It was pretty funny how salty he got in the comments when people pointed out he was completely wrong about compression in a piston engine.

        >mentally cataloging something
this happens to normal people effortlessly. I bet the concept of an internal monologue mystifies you as well.

I bet the concept of autonomic breathing mystifies you. Probably all the inbreeding in your family.

It's horribly expensive to overhaul one and without the parent aircraft they're useless. I quite enjoyed my career working Pratts and GE in F-16s but unless you're rich and skilled and extremely bored the money would better be used improving your shop or building one.

You could train to become a jet mech and see if that's your thing (for much less money) while not just buying something you don't know how or have the specialty tools to work on.

You can't afford the tools and equipment. Trust me.

First of all its not a ""jet engine"" Its a gas turbine engine. Sounds silly but most of the people you will be talking to for parts will hang up on you if you tell them you need parts for a ""Jet engine"" Probably the easiest and cheapest gas turbine engine to work on is the Allison 250 and even then you will be in over your head, Trust me.

If you **really** want to throw some money at a fancy noise maker that blows hot air and smells like kerosene then just buy a model gas turbine engine for a RC Jet for $3k and enjoy running it on a test stand.
