I need your advice
Im assembling a shoebox full of the most useful items possible. But heres the deal, Im not talking about useful as in Survival kits or Emergency situations, I mean generally broadly useful in as many situations as possible. A swiss army knife is a given, and a lighter for example. Bandaids, a small sewing kit, you name it.
What else can I fill this shoebox with?

stuff I use all the time for multiple purposes, in quantities to make up a small all purpose box-

    - bunch of tie wraps
    - roll of double-sided foam tape
    - handful of bamboo skewers/chopsticks
    - a few synthetic wine corks
    - credit card size/thickness plastic sheet (fake junk mail credit cards are perfect)
    - a dozen or so single edge razor blades for cutting/splitting last three into handy shapes/parts/tools
    - handful of various sizes of picrel
    - small gauge stranded wire jumpers w/alligator clips
    - a few small but strong magnets
    - small supply of of 90 lb.-ish braided fishing line
    - a foot or so of 1/4"-ish silicone surgical tubing
    - couple of key chain style split rings
    - magnifying glass
    - hemostats
    - long tweezers
    - cheap drawing compass
    - diamond nail file

    >Im assembling a shoebox full of the most useful items possible. But heres the deal, Im not talking about useful as in Survival kits or Emergency situations, I mean generally broadly useful in as many situations as possible
This is a bullshit question and you need to list the situations you are likely to be in first. What's useful when your car breaks down isn't useful when you need to stop bleeding from a major artery. What's useful when you need to fix someone's PC isn't useful when you need to build a house. Etc.

      >What's useful when your car breaks down isn't useful when you need to stop bleeding from a major artery.
Duct tape, bungee cords, surgical tubing and rope can all be used to slow arterial bleeding and can also be used to effect emergency car repairs
      >What's useful when you need to fix someone's PC isn't useful when you need to build a house
Fixing a PC isn't a broad use scenario, even within the field of electronics its a highly specialized niche where ICs and compatibility issues limit the ability to substitute parts and specialized tools.
Building a house encompasses all kinds of tools and materials that can be subbed with something else in a pinch.
Even at that, there's all kinds of tools one might use in working on a PC that would be useful when building a house and are virtually identical to the ones used in building trades... so yours is a bullshit answer on both counts that is nothing more than knee jerk holier-than-thou contrarianism from a bitter wannabe forum parent.

      6. For First Aid

There are several options here: ***use them as a tourniquet***, as a way to hold bandages in place, to tie a splint in place, or to make a sling.

      20. Fix Your Vehicle

Pantyhose can also be used as a temporary fan belt. It won’t last long, but it could get your vehicle home or to the nearest garage.

Frick off moron, I asked what items are Most generally useful. Like the other guy mentioned, duct tape and zip ties are on that list. Scissors, a set of cutlery, a magnifying glass, safety pins, a power bank, you know, USEFUL things

Duct tape, electrical tape, superglue, and WD40 are all my go-to staples for quick fixing shit around the house. Keeping spare AA & AAA batteries is probably a good idea too.

As far as tools go a pack of disposable razors can be quite useful to have around.

blue painters tape, duct tape, and the classic black electric tape is useful in lots of situations. a notepad and a pencil and a pen. a rule is also good, tweezers(?) or some kind of clamps to remove splinters.

you are making a Junk Drawer.
slot and phillips screwdrivers, needle nose pliers, lighters, corkscrew, twine, scissors(good scissors. If they are hard to cut with, throw them away).

Then add shit as you need it, and in a year or two, you'll have so much shit in there, you'll have to sit down and cull the bullshit out.

Almost, except you dont bring a junk drawer with you and a junk drawer isnt versatile enough. You dont have money or bandaids or cutlery in them, and a junk drawer is also just shit youve thrown in there. What Im after is the ultimate super mega optimal sublime selection of tools and utilities
