i fell asleep sitting up and it hit me that a lot of sleeping gear is related to laying down.
i present a new concept: sit camping.
we've all fallen asleep while hunting, right?
so why fon't we just do that on purpose?
get yourself a wearable sitting pad, an army surplus marshmallow suit,
a poncho, and just lean against a tree next time you go to sleep.
this is the perfect ultralight camping setup. wanna leave? just stand up and start walking.
this is also good for innawoods shit because you can immediately react to a threat.
You know what, this is going to sound schitzo af but i have been using old fire fighting pants with the striping removed to sit in the wet grass and in summer I legit think I could just sleep with that on. don't know about sitting upright though.
Then again I have fallen asleep while spelunking from tiredness so we'll see.
i lean against a tree with my head in the crook of a branch or something like that so it's supported.
Hmm lots of soft trees here with ditches so if it doesn't rain this might work, like you said it happends enough when I'm tired amd sitting around
>soft trees
lmao
i wear a beanie or put my hood up or something like that for padding
Do you call them you sitting pants
Then do people mia hear you and go "Shitting pants?!??"
We used to do that with my dad and brother in overnight hikes to the mountains. Just lie down in the dirt and sleep. We had to keep watch for pumas and being able to react quickly was valuable. Not something you can do in cold or wet climate, but in arid land, it's fine.
We called it mexican camping
yeah that's the other thing, mexicans do it all the time. in deer season i fall asleep often while sitting in the snow, all i needis my sit pad and my suit.
it's not healthy to sleep sitting up.
why
For the same reason that you shouldn't sit at a desk for too long.
You are putting pressure on your lower back for too long. It will feel fine to do that for a little while, maybe a long time, but eventually it will cause permanent damage.
Take care of your spine.
>military surplus
>this is the perfect ultralight camping setup
lol
>hike in the insulation you use to sleep
LMAO!
you don't wear the marshmallow suit while walking. the point was more that in an emergency you could.
a quilt could supplement it if needed
>wanna leave? just stand up and start walking.
LMAO!
it was wrong of me to believe you would infer that the warmer suit would be removed as you warmed up, i apologise.
to me it seemed so obvious that it could go without saying, but apparently not.
will you ever forgive me?
No. Take your LARP bullshit back to /k/.
>camping with a quilt is great! Ready to break camp? Just stand up and start walking!
>we’ll of course you have to pack your insulation!
See how absolutely moronic that is?
That's not accurate though, since I do try to pack my "insulation" (wool blankets or coat layers) inside of a bag to start, but often will just lay it across my shoulders or over my bag instead of re-packing it all later on.
Shit, packing a blanket or roll mat externally would work exactly as
said, and is viable.
You do t even go outside. You know how I know?
>wool blanket
That’s how. LARP more, gay.
Shit b8.
Wool or gtfo.
you're just repeating yourself now. in any case i don't see why you're so vehemently against this when it's something every deer hunter does.
Yeah, I have to repeat myself because you original posts is fricking stupid.
u a b***h
I do this in all seasons outside of summer, thermal shirt, t-shirt and hoodie with shorts. In deep summer I'll take my shoes/socks off so I don't sweat. Falling asleep cross-legged, lying in the grass, or against a tree is top tier
>why dont we just sleep sitting down?
because your spine needs to decompress ya manlet. but that actually gives me an idea.
your sleeping setup could just be two hooks you attach to your boots, find a good branch and hang from it upside down like a bat. if you wanna leave, you just pocket the hooks. now THATS ultralight
Human beings are designed for standing up and lying down and maybe a bit of crouching and squatting.
Why do you think so many homosexual office workers have to get special ergonomic chairs and all that virgin shit
Yeah put more pressure on your cardiovascular system when it is supposed to relax so your sleep is regenetive, do that for a week moron
i have slept upright in a chair for 2 years with no adverse effects when i hadnt got the money for a bed
Sitting for long periods of time is actually really bad for you. Not a natural position for the human body, that's made to squat, lay down, and stand. Office jobs give a lot of people hemorrhoids and cysts from sitting in chairs all day.
