i bought a mark 23. getting the peq-6 is almost impossible but getting a peq-14 is easy, and it's the same thing. it just has a different attachement and so you have to use the GGG hk -> picattiny rail. the KAC mk23 silencer is not really available. but the B&T mk23 silencer is the same thing. HK designed it and the US had KAC make theirs and the rest of the world and europe had B&T make theirs. and you can still usually get the B&T.

the mark 23 is, in a pretty objective and universal sense, the best no-compromise handgun commercially available. there's nothing that is comparably reliable and durable. it's about as accurate as any handgun that isn't a thompson contender can be. people say 'woah its huge' but it's not really, it's just that's the size of a .45auto handgun that isn't made with any compromises.

my favorite thing to do to a handgun to judge its mechanism, is just watch the breech while racking it in lots of different ways. i can make a glock jam 100 times in a row by working the slide at the wrong speed. the mark 23 is mesmerizing to watch it feed and eject. you can literally creep the slide back so slow that the entire action takes 5 seconds and the motion of the bullet almost has a certain magical quality. it's like you're watching the solidworks animation of the action reciprocating. the only comparable action i've seen is the remington Nylon 66. it has that some unworldly look to it. the Nylon 66 is the most reliable self loading rifle ever made, confirmed by the guinness world records. the Mark 23 is the most reliable self loading handgun ever made, confirmed by the USDOD OHWPS trials, which they designed so that nobody could succeed and they wouldn't have to fund the program.

watching the action as you just rack the slide over and over in different ways will tell you how reliable the handgun is.

i just wanted to tell you all that i bought the entire mark23 setup, and i'm objectively convinced it's the best handgun.

Yes, people often go through significant mental gymnastics to justify their irresponsible purchases.

what's irresponsible is wasting money on a poor weapon that you on some level understand that you may have to stake your life on some day.

if 2500 dollars is a lot of money for you, for life-saving equipment, then i'm guessing you've been pretty irresponsible with the rest of your life too, since you can't afford 2500 measley fricking dollars for what is objectively the best handgun commercially available, with a lifetime warranty.

an example of an irresponsible purchase would be those subwoofers that cost a lot more than the gun. but i don't try to justify them. they're an obscenity and i don't regret it.

when would I ever be using a mk23 as "life-saving equipment?" for HD I'd use an AR15 and there's no way I could CC a MK23 (and you probably can't either without planning your wardrobe around it)

Dude, those speakers are made for like a concert venue, not a small living room. Also $2500 for a handgun is moronic, sorry.

And you would be correct. It's a shame they still haven't made a 10mm version of either it or the mk23. There's no reason it couldn't work

Because there are much better handguns in 10mm at the price.

They don't make a 10mm gun since nobody buys 10mm guns, they just whine that there aren't any 10mm guns online.

Common anti-10mm moron misconception. Almost every major manufacturer now makes a good option in 10mm. Sig makes 2-3, FN, Ruger, Springfield, S&W, all have flagship 10mm offerings. More are popping up because people ARE buying 10mm now, more than ever before.

At the rate they’re selling compared to their 9mm counterparts, they’re hardly moving. Same with ammo, at least in my area. Also very easy to make a 10mm offering when you already have the tooling for .40 barrels and are manufacturing larger (.45) frames.

Truth, as a 45 acp handgun it's not very exciting but 45 supers are where this thing really shines.
