    I prefer Marlin 60 or 795.
The ergos are better for me.
I put Tech-sights on both of mine -- work great.

Tech sights are great. I don't have a Marlin, but I do love the 10/22.

I'd rather not have a rifle that requires my fingers be anywhere near the muzzle on a regular basis.

What moronation is this? Clear the weapon and safe it first. It’s really not that complicated.

Or I could just buy a nicer magazine fed rifle

Are you really going to empty the gun when you just want to top off a few rounds?

            Anonymous

With 22 just do a mag dump instead of topping off. 22 is cheap.

The marlin really isn’t that safe. I’m not going to articulate this right but you can unload the tube and clear the gun but there can be a round on the follower? Or something. It kinda ghost loads like a benelli? I think Henry’s don’t have this problem with their tube fed guns. Marlins are accurate was the first rifle I ever fired, but also the only gun to ever have a squib while I was shooting (or ever witnessed).

          Right now I am between a cz457 scout and a 10/22

I’ll try to be more clear. When you dump the rounds out of the tube to unload the gun and clear the chamber, one round stays in loading position. This can be unsafe if unaware or if you get careless. This obviously doesn’t happen with a mag fed weapon.

            >ever have a squib
guns don't cause squibs, the ammunition is at fault.

          >Clear the weapon
Before opening the mag? By racking it 14 fricking times? That would bring a whole new level to how much of a pain in the ass the tube mag is.

Why the hell would you ever top off a .22? If your reloading it’s because it’s empty

I love my marlin 60, but the tube isn't a good design choice anymore. It was fun when I was younger but now I just stick with mags. Don't know much about the 795 and I got my hands on a 10/22 for $180 before I started looking for one and never looked back.

What's the cheat code to getting the recoil guide rod to stay in place when you're reassembling the rifle?

Is it slipping off the little shelf towards the back of the reciever?

I always drop in the guide rod and pull the charging handle back near the guide rod with a screwdriver. Once it's back there you can hold it in place with one hand while you drop the bolt in with the other.

Not nearly as bad as other Ruger .22s.

How tight are you squeezing your o-ring?? My 10/22 is 33 years old and I want to maybe get a suppressed barrel.

Suppressed barrel or threaded barrel with a suppressor?

Was my first gun, got it when I was 15. I eventually put a wood stock on mine, and a 4x truglo scope. Nothing fancy by any means, but it's still a fun plinker.

It's definitely a fun 22. rifle, too bad mine was a lemon and could barely shoot without jamming every mag

No need to get butthurt. Only used stock mags, cleaned it constantly, used different ammunition. It didn't work since I first bought it. I liked it when it functioned but seeing how rarely that was there's no point in keeping a jam-a-matic

I got mine back in the 1980's. Early on the extractor broke but was replaced under warranty. Since then it has devoured countless bricks of ammo. I will say that not all mags are created equal and it occasionally chokes on a random box of hollow points.
