where 5.7x28 replaces 22LR/22WMR/17HMR for use in light and handy manually-operated rifles meant for plinking or hunting. Yes, I'm fully aware this is a LARP and would never happen because we have to stick to 1800s rimfire tech because reasons.
A CZ 457 in 5.7x28 is my absolute dream gun that will never ever happen.
>the rimfire retard autismo is STILL pushing this retarded shit after getting btfo every single time
yeah
>rimfire retard autismo
Who?
the receiver isn't long enough
i know who you're talking about and its not the same guy
honestly i see it as more of a 9mm substitute than a 22 substitute. Or, more like a modernized 30 carbine. A lightweight semi auto or bolt gun with a 10 inch barrel and suppressor in 5.7 would be really nice to have.
select fire please
man a select fire 5.7 carbine with an in-grip mag and some sort of delayed action would be so fucking rad
Rimfire cartridges are significantly cheaper to make in bulk for one.
well yeah that's one of the drawbacks. but these are bolt guns we're talking about, no need for bulk ammo.
>no need for bulk ammo
There is always a need for bulk ammo
This, however OP, I think that partly it is also because .22lr is an old ass round that probably is not protected by any sort of copyright anymore whereas for 5,7x28 manufacturers must pay royalties
Also meme round used only by a handful of guns
>A CZ 457 in 5.7x28 is my absolute dream gun that will never ever happen.
are you too retarded to just get one custom made?
Worse: I'm poor.
So if you have a gun... like use your head, right?
.22 is good because it's cheap as shit and has a dual purpose with construction work.
rimfire means no primer which means less steps, less stuff, less cost.
No other ammo in the world can get me 2000 rounds for $90
I bet .22lr will still exist 100, 200 years from now.
just stop being a dumbass and embrace 5.56.
too long too comfortably fit in pistol
yes good job on mentioning cost cpt. obvious, i didn't consider that one
>for use in light and handy manually-operated rifles meant for plinking or hunting.
>hurr but what about pistols though?!
What about them indeed fucktard.
why wouldn't i want to share ammo with my sidearm? do you know of any good 223 pistols? this should be obvious
oh it's retarded
no more (you)s for (you)
5.7 is a dogshit handgun round btw
I don't even understand why people do this kind of shit. They're saying retarded shit and eventually when they lose it they crumble and and start to say how they were "only pretending to be retarded".
I literally said in my OP this is a LARP and would never happen. Why are you so mad? Should I have added a "this thread is a LARP" image to the OP instead of a picture of the cartridge?
>asks why thing doesn't exist
>everyone tells him why it doesn't exist
>WHY ARE YOU MAD I DON'T ACTUALLY WANT THE THING I WANT
it's ok bro some people just aren't very smart, you'd better get used to being called retarded though.
I can literally buy a 5.7x28 barrel for my encore
but you won't, pussy
>why wouldn't i want to share ammo with my sidearm?
Why would you? What benefit would it give you? You don't know because you don't own any fucking guns. There's zero advantage to this. Why even have a pistol if you have a rifle that shoots the same caliber more effectively?
>do you know of any good 223 pistols?
Yeah the AR-15
>why wouldn't i want to share ammo with my sidearm?
Because the entire purpose of a long arm is using cartridges that are significantly more powerful than a sidearm
Yeah but sometimes you want the stability of a long gun but a weight under four pounds and don't need or want the extra firepower
For example varmint hunting or target shooting
cz 457 is 6.2 lbs though
I really don't understand what's going on in this thread. 5.7 was literally made for a full auto SMG that was the point of it and still is. HG use was always just sort of thrown in there for NATO spec lists.
you fag
>too long too comfortably fit in pistol
you said rifle in your op and mentioned the cz 457
but again what is the point of theoretical 5.7 over a decent .22-250 rifle or the like? this is a solved problem already.
like whats the fucking point. all those rounds work great for light plinking or hunting already. once someone needs more there is no reason to go to an expensive pistol round instead of going to a very light quality rifle round
>because reasons
nigga figure out how to make 5.7x28 for 6cpr and by all means get back to us
>5.7 for use in light and handy manually-operated rifles meant for plinking or hunting
>I don't hunt or plink
>But you're doing it wrong
5.7 sucks balls and will never be on the same level as every round that's actually used.
at this rate 5.7x28mm is going to be down to 25-30 cents a round in a matter of a few years and that'd be good enough to start chambering little varmint rifles and woods guns in it
you've lived long enough to see 5.7's time in the sun and the cartridge has had more success in the last 3 years than the other 27 of its existence
>mad
>at 22lr
Sad.
>.22 eargasplitten loudenboomer Ackley improved
This thread almost makes me a little nostalgic though. Just a clean, innocent and pure fucking retard and his retarded ways, no greater impact or horror or politics or whatever. Bless you OP.
>light and handy manually-operated rifles
Hear me out, Ruger 77/5.7. Tgx.
make it so 5.7 is the same price as .22lr and fuck it, ill get rid of all my .22.
Was SG1 trying to red pill is on the 5.7x28 round?
That's dumb. 5.7 is best suited as a replacement for 9mm, like it was designed to be. Trust me, I love 5.7, own 3 guns chambered in it. The stuff works best in PDWs and sidearms. It's not a good replacement for .22 because it'll never be as cheap, and it'll never be a full rifle cartridge because it would obviously be outclassed in distance and penetration. And there's no reason for your rifle to use the same ammo as your pistol. Just be happy that the stuff has been coming down in price lmao.
5.7 is a shitty replacement for 9mm is the majority of 9mm use cases at this point though, which is why it hasn't happened in 33 years. It replaces 9mm in the SMG role fine, but SMGs have long been a shrinking niche thanks to continuous improvements in SBRs. If you can afford it then it'll do fine in a PDW but again, you'd have to want it specifically vs other options. But it's bad in sidearms.
Honest question, how is it bad in sidearms compared to 9mm? I've seen online it has great penetration, very low recoil, and pistols have high capacity. Only downsides I've seen is cost of the round, and the fact that it's restricted to fullsize guns.
It's more expensive. That's it. That's the literal only complaint that 9mmfags have. Sometimes you'll see them say some bullshit about size, but then turn around and say that .40 S&W and .45 ACP are both pointless despite being bigger.
It's better in every way EXCEPT short barrel/compact firearms. For a duty sized gun it mogs.
Suppressed?
Quieter and will pen soft armor.
Recoil?
Less
Capacity?
More
Long range with a dot?
Better in every way
Gucci ammo?
Named after dragons.
It's /k/ino, only poorfags hate it.
T. Reformed 9mm addict. Just fire a Five-seveN and you'll understand everything.
The PSA and the S&W are both good. The Ruger has a bad trigger and the FN is overpriced
>The PSA and the S&W are both good.
No they aren't lmao. Smith is trash and per the designer only has threads because they couldn't get their meme action to run a shorter barrel. It's not reliable suppressed and they threw it on as a literal cope by their own admission.
>The Ruger has a bad trigger
True
>and the FN is overpriced
False
>Honest question, how is it bad in sidearms compared to 9mm?
5.7 depends massively on velocity for performance. But it was designed around a 10.4" SMG barrel, all the velocity numbers you'll common see quoted are for 10 or even 16" barrels. When you shrink that down to <5", let alone <4", velocity is hit hard and Hispanicy 9mm loads literally can go as fast or faster, at lower pressure too.
>I've seen online it has great penetration, very low recoil, and pistols have high capacity. Only downsides I've seen is cost of the round, and the fact that it's restricted to fullsize guns.
But if you compare it with a modern 9mm load like 68gr or 90gr screwdrivers going 1550-1800fps, well they'll have great penetration and low recoil as well. And
>expensive, restricted to full size handguns
Are BIG downsides anon. Compacts and microcompacts are by far the most popular handguns because the vast, vast majority of people want to CC. Even in full size 5.7 suffers from lack of market breadth, which isn't an inherent problem but is a practical one, and it suppresses badly out of handguns.
The question is why pay more and deal with the downsides? In an SMG there is a clear answer to that, but in handguns there isn't. It just doesn't get you anything vs 9mm out of a <5" barrel.
>have to stick to 1800s rimfire tech because reasons
Because money to stupid homosexual. A bottleneck, high pressure, rimless cartridge is going to be fuck loads more expensive than low pressure rimfire and require guns that are more expensive. You know that thing that drives every fucking decision on the planet? FUCKING MONEY you stupid homo.
>replace 9mm
>worse performance in nearly every way except for super special loadings
It also is too fucking long to fit in small guns and too fucking high pressure to have lightweight guns built. You're also a fucking retard.
It's also very dependent on barrel length so you can't actually make a small pistol chambered in it worth a shit
I think it's cool in the full size duty pistols
>5.7 is best suited as a replacement for 9mm, like it was designed to be.
it's not even the best for that 22TCM is WAY better because all it takes is a barrel swap. you don't even need to change the bolt face at all. 5.7 isn't the best at anything.
Yeah but .22 TCM loses out on the biggest advantage of 5.7: carrying 100 rounds in four mags
22tcm is trash. No one cares about it even RIA.
>.22 TCM
Armscor is literally the only ammo manufacturer.
Armscor barely makes it. They only do so in batches. It's dead as a doorknob.
No thanks, I would prefer a 4.6x30mm takeover
>5.7x28
Straight wall shit. No thank you
