I just want to work for the park systems and paint but I can't legally own a gun because I spent a 10 day stint in the good boy quiet time box when I was 17 despite showing zero recidivism in the 15 years since then
Is there any way around this?

>good boy quiet time box
Is this zoomer speak for the looney bin?
I'm not American, so I don't know much about the specifics, but I am aware that there is a process you can go through to apply to have your rights restored.
I heard of someone having their rights restored after serving time for murder. It sounds like you would have a pretty good shot at getting your rights back.
We got rid of that because it might benefit morons.
Would you want a convicted felon as your neighbor? Not me, I'd rather not
You probably can get your rights restored, buy there's a good chance you'll need a lawyer
>15 years since warding
>can't get a gun back
Wow thats fucking gay. Really glad I dodged the ward in my stints of childhood retardation.
I think after 10 years you can get a pardon to have your rights restored, at least in some countries
>countries
Permanent removal of rights is a purely american thing. In the rest if the world the court decides how long they will be suspended for at the time of sentencing.
>Permanent removal of rights is a purely american thing
because no other countries have rights lmao
the shit mcdonalds does to your brain
>No right to free speech
>No right to own guns
Keep coping.
keep eating
post guns
In a eight states 1:5 Black men have been stripped of their right to vote or own guns. It's 1:4 for Tennessee.
Land of the free!
problem?
Just check no on your form?
Have you tried buying a gun?
>t. Been in the loony bin three times and has 5 guns
If you were a minor at the time there’s a good chance you can petition a judge for restoration - explain your desire, explain why you’re not a risk, and stress your very long stint of not being crazy. You can and should also just see if there’s a lawyer with office hours who might know what you’re asking about. Good lawyers won’t charge much for consultation, and will be happy to help you find someone who can help if they can’t.
i keep hearing each mass shooting that the gunman legally bought his weapons despite having some felony or conviction or juvenile or whatever, usually having parents sign off on it or something. im gonna say that your problem is that youre black and the system doesnt want you to own. rise up
Was it voluntary or involuntary? Big difference there.
>Is there any way around this?
Yes, it's called talk to a fucking lawyer you idiot. Almost every state provides a mechanism for having your rights restored if you have a mental health prohibitor. If you're a felon, some states provide a process. Whether the FBI considerd that process sufficient for federal purposes is a different question. But don't fucking listen to any of the idiots on this site who don't know what state you're in and aren't lawyers but still think they can give you any advice other than "talk to a lawyer in your state."
>t. Lawyer but probably not in your state.
This is also important.
In your state maybe. That's unusually harsh in my experience.
>In your state maybe. That's unusually harsh in my experience.
What part? The cost or having to wait 7 years? That's pretty average for misdemeanor offenses, felonies are 10. I think there's at least one state that's 5 but that may be a limited list, although involuntary commitment might be on such a list.
Then there's still the question of whether 17 counts as juvi or adult, juvi may be automatically expunged, but the age varies by state. It's a mess. OP needs to ask Google instead of PrepHole.
In the US it's 7 years before you can petition for expungement and attorney fees are currently 12 grand (varies but not by much if you don't want to waste your money).
AFAIK, you do not have to answer "yes" on the 4473 after expungement, so it won't delay the approval three days every time you try to do a transfer. I could be wrong though, but you'd still have your rights back.
Do the crime pay the fine Get fucked for life, OP. Maybe in the next life you get reborn as a non-convicted felon. If a convicted felon says good morning, do not reply, if a convicted felon is serving you groceries, ask for another employee, do not engage with those, they should not even be employed
I avoid engaging felons on my day to day life. I already have enough responsibilities, I don't need former felons near me
Anyone could be a felon and you wouldn't know
If I knew it, I would avoid him like a leper. Most normal people would
you can legally own a rifle or shotgun in Alaska, if purchased private party
When you fill out the purchase form for the ATF it only counts if you were court ordered.
Were you court ordered or compelled by the police or was it technically voluntary? If it was voluntary then you can check no if it was involuntary you need to see if you can gain your rights back legally.
>gain your rights
a felon
lmfao
>have you ever been adjudicated as a mental defect OR have you ever been committed to a mental institution
If you're talking about being involuntarily placed that doesn't mean jack shit even more so if you were a juvenile. The question on the 4473 is purely an honor system question. They legally can not go into your medical records like that in that specific situation. You could have left a physc ward that very morning and as long as you put NO there is no legal way for them to know whether or not that is true. Now I aint saying to lie I'm simply giving you information. The background check system they use does not include a peak into any of that.
LOL I hope he follows your advice and goes to prison.
I wasn't giving him any advice just information so he can get the full picture. I know people who've worked in group homes and residential treatment centers and have found guns during room searches. These retards are able to pass the background check system despite getting disability and living in government housing for retards. You're a complete fucking moron if you lie on a federal form and you deserve the exact consequences you will get if they find out.
OP, you live in one of the most authoritarian countries on Earth. It is North Korea tier, you are pretty much tagged for life. Look around other options, you live in a big planet, God bless
