I may be in need of a new .30-06 rifle.

Any recommendations? I have a Nikon 3-9x scope I would like to put on it. It must be a rifle chambered in .30-06 because I have a lot of that ammo lying around, and it must be able to take a scope. I’ll accept all prices, I’m willing to pay a lot for quality, but I’ll also settle for super inexpensive if it’s still quality.

Are any particularly more reliable than others? I’d like one that isn’t a piece of shit. But then again, if they’re all reliable please say so.

Best bang for your buck will be a savage with their adjustable accu-trigger. Should be had for less than $500, and possible even close to $400 if on sale somewhere

i mean something with controlled round feed would likely be most reliable

Savage axis. Ditch the Nikon and put a Bushnell banner on it and you'll be all set.

Just bought a Ruger American Predator in 308 for my first bolt action to get into precision shooting. I talked myself out of the B14 HMR in 300 win mag because I'm not that rich and I have a lot of improvement to do before a better rifle would mean a lot. Am I moron?

      >Am I moron?
No, just get a chassis, fiberglass stock, or a Boyds laminate wood stock, and then pillar and glass bed the action and stock (not needed for chassis). Buy quality scope rings and as nice a scope as you can afford.

Not only did I get lefty rifle cuz I want fun bolt cycling but the predator is free floated already. Are they compatible with remote 700 stocks or what?

          >Are they compatible with remote 700 stocks or what?
Not sure, but I'd assume no. Finding a stock specific to the ruger shouldn't be a problem considering how popular of a rifle they are, getting a left-handed stock will be harder though. Boyds stocks are made to order, so you can definitely get a left-handed one. You'll get "good enough" performance out of the synthetic stock, but getting any of the three I mentioned will be better since glass and pillar bedding synthetic stocks doesn't work as well/is more of a pain in the ass.

Then that probably just means I'll be selling it some time down the line when I feel I've outgrown it and getting a better stock rifle unless I get attached to it.

    Don't listen to these homosexuals.

Sounds like you're coming from a traditional hunting style 30-06.

Recommend a Tikka T3x Roughtech. It's Tikka's latest model of traditional centerfires. If you like wood stocks they have classic versions as well.

Tikka is well known for their smooth action and dependable accuracy out of the box. I should know, I own two of their rifles (T3x CTR .308 and T1x 22LR).
