If you shoot someone in self defense, and they hit the floor, is it better in the long run to just execute them?

If you shoot someone in self defense, and they hit the floor, is it better in the long run to just execute them?
Obviously you should always shoot to kill, but let's say you fire a few rounds and they hit the floor in pain and can't fight back anymore.
If they survive the shooting then what's to stop them from constantly taking you to court? Or getting a Saul Goodman-esque lawyer to frick you over? It seems likely that if they survive they'll spend the rest of their life ruining yours. Doesn't really even matter if they're poor, ambulance chaser lawyers will still probably take their case.
Realistically, is there any downside whatsoever to finishing them off if you already shot them in self defense?

If you are no longer in threat of your life, it's just straight up murder.

      >If you are no longer in threat of your life, it's just straight up murder
Except in Texas, where they still believe some people need killin'. The Houston Taqueria guy executed the capgun-wielding robber on the floor and the grand jury cheered him for it.

Texas is such a backwards shithole, sometimes they're so backwards they get things right (like allowing us to shoot criminals on the spot). It's also the same state that if you take your daughter's cell phone away for sexting Black folk, it's considered "stealing" and it will throw the father in prison. Also the state that has some of the highest innocent executions and life imprisonments. With how morality is crumbling in society, and psychotic COD kiddies and browns are the next generation of corrupted cops, you're one pigs bad day away from rotting in prison for the rest of your life.

you made a moronic thread on purpose and the only thing you should execute is yourself.

The fact that no lawyer would take their case.

Actual defense attorneys will tell you that you want your attacker to live in that case, murder trials are vastly more expensive. The DA and victim's family will still bring you to court if at all possible. You might find a lawyer that says "one story is better than two" but the majority will tell you a wounded guy is an entirely different proposition from a body.

Your talking to criminal defense attorneys who deal with criminals every day. We're talking about self defense. For example, Bernie Goetz was fricked over because his attorney worked the case like he was defending a criminal. An attorney specializing in self-defense would have likely won that case. Ignore the advice of criminal defense attorneys unless it overlaps exactly with the advice of self-defense attorneys.

No, I'm talking about "armed attorneys" who deal predominantly with self defense cases, most of the comments in this thread harken back to an earlier time when the legal system didn't try to punish people for defending their own lives by default, and "I was in fear for my life" wasn't a rehearsed line that is ignored.

You magdump while they are still standing, but if they hit the floor you should probably stop and call 911.

No cap that’s pretty gay, guy tries to kill you or whatever and you’re supposed to call an ambulance for them?

Well you don't have to be too quick about it.

You don't really have to, but odds are someone will call 911 and it should probably be you, and when you say someone has been shot they will send an ambulance, like it or not.

Just fricking magdump and say you were in fear for your life. Works for cops 90% of the time. If it's within a 3 second interval, empty the clip.
But, they might charge you if you stand over them and give them a couple fo-sho shots.

Its financially safer to kill them but if its super public and you just walk over and blast them in the face obviously that looks bad.

The rule of thumb is go for a kill unless you manage to do something mega sweet like shoot the gun out of their hands, then you just floss at them while they cry

      >Its financially safer to kill them
That's not at all clear, except perhaps if you somehow know the attacker has no living relatives. Otherwise, you can figure his family is just as likely to sue you if he's dead as he would be if he's alive.

I'm sure those family members have names and addresses. Would be a shame if their own greed lead directly to an untimely demise.

Giving someone a coup de grace is ill-advised. I knownof exactly one situation where a guy did that and didn't go to jail. If you need to shoot someone then shoot until they stop moving or you run out of ammo

If the courts ever found out you executed someone who was no longer a threat, you're absolutely fricked, way more so than if the person lives and can testify against you.

You magdump all at once. If you shoot them several times, stop, and then shoot them again while they're lying on the ground unable to hurt you, you cannot reasonably argue that you feared for your life or were acting in self defense. It is excessive force well beyond what was necessary to defend yourself, vigilantism at best, murder at worst, it will look absolutely terrible in court.

I’m pretty sure in almost every state if you as a civilianshoot someone when they are no longer a threat to your life, no matter who they are, it’s murder. I know I SC it’s like that

    >Shoot them
    >Continue shooting them as they fall
    >Continue shooting them on the ground until it's time to reload
    >Reload
    >If they twitch, magdump again
    >Repeat until out of ammo or they stop twitching
Works for cops just fine, just say I WUZ SCARED FOR MUH LYFE since it sounds a lot better than "dead people can't sue me for injuring them during a break-in".

    >fire on intruder in my home
    >he falls to the floor moaning
    >see he’s not dead and stands a chance at survival
    >shoot again at a distance so the angle doesn’t portray an execution
    >tell police you shot him, he fell, then reach for his waistband and you suspected he was reaching for a weapon
If cops can gun people down for reaching then so can you

If they can see scorch marks around the guys ear where you plugged the barrel into then yes you're getting shit hammered. If the guy is on the ground and still a threat then shoot. Explain in court (or tell you lawyer preferably) that the guy was what you believed to still be a threat and so you shot in self defense. Genuinely if a guy makes it to your bed room and breaks the door down and you shoot him down right at the door way are you going to risk going over him when he could be/is armed? And if so do you know it was just one invader and not +1 or more hiding in another room choosing the fight option after hearing gunshots?
