with these will it kill the weeds?

    >I'm tired of mowing the lawn and dealing with weeds
So... don't mow the lawn and ignore the weeds?
Build a footpath out of normal paving stones so you don't have to trudge through the worst of it, and let the rest of the lawn "naturalize."
If you are living in an area where the 'authorities' will let you get away with paving your lawn over, then surely you can convince them to look the other way about the dandelions.

      >look the other way about the dandelions.
throw down a couple of beehives too
if anyone complains just go on a rant where you paraphrase wikipedia about how humans will die out if bees go extinct

Aw,,, does your mom make you mow the lawn in exchange for living in her basement? Wow, what a bitch. Teach her a lesson and move out on your own.
