What do you think when people return power tools that have obviously just been used once and the people don't need them anymore so they get their money back? I have done this several times with pressure washers, engine hoists, etc
How much returned/defective merchandise gets tossed in the dumpster? And do you think the managers would mind if you swiped it? A Harbor Freight is opening like 20 minutes from me and the plant I work at is pretty close to shutting the doors. Was thinking about working there if I could get the perk of free shit, even if I have to work on it
id doesnt get tossed it gets packed up and documented and sent somewhere, the employee discount is nice though.

Do you ever get used to the terrible smell of chinese plastic and rubber?
no every box is a mystery of odour. The worst are the castor wheels because they are coated in an oil slick and the rubber and polyurethane also reeks
Funny, I noticed that too. Years ago rubber casters used to have a faint rubber smell and then suddenly overnight they all seemed to turn rank
Of all their products, which one do you think is legitimately the most dangerous
Do the knives and machetes get stolen often?
no people ususally try and steal electrical equipment and the more expensive power tools and sockets.
idk probably any power/air tools and things that could fail under weight like winches or hydraulic lifts.

They have a section in the store where they sell returned stuff, I doubt theyll just put it in the dumpster
I've seen dumpster diving videos behind HF where they pull out broken jack stands and torque wrenches and shit
idk maybe different stores do different shit. but ive never seen defected items just get thrown out
