I have tons of their PFG shorts and shirts, it's pretty much all I wear this time of year.
They look nice and aren't that expensive, but my wife still yells at me anyways for getting fish guts on them 🙁

Coastal South Texas here and Columbia PFG (and the dozens of knockoff brands) is essentially all that anyone wears. Super comfy though, outsiders just don't get it

Columbia footwear is shit. Its basically all shit other than the jackets and maybe backpacks.
Get a real hiking boot or dont bother. My Danners cost $140 and fit my foot like a sock, those boots literally feel like an extension of my body

I was mocking his shitty 'boots' lmao. $140 does not buy you real boots. Walk into any boot barn and compare that to a pair of cowboy boots that all run $400-$700 for good ones. My foot arches are too high to fit in cowboy boots well but I do have a pair of 875s, beckmans, and a pair of steel toes I wear to work that were $180. Woth it for comfortable steel toes. I don't go home with foot pain anymore.

Ok here. I dunno I really like those. I wish they came in all tan or black but I have had 2 pairs of Columbia boots before and they were pretty good. Sure those are flashy but I dunno it was just an idea to get them.....now you guys are really going to hate me....but for $110 I found a pair of vans hiking boots online. Yes VANS. Think those are just for style or would actually be decent hiking shoes? I'm sure the hate will roll in...

you have extremely low standards for what constitutes good, these Chinese sweatshop shoes will fail at the first sign of abuse, the only "hiking" you can trust these to do is manicured trails, step in mud once and you will never get it out of the polyester padding and out from under the insole and they will then rot.
shoes like these are not designed with anything but appearance and minimal cost to produce in mind

I 100% appriciate your honesty. Youre also right. I just cant afford super expensive boots. I found these and kinda like them. The ratings and reviews are pretty high and theyre in my price range.

No way man. Had them before and they didnt last long at all. Plus theyre uncomfortable. Price range is upwards of 160? Thats about all id be willing to spend and that's really pushing it.

prices are in nzd cause thats where im browsing from so 1/2 for you, they aren't obviously all of the same quality there's signs that can tell you which ones are good, here's a pair that has vibram soles a stitched welt, double row stitching. and the comfort just takes a break in and don't wear thin socks

i have this exact same pair of boots and i fricking love them. they are comfy, relatively cheap, worth, waterproof, but it gets a bit too hot so you want to take them off now and then and air it and your feet out, feels good man to walk around barefoot so i really don't mind doing this at all, i'm looking forward to it every time.

i also picked up british military surplus boots for fairly cheap, all leather, very uncomfy and takes ages to break in. i think there's a way to soften leather up but i haven't asked around yet

I switched from leather boots to Keen Targhee boots and shoes. Pretty great.
Soles are a bit soft on hard rocks, so got a pair of Hunter's Element leather boots. (NZ brand, not sure if available outside Australasia.) They’re really good so far but haven’t seen any serious use.

This thread is so fricking moronic.

The Chaco Teton was amazing but they don't make those anymore and now all Chaco boots look like they're for gay Italian men. Just buy some Merrells or Keens or just totally ignore all advice and buy $30 sneakers and get blisters asap like you're already doing.

boys how the frick do I find boots that are high quality

I run into this problem with pretty much everything I buy
How the frick do I tell what is a garbage shirt that is marketed as a high quality shirt and what is actually a nice shirt?
