      I personally have 1000 hertzers sp 7.62x39
If im lucky enough to use them with an averave of 2 shots a hunt thats 500 bucks taken.
I own a cz 527, its a great shooter. I shoot irons with when i hunt.
If by some mircle I pull 250+ tags in my life ill consider the loss of my hunting ammo and rifle a cost of a great life.

I have about 500rnds myself, but I can't make myself shoot it. With the PSA ammo on the horizon, I think I'll just be holding onto it in case I want to use it for something like hunting.

And it will be a lot more available and much cheaper than the $1/rnd Winchester ammo. I've accepted the days of super cheap 7.62×39 are over, but at least it will be more stomachable soon.

I dunno a single person that has been hurting for softpoint hunting x39. PSA is prioritizing range slop and thier hunting loads will probably be similar to winchester or privi's

With the ruger AMERICAN (tm) rifles and the mini-30 sorta making a splash in the market, this Soviet Arms shit should help those sell. No one else is making it at an affordable price. Winchester and Federal makes some, but the prices are goofy for a not-so-great round.

Honestly if PSA made subsonics it would be cash money.

Why make a the krink in 556 when you can just make 5.45 and x39 yourself?

7.62x39 ammo is never going to go away for fricks sake we had the Ruger mini 30 in the 80's when the USSR was still in power and we could get no guns and ammo from them. the .2 cent araound colapse of the Soviet Union pricing will go away and it might become priced at its twin cartrige 300 blackout (gasp yes they are nearly identical frickwits) but it will be around way longer longer than the youngest no guns zoomer will be alive.

      Anonymous

It'll end up like .30-30 at like 80-90 cents a round for brass cased domestic (Remington UMC or equivalent) FMJ or SP, with maybe the odd foreign steel case FMJ being 50-60 cents each. Not cheap but you'll be able to get it in at least reasonable quantity.

Speaking of russian ammo market and brass casings, LVE have disappeared from the shops for some reason. Barnaul is almost omnipresent. And Tula promised to introduce their .30-06 brass case ammo in May and 9,3x62 next year.

I bought my first 50 rounds today (9x21) spent 12 euro, i thought, it was a steal.

I thought ammunition were way more expensive.

Anyway, tomorrow I have to go to the police station to inform them I got my ammo, but not before buying some .38 for my revolver.

I need to have a loaded gun, and the gun seller told me having a mag loaded all the time on my CZ would harm the magazine.

Just here to say that you Americans are lucky.

        >I am not an American, what is the problem in doing what he did?

Most areas in the USA has limits on game depending on the type of game and the type of animal for instance; in game management unit 123 you are allowed 1 buck white tail 2 point or better in game unit 456 you can take 1 spike bull or antlerless. you are issued tags for the hunts you apply for in these areas when you get your licence for the year. Poaching is violating those rules and carries serious fines. It is a pain in the ass and over regulated but it does keep Cleetus and his buddies from just going out and depopulationg an area of deer. I know shitheads that only take the back straps or no meat at all on their "hunts"

I have no hunting experience whatsoever; how is 7.62x39 on deer? I've always been told you need at least .308 for rifles, or .44 Magnum for handguns if you want to hunt deer

      Anonymous

      >how is 7.62x39 on deer
It's fine, it's basically 30-30 just make sure to use an expanding bullet. Russian soft points work well, Russian hollowpoints are bullshit, modern hunting bullets like hornady's obviously work well.
My wasr is my favorite rifle and the one I'm most used to so that's what I choose for hunting

        Anonymous

        >Russian soft points work well
You sure? I read the reloading topics on our local forums (.308 and .30-06 specifically) and everyone (or maybe that's just gun community fashion police) says that they're afraid to feed Barnaul factory rounds to their precious little rifles (for example, Benelli Argo, CZ550, Franchi Horizon) and they prefer imported ammo or handload imported bullets. They used to love Sako Hammerhead, Norma Oryx, Lapua Mega, Sierra Game King, Nosler Partition, Hornady ELD-X, RWS EVO and TUG. Today all that stuff is overpriced thanks to sanctions, though it's easier to import than gunpowder.
However we're finally getting more Oryx-inspired bullet designs for sale, that's actually good.

Yeah. Guess, the most significant difference between Barnaul Centaur and Geco TM would be steel case and worse gunpowder.

Should be enough, but I'm not taking any chances. If I'd have to go hunt tomorrow, I'd grab a 12 gauge or full power .30 cal (because it has plenty of affordable ammo).
Some people say that 7.62x39 is enough for brown bear as well, but they're the kind that dumps all magazine in one target.

No fricking shit sherlock it's my rifle I know what it is. OP is not a homosexual because he hunts with a surplus caliber in general. (You) are a homosexual because (you) say x39 "should be enough" dipshit it's more than plenty. Similar ballistics to 30-30, which has killed more whitetail than blizzards. People one-shot whitetail with .357's regularly. If you can't kill a whitetail with a x39, it's your own fault for beig a shit shot. You tallk like somebody who doesn't hunt

I'm talking like the man short on cash. It's cheaper to have jack of all trades gun - the kind that's relatively accurate and chambered for a widespread cartridge that fits most of the medium and large game in my region.

            >cartridge that fits most of the medium and large game in my region
NTA but 7.62x39 kills plenty of whitetail and blackbear in the Eastern US. Unless you're regularly moving up to Elk and Moose, it's a solid jack-of-all trades rifle

Thing is that I live in the moose country (neither US nor Canada though). And if I ever go hunting moose or brown bear, I want a proper medicine for them.

Based. Russians have used it to kill brown bears.

Yes, but it can hardly be called "humane hunting" or "effective ammo management". It's pretty much magdumping the large game. Still going to be fine for roe deer.

              https://i.imgur.com/WKBkgZx.jpg

Used this sketchy shit (had a weird waist on the case and threw MASSIVE muzzle flashes) to take down some local durr which are significantly smaller than 'murri-fat whitetails.
Can't say if the bullet expansion/retention weight was any good since all the deer I shot with this shit got hole-punched straight through.
But this ammo was reasonably accurate (around 2-3MOA), and all the deer dropped on the spot without so much as taking a single step. Although one of them jumped about a meter straight up before landing stone dead.

Buddy that is not at all true. If you use a properly designed expanding projectile in a 7.62x39 and commit to proper practice as to be a good enough shot to hit the vitals, that brown bear is going down.

No, that's just how people often hunt with x39. Especially 25 years ago when x39 SPs weren't as common among civilians here.
                >If you use a properly designed expanding projectile in a 7.62x39 and commit to proper practice as to be a good enough shot to hit the vitals

Gunpowder. Developing of better gunpowder has stopped after fall of USSR and just picking up slowly, thanks to rifle reloading being moved out of gray law zone as well as flow of foreign powder drying out (russian civilian reloaders loved Vectan and Vihtavuori, which are totally gone now).
