It would only make sense if it's something like that project where they use a C-130 to launch JASSM's from pallets.

For the time when US becomes more isolationist effectively collapsing the already dying liberal order and military dictatorships come back to SA, at the current rate of "liberal progress" within the region this is going to happen in probably less than a decade and militaries will need to be well equipped, attempts at democracy have only proven to be vectors for extreme and alternate left wing parties to keep creating regional disasters such as Venezuela migration waves, Argentinian bankruptcy and Brazil's own social mismanagement, with the most extreme examples being Putin and Hamas take over, with luck the new South American military dictatorships may evolve into enlightened despotisms which would ensure progress for the region different from the current trends which are ailing the West.

Do you understand Europe (including Puccia) has spent decades white-guilt funding LATAM leftoid NGOs and even terroeist groups? At least back when gunboat diplomacy was a thing you didn't pretend any moral highground, now off you go to suck more MENA and subsaharan dick.

That's what I tell my wife, plus the international governing body for aviation, I forget the name, considers the Wright brothers to be the inventors. She still insists only Santos-Dumont's aircraft counts because it didn't need a catapult to get into the air. I dunno. That sounds dumb to me. It's just funny to me..and sad

Pretty sure Gripens are the low budget of the big boy fighter jets.

the OG Gripen are budget ballers. The new Gripen NG's which Brazil has, not so much.

          Anonymous

That's mainly because Brazil paid for far more than just the aircraft, i'm jure the Gripen E alone are still pretty attainable for most poorgays.

        Anonymous

Only the A-D version, the NG is as expensive as a Block 70/72 F-16 Viper

Sweden stopped building the A-D version for years now and the remaining airframes are now going to be donated to Ukraine and sold to Hungary

The only budget fighter is the FA-50, the other LIFTs on the same class are inferior

Even the T-7 will be built as a mass export light fighter

How many airframes they have left anyway?

Brazil is actually becoming increasingly competent and modern when it comes to MIC. This is all what's in the long term future. Though the tank thing is a pipe dream. At best the Swedes, Italians or Japanese will help Brazil manufacture a local Osorio successor.

It would be good if you could create a separate thread to discuss about brazilian MIC, it's obvious the current OP is just troll bait.

Real talk, how did the Brazilian aviation sector take off and become so dominant? Every airliner company servicing budget routes uses Embraer and having used one this week on a trip I was thoroughly impressed with the cabin comfort compared to a 737 running the same route.

I think you already answered your own questions, from all the thirdies LATAM have always been the smartest, not too bright, but bright enough to play to their strengths and find a niche for themselves.

Brazil is a developing country that is NATO-aligned, making it part of the first world. In order to be third-world, it has to be aligned with the eastern bloc guys like Russia or China.

No, you got third-world wrong. Third world means not aligned with NATO or commie countries. Second world means the people siding with the commies.

And they're "autistically" meticulous to test each component of the design. Their self-made engine wasn't even that poweful, they didn't 'brute force' as much as others.
