I'm homeless and curious as to what's the best way I can build a home. I don't mind pallet walls etc. The thing is where I'm squatting is an abandoned house with a huge hole in the roof and caved in floors. How would you go about this. Heres my idea
>bag up and bin all the inside
>(borrow) a shovel and Bury said bags
>rinse and repeat
>get bags of cement and mix it then pour all into the floor and form a solid floor
>begin working on roof
This is after i clear our any animals and bug nests living there.

Where to begin? Sorry for stupid questions but this will most likely have to be a primitive type job. Don't want anyone to hear power tools/ buying them would be a problem in of itself.

Put in a thatched roof patch using locally-sourced twigs and small branches.

I was looking into how they build houses and dens and what I was thinking was maybe even build an old house out of local shit like those YouTube homies and and then maybe carry cement blocks in 1 at a time to have an outer camod layer and a more secure one too. Then at that point I might aswell just do my best to build a bunker right?

Getting some education soon and I'll get bux for it

Why are you worried about fixing up a house that isn't your own?

I can do squatters rights I was here as a kid

i find it weird that someone can be living on their street and posting on PrepHole is highet up on their valuing responsibilities than earning enough money to rent someplace

What else can you do when you have to wait? I can't workout to save calories so all I really do is sit around and think and read books and sometimes get pussy when my gf comes "camping". Atleast then with some atleast a minimal amount of effort I can even put the tent in the room with the most stable roof.

that's because you're not addicted to opiates.

Ex addict? Simply got bored of the drugs. Not like I can really afford them anyway. Maybe a bottle of whatever spirits is on sale when I'm laying some pipe (her treat). She does smoke weed I do take the odd pull other than that have no interest in ingesting other drugs till its shroom season.

To stay on topic now cmon guys frfr whats the most bussin way to go about this??? The hole I'd say is about 1mx.6m and I doubt it's really worth the trouble if there's a big emligh room with a good enough roof.

EDIT: Thanks for the kind gold stranger!

How the actual frick do you live in that. I mean, at least how have you not cleaned up the swamp of rubbish? You're literally living in squalor.
Your best bet is to use materials from that house to construct a hut. Use a pry bar, hammer, and handsaw to collect wood and bricks, then use those to build your new shelter. That way, you can pick out the stuff that isn't rotten and mouldy.

If you continue to live in that house, you're at severe risk of your health going to shit. It's filled with mould, mildew, and animal shit. That stuff causes illness. Eventually, the roof is going to collapse or you'll fall through a rotten floorboard, and that will be the end of you.

Fix up the garage first so you can melt down milk jugs in there to make recycled plastic sheets or shingles to cover the other holes.
Use plaster to fill in any gaps.

      Anonymous

Think plaster and plastic will fix this? There is a garage aswell but fire will attract people due to smoke

        Anonymous

        Not a practical idea.

Don't count on squatter's rights. (edit) mebbe it works better in Eire.
Scrounge plywood or old sheet metal and patch the roof holes then put a cheap tarp on top.

Concrete is probably not a good idea for the floor. Scrap plywood and lumber.

Is the garage in better shape?

An option is to salvage lumber from the house
and when you get some cash buy a used flat trailer and build a shack on the trailer. If you have to leave the property you can take it with you.

        Does the toilet work?

Buy an old hand drill and use it to drill holes and drive screws, much quieter than hammers and power tools.

        Anonymous

        Serious answer, its fricked

if the floor is caved in the roof isn't far behind, you don't want to be under it when this happens, you don't want to be working on it when it happens, you don't want to be breathing mold and animal droppings from its decaying structure, even if you have materials to patch the roof and fill in the floor it will damage your health to live there.

If you want to build something I'd say just find a nice, flat, well drained spot nearby and build it there instead because it will be easier to start from scratch than to make

into a livable place. If you absolutely must use the existing structure then just use the garage as it probably has a concrete floor, and use plastic to make a clean room inside of the existing room with vents to the outside

The real advice though, get a job instead of trying to play fort with trash.

    If you are actually serious...

You need a tarp to cover the hole in the roof and some rope to tie it down. The tarp has to be large enough to cover the hole and go over the ridge of the roof. This will keep water from just running underneath it.

Get a roll of duct tape and plastic sheeting to deal with the windows.

The tarp is the most expensive part. Whatever you put into this you have to accept someone is going to show up some day and kick your ass out. By the look of it people were partying there at some point, it's a known location.

I don't see a pic of the floor hole but that's not too important right now. Get a box of garbage bags and a broom, clean the shit out of there. If you manage to stay here for a couple months, try to get a sheet of plywood to throw on the hole.

That should take care of it.

This is good advice. Better still is to forget about this shit hole. Ireland is supposed to be really wealthy now so you should just apply for homeless benefits. My friend in Scotland has a free apartment in Glasgow for a few years now cause they were homeless and 'trans'

Have decided frick the house. The signs of party would have been me and friends partying. I say if I even went onto the roof it'd fall thru

If life is bad enough that this was a possibility, sometimes you just need a roof over your head for a while. IDK how big this place is or how big that hole is but if you're clever you can get the tarp up there without going on the roof.

I'd say it's about 20mx40m house bungalow. As other anons have said I don't think it's thr beat idea to be under a already collapsing roof especially while breathing in a bunch of dust and rat shit. Cob house or bunker is the way to go.

Pull down some of the drywall from inside. Lay the sheets over fhe hole. Cover the drywall with plastic tarp so it doesn't get wet. Toss some bricks or 2x4s on the plastic to hold it down.

An A-frame house can be built with less than 1000 € per square meter (that's roughly $100 - $110 per square foot). This accounts for the house fully finished, excluded taxes.

We are of course talking about building with Avrame models. Building entirely on-site or with other kits would be more expensive.

IMPORTANT: the price indicated above should be taken with a grain of salt... keep reading to understand why.
        The cost of a house

The overall price of a build depends on so many factors that it is practically impossible to estimate a price without drafting a detailed budget.

        https://i.imgur.com/b08xejI.jpg

A DIY shack version (of link) made from mostly scrap with a proper roof MIGHT be 2000 Boggart bucks.

For a shack inna woods with a tarp for a roof, it might be only 400-500 YouRowDollas, if you have a whole lot of free lumber. These are wild guesses.

Something this size is probably the best path for you.

Squatters rights don't exist here anon. It's just not a law. There is eminent domain which is kinda complex, in short you've gotta prove you have occupied the property for 13+ years without contact from the original owner. You need bills etc in your name for those 13 years.
Check the land registry the land could be in the ownership of stone who has passed and is disputed or no next of kin, then you just gotta beat the County Council in eminent domain before they sell the land to a seppo corp.
With that in mind anything you build there could be confiscated and you have to pay to get back what's left, if it all doesn't go to the dump.
Get to your local citizens information for what's available in your area. Talk to the Peter McVerry Trust, they're pretty much the only place a single white man without kids can get support finding a home.
    https://pmvtrust.ie/housing/housing-services/
Consider getting the fk out of where you are now and somewhere there a fkn jobs, plenty of warehouses in Limerick or Cork you can start in. If you can keep away from the crack&smack there you'll be on your feet.
    Best of luck anon!

What state? In many states you can legally take ownership of abandoned property through a process called adverse possession. In my state it takes seven years and you have to be paying the property tax on it.

Were I in a situation such as yours I would be attempting to find a place like that to squat on.

Nah thats gonna take too much cement. Replace the busted joists, cut down trees that are the same width around if you have to, cut them to the length you need, nail them to the headers then lay plywood on top.

Were I in a situation such as yours I would be attempting to find a place like that to squat on.

Nah thats gonna take too much cement. Replace the busted joists, cut down trees that are the same width around if you have to, cut them to the length you need, nail them to the headers then lay plywood on top.

    >Rent in my town for a 1 bed is 1500 a month which is not viable so I really can't
    I feel that.
I live in a college town with some vacation hotspot nearby and they've been actively evicting in order to convert apartments to airbnbs, so 98% of what is listed is student housing and the other 2% is barely in the price range of 2 incomes.
They've even been converting the student houseing, so there are more and more cases of homeless college students because we just gotta have hundreds of airbnbs that only ever get rented out in the summer season, sitting empty the rest of the year.

Your best bet is to hide out in the national forests of America. Preferably somewhere heavily forested. Build a below ground structure that is deep enough to evade IR. Shouldn't cost more than 5k to do from start to finish. Go into town but groceries with EBT. Have some nice normie hiking attire, and keep your appearance up. Eventually you'll be accosted by a park ranger, but that's when you flash you $20 lifetime pass card in their face and then disappear back into the woods. Have some fake wallet cards and business cards. Make it seem like you're somebody and not some bum they can push around. You need to keep all their advances in a curve and never confront them. You'll be relegated to a life of isolation, but at least you'll have nature.

Move into an abandoned truck box. These can be found along the back of industrial lots where no one goes regularly.

Buy a good tent, camp gear and/or a cheap car. Fixing up a shit box house you don't own and can never sell is just throwing money away.

Don't waste your time on the house. They will just condemn it and bulldoze it anyway. Pull materials from the house and transport to the most secluded part of the property.
Dig down into the ground making steps down with walls at least 8 feet high. Re-enforce the the walls and build a roof over the digout. Put dirt/grass over the top of the roof. This will provide you with a stealth hiding place you can setup your tent in that will keep it out of the wind and snow. Being down in the earth will help keep you warm.

In your dugout pit you can put a small diy rocket stove and use metal piping you strip from the house or find / buy cheap for a chimney. Layer brick/stone around the ground and walls next to the rocket stove and it will retain the heat to help keep you warm.

stop living in that shithole house. get (borrow?) some cinder blocks and concrete mix and build a small foundation outside in the backyard, and then build up a one or two room cinder block structure.
next time it rains observe where the water pools and don't build there.
for your cinder block shack you may be able to salvage the windows from the house for it, as well as some doorframes.

Thieves deserve death. Literally one of the only things that prehistoric societies got right was to cut your hands off or kill you outright.

Listen this is what you do. Do some work in the yard or w/e and send a bill to the city for it. They wont pay it of course so then you can file a lien against the property and take possession of it. Now it is your home and you can fix it however you want at your own leisure
