If you had the choice, would you buy a Benelli Supernova or put that $600 into a savings for an M4? I like the 3.5" chamber and pump actions are fun, and I vibe with the aesthetic, but it's a pump. Specifically this model

That exact model in your pic was the first shotgun I ever owned. It was great except that the LOP was way too long for my 5'5" manlet frame. If that doesn't apply though, the only downside is the relative lack of aftermarket compared to a Mossberg or Remington
>aftermarket compared to a Mossberg or Remington
Try finding a quality forend for a Remmington versamax.
5’5”
Jesus man. I’m so sorry
I'd splurge on an a300 Ultima patrol or put it in savings for a 1301. Unless it's just a rule of cool purchase in which case I'd go 590a1 or M4 but that's just my aesthetic preferences.
I'd get the supernova
M4s are cool but they're just so expensive
Unless you're loaded or actually doing cool guy shit for a living (doubtful) it's not worth
Supernova, look for a tactical model with the collapsing stock if you can though most are on the SBS model. A bunch of police model non-SBSes flooded the market recently and that's when I got mine.
M4 is fine but not worth the asking price. I say this as someone who has owned all of the M-series Benellis. Anything you'd need a shotgun to do, the Supernova will do. M4 exists to flex and is kind of a pig compared to the M2/M3 and 1301 Tac.
pretty much this.
I have an M4 and an M2 currently. I've owned a Cordoba and an M3 in the past. The M4 is a great shotgun but it's honestly a) overpriced and b) a one-trick pony. If you really want the best combat shotgun because you really need it or because you've got disposeable income and you're splurging on something cool then go for it. But as far as practical use goes in my opinion the M2 is the best. Straight from the factory you can configure the M2 for anything. You can get SBS barrels, your standard 18" tacticals, longer barrels for hunting or skeet, and rifled barrels for slugs. You can also get the "Comfortech" stock for the M2 which sounds like a gimmick when you first read about it but it honestly does an awesome job reducing felt recoil. M2 also has a huge aftermarket in every possible field: tactical, 3-gun competition, hunting, clays, you name it.
if it was the supernova vs a 500/870 then i wouldnt mind paying extra for the supernova.
however if i really wanted a m4 and was sure i wanted that m4. then fuck the supernova. imma buy that m4. settling for a supernova will only delay me from getting what i really want and land me with something i have to resell or leave laying around unused later.
now if you dont that much of a shit about the m4 supernovas fine but never settle.
you can get a beretta a300 for 900 bucks.
This. Watching the prices drop for the ultima patrol over the past month. Went from $1099 to $940 on gunbroker. You get a well made semi auto and save all that money for rounds and range/clay time actually shooting it.
What the hell are you going to need the 3 1/2" chamber for? That's almost exclusively reserved for duck and turkey hunting, although you can find buckshot loads available.
>duck and turkey hunting
Yes.
>That's almost exclusively reserved for duck and turkey hunting
And even then it's a meme
>never been geese hunting with steel shot
I can tell.
moron where do you see
>geese
in
>duck and turkey
>he's hunting geese with steel shot but not using a 10ga
why should we be listening to you again?
10gauge is obsolete with 3.5” 12 gauge. Simple as. You’d’ve known that if you ever did anything.
Supernovas a great. One of my favorite features is the loading gate stays out of the way until you pump it after you load your first shell. No pinched thumbs or caught gloves. You can also get a really comfy 4 position adjustable stock.
Get an auto 5 loser.
I've heard these are excessively autistic in design and have a lot of problems you need to work out before it's a reliable weapon.
They're reliable as fuck. You heard wrong, nerd.
Post yours
Lemme see your shotgun now.
>Posts supreme gentleman shotgun
nice
>I've heard these are excessively autistic in design and have a lot of problems you need to work out before it's a reliable weapon.
They're were designed by Browning personally and were in production nearly a hundred years. YOU don't need to work out anything on it.
The only thing you work on are the friction rings according to the loads you shoot; for that you take a look into the manual.
>only thing you work on are the friction rings according to the loads you shoot
Or you could just buy an M4, 1301 or 940 and no worry for that shotgun's lifetime.
Even newer auto shotguns struggle to cycle lighter loads, like skeet or trap shells.
>like skeet or trap shells.
No, they don't. I already provided enough evidence, blow me. Stop buying shitty shotguns sub $800
Mixed opinions in this thread. I really like the M2, 1301, and A300. They're considerations now
Not what I'm looking for
It's cool
Neither, get a m3 instead. It's just like the m4 except it can switch between semi and pump.
Retard here, why buy a Benelli pump, when you can buy a host of others for less money? M3s and M2s are a thing, too.
The Benellis are just a bit more gucci. Nicer fit and finish, and smoother action with no slop or rattle. You're sacrificing aftermarket for that, but not everybody cares
Okay, sure, I totally get that, but when there's a budget constraint like for OP, I don't get the appeal of gucci.
Oh yeah, I'm retarded. I thought you were asking why you would buy a Benelli in general
Granted I'm not sure about US prices but basically the way I see it, under budget constraints, if you want an auto you get an m2 or m3, or something non benelli for a pump.
NTA, but I honestly agree. There's a reason to spend extra on a Benelli semi over most other semis: they are super reliable and the inertia system is incredibly simple, which means that both ease of maintenance and reliability are improved. Now for a pump shotty? There's nothing wrong with Benellis but an 870 or a Mossberg are already proven rock-solid reliable and have much bigger aftermarkets.
If you want a gucci pump gun? Get a vintage model. You want a cool pump for maximum memes? Get a SPAS-12.
I would go with a Turkish M4, they're pretty much the same thing as a Benelli. Here's my Panzer Arms and it's a dream to shoot. Only 450 USD from my buddy, best purchase I've ever made if you love 12ga shotguns you will love the Panzer M4. I don't really know why you would pay 3x the price for a roll mark...
It's not nearly the same as AR lowers and you know it. Someone get the RAID.
>*Breaks*
Weak, weak bait.
How about 940 pro tactical? Is it any good?
>How about 940 pro tactical? Is it any good?
Beneli M4, Beretta 1301 and Mossberg 940 are the top three semi auto shotguns that exist. All 3 will shoot every load you can buy, all 3 are proven, all 3 have similar features.
Anyone have experience or opinions on the Winchester SXP?
The SXP is just a roach version of the 120/1200/1300. Literally buy a used 120/1200/1300 for $150-250 and come out ahead with a better gun. Which is saying something, considering they're already budget guns. The entire line was meant to reduce costs to the point of absolute bare minimum without it being a pipe bomb. Do you really want the final cost cutting measure they could take?
I've been swayed a lot toward the M2. With all the money I'd save for a stock M4 I could add a light, optic, and magazine extension to an M2
Buy once, cry one. Just save up and get the one you actually want and be done with it instead of feeling like you have to buy guns you don't really want and suffer for a few years before getting the one you really want.
I don't have experience with the Supernova but I've heard that it's a very good gun and given my experience with Benelli I can easily believe that. However if you want an M4 then go with that, it's cool as hell and in a lot of vidya and movies and is also reputable as a good gun.
>Look up current price
>Damn near 2 grand
Boy howdy I remember when that sucker was like 1k but still, buy once cry once. You can always get a Supernova later, they're not particularly expensive and it's not like they're going anywhere.
go with the Supernova, I bought one years ago and only have good things to say about it
do not pay $600 for a super nova
You're an idiot if you spend 600 dollars on a supernova. Get a beretta a300 Ultima patrol or save the cash for a benelli m4. Don't blow your tiny wad fool.
Save up for THE Benelli, or get the Beretta A300 and have something “just as good.”
problem with these ultra expensive shotguns is they use the same shells as some Dickenson owner would use!
M4 isn't even close to being classified as ultra expensive. If anything, in a different country (UK for example) it would be classified as bottom tier budget price. And they do use expensive shells there if you are really inclined towards going full gucci.
>tactical shotgun
Just get a Nova
My ideal home defense shotgun is 20 ga chambered for 3" mag. I prefer that in semi-auto because I can fire it one-handed, with solid follow-up shots, at anything resembling home defense distances (under ~30 yards, but usually 8 to 15). It's not the first gun I would pick up, but you can do a helluv'a lot worse. Use steel BBs with enough charge to exceed 1400 fps; if you can push ~1600 fps, all the better. I'm cool with a 20" barrel, but want it in mod choke. If there is no or insignificant performance drop with 18", all the better.
Why? That's more than enough gun for home defense against humans. Reloading is way cheap, and you can tweak your charge to optimize performance. You can carry nearly double the number of 20 ga in a sack or whatever for the same weight as 12 ga. Or half the weight for the same number of shells. It works for me because I've shot trap & skeet for decades and I point & shoot instinctively. If you've ever shot skeet, I have smashed doubles on station 4 a few times ... from the hip. Late night visitors on the homestead will get extremely little time to comply and make their case before I call corpse clean-up squad and sue their families for the mess.
Benelli M4 sells for more than 3k€ in Europe and muricans are complaining for less than $2k.
It's around 2k€ here
Anyone have experience with the Stoeger M3000?
Buy a 1301. Inherently superior.
Nice digits. Must be true.
>Inherently superior
They don't think it be like it is, but it do.
Sexy
That forend is hot. Never liked the Magpul stocks though. I like the standard pistol grip stocks they come with
Holy fucking pents. Still like the M2 though
Digits don’t lie boys

I'm just going to leave this here. Do with it what you will.
i did the third option and bought an M3, so now i basically have an m2/nova but without an M4 gas system
What are the advantages of a shotgun over an AR or PCC for home defense? I know defensive loads for 5.56 or common handgun calibers take care of overpenetration pretty well and they have a lot more capacity, so where does the shotgun win?
You typically only have time for a few shots before they flee or return fire. A few shots on target with #4 or larger buckshot at in-home distences are basically 100% lethal, while from a 5.56 or 9mm, may or may not be.
Makes sense. I looked up some videos about it and one of the main points against shotguns was their size and recoil, which I guess may not be an issue depending on your size and skill
Does anyone own the tactical 14 inch?
I'm thinking of buying one. I kind of with the 14" had the mag tube all the way flush with the barrel.
is that italien? can you go pump, or auto?
