Maryland has an assault weapons ban right? It'll basically be the same, except you won't be able to buy a handgun until Trudeau's gone, and even when you're allowed to again, you won't be allowed to carry it in public. Other than that, you'll need to take a weekend gun safety course and a background check before you're allowed to buy guns, and there aren't any magazine limits except on center-fire semi-autos. But the important question is why you would move from good America to bad America, you crazy nagger

not OP but leafanon. Canadians in the tech and other industries are moving to the US because the same position at the same job pays better in the US, there isn't as many benifits (inb4 muh freezed healfcare) but it doesn't matter when you get paid twice as much

          Leafanon here.

          The gist of it:

-you need a PAL. To get it, you need to take the 1 day firearm course, pass the exam and wait for the mail.
-you need another license for restricted firearms (pistols, certain rifles)
          - a gorrilion guns are banned as prohibited by name, like all ak patterns and ar-15
-Guns/ammo must be locked safely away at home
-IIRC restricted firearms can only travel between your home and the range, and you must be in a shooting club
-carrying is extra illegal unless you have a special permit, like you're a journalist with death threats or similar.

I hope you enjoy you stay.

          >IIRC restricted firearms can only travel between your home and the range, and you must be in a shooting club
this is true unless you live in Ontario but the logic is you can't shoot them anywhere but a range so why bother not getting a membership. you can shoot non restricted guns on "Crown land" (think BLM land but canadian)
          >carrying is extra illegal unless you have a special permit, like you're a journalist with death threats or similar.
I've never heard of this ever. I've only heard cops and cash in transit guys can open carry and only on duty and that there's 1 CCW permit in all of Canada and nobody knows who it is. rule of thumb is unless you're shooting at a range, on crown land or hunting you can't carry a gun. also home defense is fucked and you have to "expend all options" before blasting the person. its up to a jury of your peers to determine what "expend all options" means. i'd recomend joining a gun advocacy group they do fuck and all but i think the ccfr provides legal fees if you ever do shoot somebody in self-defense

Trappers, miners and panners can get permits to carry restricted guns, but it only applies to their line/land/claim.
Anybody can open carry an unloaded non-restricted firearms anywhere they want, in theory, problem is you're liable to get hit with disturbing the peace or similar.

While I agree our healthcare costs are gross they do ACTUALLY make 1.7x or more in the US than what they can in Canada. It definitely makes up for it especially when they can just go home to get continued cancer treatment or whatever if they really want it and find it to be of superior quality

Yeah, funny enough even Ottawa would be much better. It might be the seat of the regime, but it has several gun stores big and small, multiple indoor and outdoor ranges ranges, it's close to Lanark County with all it's public land, and even has a forest in city limits you can hunt in. In the GTA you've got to drive for hours just to find an outdoor range
