With a gun. Even on easy mode master chief gets dropped easy with his shields down by attacked friendlies shooting 7.62. Its not even many shots, if you kill too many marines in CE and they go hostile, they can kill you in like a short burst.

Realistically speaking you don't, AP weapons possibly and arty. You may have luck disabling it by damaging the power plant on the backpack but even still that would just slow him down.

That's game play balance, lore wise that shielded armor can eat .50 cal and not even dent. Its is insanely strong and robust. The same thing with Elites armor too.

A great deal of that is just gameplay. Hell, I'd say the recoil and spread of Halo guns is gameplay too. If any weapon is difficult to control for a super soldier in strength-enhancing power armor them there's no way a standard marine can reasonably use it.

That's just how armour works, it's really not that good against much of anything when it comes to modern firearms
MJOLNIR armour is still remarkably tough even without its shield, the Chief can soak like half a mag of 7.62x51 without going down provided none of them get him in the face

The problem with Halo is the same problem with a lot of anime, that is power level scaling is all over the fricking place. Lore wise a single Spartan II can take down an entire army not just from how big and strong they are with the armor but especially from how fast they can move and how good their reflexes are. They could punch a vehicle speeding towards them from out of nowhere without even knowing they did it while gunning everyone around down. But obviously something like that would roflstomp virtually everything they come into contact with so they gotta either be scaled down somehow or have another enemy thats just ludicrous, since the Spartans are basically biological terminators with all sorts of augments and surgeries done since childhood. IRL they’d have actual aimbots and wallhacks with their AI assistant on top of everything else while skittering around like a rabid chihuahua on every opioid at once, which may sound great on paper but could make a boring game since there’s basically no challenge at all unless you puposely handicap yourself. He’s kind of like Doomguy where he singlehandedly terrorized and genocided hell for eons with his bare hands while becoming an immortal god but can die to lava in game.

        > their AI assistant
Technically speaking, your average Spartan isn’t going to have an AI. They have the capability to run one on their armor, but typically even a dumb AI would be a massive waste to tie to a single soldier. Cortana/Master Chief is a unique situation since Cortana was basically designed to be deployed via Spartan since her reason for existence is to support the mission of capturing a Prophet. Throw in the fact that Cortana specifically chose Master Chief, that they work extremely well together, and that I suspect she would go full yandere if some beam counter tried to reassign her to do something else.

Likely gameplay. Sure, something high caliber enough to go through a visor but the armor itself is heavy titanium stuff. At minimum, it's more durable than body armor today. Of course, players would be pissed having to empty an entire magazine even AFTER shields are gone in PvP.

You need to stop him moving, the armor isn't that tough but a SPARTAN II is sanic fast in combat, difficult to pin (because armor) and good at using cover/concealment which makes them very difficult to hit
large amounts of high explosives can make up for that if applied judiciously to the area

      >The armor isn't that tough

      Shootem in the joints.

      What we know:
      >Armor is a titanium-ceramic alloy
      >Chief is not invincible and, according to the books, has been injured via return fire on several occasions
      Mechanism:
The real question here is how you could get a clear shot at Chief. He's a master of small unit tactics, has the firepower and the mass to make some small assaults fail, and has superior reflexes and agility even in his MJOLNIR. Another anon suggest a trap, and I concur. You just have to be ready for him and him not ready for you. At the end of a day, he's walking tank but still a man.
      The armor:
For additional reference, Titanium-ceramic was made to counter the increased firepower being found in the Outer Colonies in the form of our beloved 7.62 REAL FRICKING NATO. However, if we use the knowledge of how our modern ceramic and steel plates work, we actually see that, yes, while it would be more durable and absorbant of incoming fire, it's not invulnerable, and will fail after sufficient fire. We also have to take into acount that the armor only covers a percentage of Chief's body. We is still prone to frag and shrapnel. Bouncing betties, claymores, mortars and heavier presighted artillery. Even if the armor could withstand that, his bodyglove is as tough, it's meant for environmental regulation, blunt force, and small calibers (acting like a kevlar vest would).

In short, take your pick how you get him. Just make sure you get him and are prepared to lose a few people.

That theoretically should be the case in story. The writers in Halo Wars said
        >We needed to realize where the canon was flexible in order to squeeze in the things we needed. And, in a few cases, we decided to go against canon to make a better game/experience (e.g. the Spartan’s shield and sound). I don’t know how we would have made those calls without tons of research, chats with Bungie, etc.
So originally Halo Wars Spartans only had energy shields in gameplay. They changed it after with the 2011 Visual Guide saying
        >Energy shielding was a key feature of Mark V, although Spartan squads had field-tested prototypes of this technology as early as 2531.
Implying the Halo Wars guys had prototypes but the point still stands. Early Spartans fought and kicked ass without energy shields. Their power armor, even without shields, are state-of-the-art armor and the best shit the UNSC can give to their supersoldiers at the time. If modern day 7.62x51mm can be stopped by any armor today, then MJOLNIR armor can absolutely and easily.

Assuming the armor is functional and better than anything we can make today, you can still just fricking shoot him with a high caliber weapon. The armor isn't going to stop the force of the projectile hitting him, and if it doesn't penetrate or kill him directly, he'll still be neutralized.
Even a modern soldier in body armor is going to feel it if you shoot him with a 7.62. Now up that to 12.7mm or 20mm.

Spartans are so weak. They need power armor when ODSTs can survive getting shot then waiting in cover a few seconds and the wounds disappear so long as it doesn't dip below the next threshold. They can punch Wraiths and Scorpions until they explode? Big deal. Ever member of Buck's team can jump on a tank and do the same. They're slow too. Give a Spartan a turret and an ODST a turret, the ODST will run faster.

      >entire branch gets slipspace accident'd by the writers from H4 onwards

      The Spartan-IVs fear the ODST.

ambush with a team of snipers equiped with either pic related which is the Model 99 Special Application Scoped Rifle, a gauss anti-material rifle.
    >The M99 is also used with a portable computer to provide the ballistic calculations necessary to engage long range targets. The rifle can also be integrated with other systems, such as ARGUS Drones for trajectory and ballistic data. The M99 also uses the ATLAS+ system developed by Ohana.[2]
    >Muzzle Velocity: 15,000 meters/second (9.3 miles/second)
    >Range 4.5km
A team of snipers set up around the edges of a valley with drone targeting support could tear through anything and prevent any return fire with its extreme range and ability to punch through any cover.

Overwhelming numbers plus anything chambered in .50 AP or higher.
He'd probably hole up in a forest or something you can't get vehicles through, plus he's a superhuman with over 30 years of combat experience so you'd probably lose hundreds of men in the fighting but so long as his escape is cut off he's done for eventually.

Shoot an antitank missile at him.
MC only survived the same happening to him during initial trials because Cortana accelerated his reflexes and worked with him to allow him to b***hslap it away, barely avoiding heavy injury.

Alternatively, just use something that can penetrate it. Its big thing is the speed and strength boost it gives. The actual armor is not THAT amazing compared to the weapons in play.
Get a big gun or some captured covie shit.
