Inaccurate ammo designed to be a compromise between accuracy and structural integrity to assist in barrier blindness?
M193 from an 18-20in barrel is where it's at.
    Or Mk262mod1 from a 11.5-16in.
    >oh nop

      What about m193 in a 16 inch?

Still better than m855 from any inch

Who fricking cares dipshit. They'll both kill you idiot.

I love how a long range paper punching round like mk262 has become a popular gun in SBR platforms. The bullet was literally not designed to kill people but for long range target shooting.

Despite the fact a lot of them weren't designed to be terminal permormers, at high velocities a lot of them tend to do well if they fragment. I think the hornady 75gr HPBT tends to do better than an SMK, however, The TMK is probably the best round you can get in an AR length mag when you want maximum tissue damage and aren't worried about barriers.

I'd rather compromise and have accurate rounds on target, slightly (barely) less lethal. I'd not want to be shot innacurately by M855 anymore than I'd want to be shot accurately by mk262

I just got back from shooting 200 rounds of M855 and 150 of M193 at various ranges.
      Had no issues from either.
Maybe you should be a better shot you dumb shit.

When you can find it anywhere other than TACSWAP for less than 2.50 a round it will be viable.

Eh, my gun groups better with m855. Maybe I should get some 62gr fmj but I don't see that very often.

Sure, if you have a 1:12 gun that is only good for m193 and nothing else.

I have good lvl3 so it's rated for m193, but not for m855. M193 only pens cheap lvl3 it won't pen ceramic, or any NIJ certified plate which is tested against m193.

whoa based. Please say you shoot it exclusively from 20" barrels

May as well just shoot .22 WMR. Both are going to get stopped by plates and neither is going to expand or fragment, so save yourself some money

Who makes the best green tips on the civilian market?

The ones worth buying are all military rejects. If someone is trying to sell you them like they are special they are dumb, if you buy them you are dumber. And those who manufacture their own are moronic, etc.

Does it cost more than surplus? Yes.
          No? No.

At this point though if you can find and afford it go for it. I'm speaking from a completely min/max hypothetical situation.

Lol my rifle is ~ 1 moa with hand loads. Armscor is just shit ammo. Their 22 like to randomly blow out the side of the rim as well.

If it can't shoot steel it doesn't deserve handloads.

It's funny my rifle shoots steel fine it loves Tula but barnaul which is one of the best steel case manufacturers consistently tumbles at 25 yards. Rifles are all a bit different.

That depends on what you mean by best. Federal has the contract to sell the Lake City overruns and rejects. Having been an infantry Marine who shot plenty of the real stuff, it's the same exact shit for all realistic purposes. Even comes in the same stripper clips and packaging.

Now who makes the most accurate? Hell if I know. The ss109 isn't particularly accurate. Who makes the hottest? A few people say IWI. Generally speaking, it's all going to be overwhelmingly very similar and you either need to be a really good shot or a chronograph ammo nerd to differentiate the differences.

        Anonymous

I haven't personally had any problems with it but I've heard all the IWI ammo while a little on the hot side is also less accurate and doesn't group as well. I only have one rifle so I can't even say it varies by rifle.

I'd like to buy some but the only range I go to has range officers physically inspect your ammo to make sure you aren't using any kind of steel core projectiles or tracers.

why? mil-spec 193 is better in every way. 855 is less accurate, lower velocity, more expensive meme shit.

I bought a bunch in the before times for a good price and it groups nicely out of my 16" AR but I can't see myself shooting any more of it nowadays. Saving it for a 20" in the future.

Do i actually need to worry about m855?

I mean most armor that stops m855 unde4 5 pounds is like over 700 each

      Anonymous

you need to worry about it just like you need to worry about 30-06, 308, and 54r. Level 3 and 3a is simply not enough. You must have level 4 plates, which is going to defeat anything you would ever be shot with.

why the hate on M855? wouldnt it be better for the majority of /k/ommandos?

      Anonymous

It depends a lot on what you're shooting and where you're shooting it. Some ranges literally don't allow it and if you're worried about overpenetration it's obviously a bad choice.

frick indoor ranges, their only saving grace is their AC
